Important Notes on First Use and Usage

When you first switch on the appliance, you should ideally run it without any contents for the first 24 hours and not open the appliance doors. If you need to use it straight away, try not to put a large quantity of food inside.

The appliance will work continuously until it comes down to the correct temperature.

This appliance features a five-minute delay function which, after power has been cut and restored or the appliance turned off and on again, allows five minutes to pass before switching the cooling system on again. This is to prevent unnecessary damage to the compressor.

The climate class for this appliance is ST/N. This means ambient temperatures should not fall below 16°C or exceed 38°C.

Fridge Layout and Storage

Fig. 1 shows the layout of the fridge and freezer compartments.

Food types and where to store them within the fridge section:

Setting the Temperature

You must allow the fridge to settle for at least twenty-four hours prior to switching the power on.

To adjust the temperature, turn the thermostat control knob from left to right to the required level. This ranges from 1 to 5. The temperature becomes colder the higher the number on the control.

When the thermostat is set to [number], the cooling system is switched off.

Amica recommends initially setting the temperature control in mid-range for the first 24 hours, then adjusting the temperature up or down from this point as your personal preference. If your fridge is often relatively empty, set the thermostat to a low number to help prevent straining the system.

Fig. 2 shows the Super switch, Thermostat knob, and Lamp cover.

Super Switch

Super Freezing

This switch shall be used as a superfreeze switch. For maximum freezing capacity, please turn on this switch 24 hours before placing fresh food. After placing fresh food in the freezer, 24 hours in the ON position is generally sufficient. In order to save energy, please turn off this switch after 24 hours from placing fresh food.

Winter Switch

If ambient temperature is below 16°C, this switch shall be used as a winter switch and it keeps your fridge above 0°C while the freezer is below -18°C in low ambient temperature.

Defrosting the Fridge

The fridge should not require defrosting in normal operation. Any water from the back wall of the fridge gathers in a channel at the rear of the appliance, drains through a drain hole and collects in the evaporating tray above the compressor. The evaporating tray (at the rear of the appliance, above the compressor - Fig. 4) and the drain hole (Fig. 3) should be cleaned periodically to prevent issues.

Fig. 3 shows the drain hole.

Fig. 4 shows the evaporating tray location.

Please note: If you notice water pooling in the fridge, and the evaporating tray is dry, it is likely that the drain hole passage is blocked (see page 15).

Defrosting the Freezer

Do not use heaters or defrosting sprays in this appliance. Always disconnect the appliance from the power source before defrosting.

Care and Cleaning

Always disconnect the appliance from the power before ANY cleaning or maintenance.

Due to the natural circulation of the air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator chamber. The coldest area is directly above the vegetable drawers. Use this area for all delicate and highly perishable food such as:

The warmest area is in the top section of the door. Use this area for storing butter and cheese.

To achieve the most effective food preservation for the longest possible time and to avoid wasting any food, position the products as shown in Fig. 1. In addition, this figure illustrates the layout of drawers, baskets, and shelves, which allows the most efficient use of energy.
