Step-by-step instructions for assembling and installing your Kaboodle 450mm 6-tier pantry pullout baskets.

Things You Need to Know

  • Always read the full instructions prior to installation.
  • Consider possible obstructions like hinges inside the cabinet or adjacent cabinet doors and handles before installation.
  • Ensure plumbing and electrical work is left to qualified tradespeople.
  • Always use safety gear, such as a mask, ear muffs, and glasses, when using tools.
  • Note: For best performance, it is strongly recommended that soft close hinges are used for this pantry unit.
  • This accessory is designed for cabinets with either a left-hand or right-hand opening setup.
  • Tip: After marking out the pre-drill holes, align the part with the markings to ensure they match up before pre-drilling.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Pre-drilling holes (top)

On the top pantry panel, mark out and pre-drill four holes. Use a 2mm drill bit to pre-drill holes to a depth of 2.5mm. For left-hand opening cabinets, mirror the measurements shown in the diagram, which indicates hole placement relative to the front edge (e.g., 30.5mm) and overall panel dimensions.

Step 2: Pre-drilling holes (bottom)

On the bottom pantry panel, mark out and pre-drill four holes. Use a 2mm drill bit to pre-drill holes to a depth of 2.5mm. The diagram shows hole placement relative to the side edges (e.g., 62mm) and front/back edges (e.g., 152mm).

Step 3: Attaching the L-Irons

Remove two flat head screws from each L-Iron (A). Attach the L-Irons to the runners (B). You will need to slide the runner forward (i) and backward (ii) to access the round holes for attachment. Screw through the runner to secure the L-Iron.

Step 4: Attaching the L-Bracket and frame

(i) Remove 2 screws from the back of the frame at the top. Insert the L-Bracket (C) and fix it into place with the 2 screws. Note: It is not necessary to fully tighten the screws at this stage, as they will be adjusted later.

(ii) Remove the top 2 screws on each L-Iron (A) and attach them to the frame. Ensure screws go through the frame to the L-Iron.

Step 5: Attaching the runners

Align the runners (B) with the pre-drilled holes on the bottom of the cabinet. Use 4 x 16mm wood screws (D) to fix the runners. Secure with an additional 8 x 16mm wood screws, ensuring they are spaced evenly on both runners and are mirrored from the left to the right side.

Step 6: Attaching the U-Iron

Align the U-Iron (E) with the pre-drilled holes on the top of the cabinet. Use 4 x 16mm wood screws (D) to fix the U-Iron.

Step 7: Adjusting the L-Bracket

Loosen the 2 screws at the back of the frame (i). Adjust the L-Bracket upwards so the castors are fully slotted into the U-Iron. Tighten screws (i) to secure.

Step 8: Installing protective covers

Slide the runner protective covers (F) over the runners, below the frame, as pictured.

Step 9: Attaching door rack

On the back of your pantry door, draw a level line the length of the door, 66-100mm from the inside edge. Draw a second line the length of the door, 315mm over from the first line. Measuring from the bottom of the door along these lines, mark out the pre-drill holes at 110mm and 166mm. Use a 2mm drill bit to pre-drill holes to a depth of roughly 2.5mm.

Align the door rack panels with the pre-drilled holes and fix into place using 4 x 22mm wood screws (G). Use the remaining 12 wood screws to secure the door rack panels to the door, taking care not to damage the front side of the door.

Note: For retro-fit installations, you will need to unclip your hinges to remove the pantry door and carefully place it on a flat, clean surface before marking out the pre-drill holes.

Step 10: Installing connecting strips

(i) Attach the door to the cabinet. Note: If this is not a retro-fit installation, you will need to install your hinges at this point.

(ii) Remove the 2 screws from one end of the connecting strip (H). Align it with the appropriate holes on the frame and fix into place. Next, remove the screw from the other end of the connecting strip, align it with the hole at the end of the door rack panel, and fix into place.

Step 11: Installing the baskets

Easily attach the wire baskets by inserting the wire pegs, located at the back (i), at even intervals (left to right side). Gently push down to secure into position. Small baskets are to be used on the door rack.

Ensure baskets are secure and level before loading. Note: Do not overload baskets, as this could interfere with functionality, cause the product to fail, or cause damage to your pantry door. The maximum weight capacity is 5kg per large basket and 3kg per small basket.

Caring for Your Kaboodle Cabinets and Accessories

Looking after your Kaboodle cabinets and accessories is really easy and with the right care and maintenance, they will last you for many years. Just follow these simple steps.

Cabinet Care:

  • Clean your cabinets with an all-purpose, non-abrasive cleaner using a damp sponge or cloth.
  • Never use saturated cloths, harsh chemicals, or thinner-based cleaners, as these will damage the surface of the melamine.
  • Avoid products that scratch the surface, like steel wool or wire brushes, and avoid sharp objects that will scratch, cut, or gouge the melamine surface. If this happens, the internal board will be exposed and may swell.
  • Kaboodle cabinets are water-resistant but not waterproof, so any spills should be attended to immediately.
  • Handy hint: If the melamine surface of your cabinet is damaged, you can try to cover it with a furniture repair crayon, but remember that this won't seal the board back to its original finish.

Parts and Accessories Care:

  • Keep hinges, runners, and other parts and accessories dry at all times.
  • To keep mechanisms performing at their best, regularly wipe them with a dry cloth, removing any dust and grime that may build up.
  • In case of spills, clean immediately with a dry cloth. Do not use harsh abrasives.
