Digitech XC0439 Wireless Soil Moisture & Temperature Sensor
Overview
Thank you for selecting this Wireless Soil Moisture & Temperature sensor. This manual is for the AU version. Please read the instructions carefully according to the version you purchased and keep the manual for future reference.
Key Components:
- 1. Transmission status LED: Indicates transmission activity.
- 2. Sensor metal probe: Inserted into the soil.
- 3. Moisture sensor: Measures soil moisture.
- 4. Wall mounting holder: For mounting the sensor unit.
- 5. [CHANNEL] slide switch: Used to assign the sensor to a specific channel (1-7).
- 6. [RESET] key: Resets the sensor. ⚙️
- 7. Battery compartment: Houses the batteries.
Important Notes
- Read and keep these instructions.
- Do not cover ventilation holes.
- Do not clean with abrasive or corrosive materials.
- Do not tamper with internal components; this invalidates the warranty.
- Use only new batteries; do not mix new and old ones.
- Dispose of old batteries as unsorted municipal waste; separate collection for special treatment is necessary.
- Dispose of used units or batteries in an ecologically safe manner.
- Technical specifications and user manual contents are subject to change without notice.
Caution
- Danger of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly. Use only the same or equivalent type.
- The battery cannot be subjected to high or low extreme temperatures, low air pressure at high altitude during use, storage, or transportation.
- Replacing the battery with an incorrect type can result in an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
- Disposing of a battery in fire, a hot oven, or mechanically crushing/cutting it can result in an explosion.
- Leaving a battery in an extremely high temperature environment can result in an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
- A battery subjected to extremely low air pressure may result in an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
- The appliance is only suitable for mounting at a height of less than 2m.
Getting Started
- Remove the battery cover.
- Slide the [CHANNEL] slide switch to choose a channel.
- Insert 2 x AA size batteries into the battery compartment, observing polarity marks.
- Close the battery cover.
- After inserting batteries, the transmission status LED will light up for 1 second.
Notes:
- Assign different channels for different sensors if pairing more than one.
- Once a channel is assigned, it can only be changed by removing batteries or resetting the unit.
- Avoid placing the sensor in direct sunlight, rain, or snow.
Pairing the Wireless Sensors with the Console
The console will automatically search and connect to your wireless sensor(s). Upon successful pairing, the sensor(s) signal strength indication and weather information will appear on your console display.
Note: During signal transmission, the LED indicator of the sensor will flash. ?
Temperature Display
On the console display linked to the soil sensor, a temperature reading will be displayed.
Soil Moisture Display
Soil moisture is classified into 5 levels: Very Dry, Dry, Moist, Wet, and Very Wet. The sensor calibrates moisture into 16 points, correlating them into a percentage value.
Points | Percentage | Level |
---|---|---|
1 | 0% | Very Dry |
2 | 7% | |
3 | 13% | |
4 | 20% | |
5 | 27% | Dry |
6 | 33% | |
7 | 40% | |
8 | 47% | Moist |
9 | 53% | |
10 | 60% | |
11 | 67% | Wet |
12 | 73% | |
13 | 80% | Very Wet |
14 | 87% | |
15 | 93% | |
16 | 99% |
Note: Measurement accuracy can be affected by soil condition. Loose soil may show a lower moisture level compared to dense soil.
Sensor Placement
Select a suitable installation site. Insert the sensor probes into the soil around 100mm (4 inches). Place the sensor within 30 meters (492 feet) of the display console for best transmission performance.
Diagram Description: The diagram shows a display console connected wirelessly to a soil sensor. The soil sensor is placed in the ground with its probes inserted to a depth of 10-15cm. The main body of the sensor is 100cm above ground. A mounting pole is shown but noted as not included. The transmission range is indicated as 150m (492 feet) straight distance.
Note: Signal transmission range reduces as the sensor is inserted deeper into the soil. For best range, install the sensor on the same plain of view as the display console.
