Installation Steps

The following steps outline the general installation process. Refer to specific diagrams for detailed guidance.

Mounting and Securing

  1. Step 1: Attach mounting bracket (1x) and secure with screws (2x) as shown in the diagram.
  2. Step 2: Position the pump and secure its base to a stable surface using appropriate fasteners (e.g., 4x screws). Use a spirit level to ensure the pump is mounted horizontally.
  3. Step 2A (JP/JP PM/JP): Secure the pump base using 4 screws.
  4. Step 2B (JP PT-V/JP PT-H): Secure the pump base with the integrated tank using 4 screws.

Diagrams illustrate attaching mounting brackets and securing the pump base with screws, emphasizing correct orientation and stability.

Plumbing Connections

Ensure all pipe connections are made securely and correctly to prevent leaks.

  1. Step 2a (JP): Apply thread sealant to the pipe threads. Screw the pipe into the pump inlet, tightening with a wrench. Ensure the pipe is not kinked or blocked.
  2. Step 2b (JP PM): Connect the pipe to the pump inlet, ensuring proper sealing. Tighten with a wrench. The PM 1 controller is integrated into the system. Avoid kinks or blockages in the piping.
  3. Step 2c (JP PT-V): Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the pump and tank assembly. Ensure proper sealing and avoid pipe restrictions.
  4. Step 2d (JP PT-H): Connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the pump and tank assembly. Ensure proper sealing and avoid pipe restrictions.

Diagrams show the process of threading pipes, tightening connections with a wrench, and illustrate correct vs. incorrect pipe configurations (e.g., avoiding kinks or sharp bends).

Priming the Pump

  1. Step 3: Ensure the pump is correctly assembled and connected.
  2. Step 4: Open the priming plug.
  3. Step 5: Fill the pump casing and suction pipe with water from a suitable container until full.
  4. Step 6: Close the priming plug securely.
  5. Step 7: Remove the cover of the electrical terminal box.
  6. Step 8: Ensure the cover is properly closed after electrical connections are made.

Diagrams illustrate filling the pump with water, closing the priming plug, and accessing/securing the electrical terminal box.

Electrical Connection

  1. Step 9: Connect the power supply to the pump's terminal box according to local electrical codes and the wiring diagram provided. Ensure the correct voltage and frequency are used. The diagram shows connections for Live (L), Neutral (N), and Earth (G/Y) wires. A power switch (0/Off, 1/On) is depicted for controlling the pump.

Diagrams show the internal wiring of the terminal box, illustrating the connection of power cables (Live, Neutral, Earth) and the operation of the power switch.

PM 1 Controller Operation (for JP PM models)

The PM 1 controller manages the pump's operation based on pressure.

  • Indicators:
    • Power on: Indicates the controller is receiving power.
    • Pump on: Green light indicates the pump is running.
    • Alarm: Red light indicates an error condition.
  • Operation: When water is drawn, pressure drops, and the pump starts. When flow stops and pressure rises, the pump stops.
  • Maximum Run Time: The controller has a maximum run time of 5 minutes to prevent dry running damage.
  • Reset: The controller can be reset using the 'Reset' button.

Diagrams illustrate the PM 1 controller's indicators (Power on, Pump on, Alarm) and its operation sequence: water flow starts the pump (green light), no flow stops it. An alarm condition is also shown.

A reset function is available on the controller. Further information and product selection tools are available on the Grundfos website: product-selection.grundfos.com.
