AC Mains Lead

To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage:

  • Ensure the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on this unit.
  • Insert the mains plug fully into the socket outlet.
  • Do not pull, bend, or place heavy items on the lead.
  • Do not handle the plug with wet hands.
  • Hold the mains plug body when disconnecting the plug.
  • Do not use a damaged mains plug or socket outlet.

The mains plug is the disconnecting device. Install this unit so that the mains plug can be unplugged from the socket outlet immediately.

Speaker

To prevent injury, this apparatus must be securely attached to the wall in accordance with the installation instructions.

Small object

  • Keep batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.
  • Keep screws out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.

Disposal and Care

To Dispose or Transfer This Unit

The unit may retain user settings. If you discard the unit, follow the procedure to return all settings to factory presets to delete user settings (refer to page 20, "To return all settings to the factory preset."). The operation history may be recorded in the unit's memory.

Information on Disposal in Other Countries outside the European Union

Unit and Media Care

Clean This Unit with a Soft, Dry Cloth

Do not use commercially available lens cleaners, as they may cause malfunction. Cleaning of the lens is generally not necessary, but depends on the operating environment.

Clean Discs

How to Replace the Fuse

The fuse location differs according to the type of AC mains plug (Figures A and B). Confirm the AC mains plug fitted and follow the instructions below. Illustrations may differ from actual AC mains plugs.

Using the Remote Control

The unit can playback DVD-Video discs of the following regions codes, including “ALL”:

Finalize

Any DVD-R/RW/R DL, +R/+RW/+R DL, and CD-R/RW recorded by a recorder need to be finalized by that recorder to play on this unit. Please refer to the recorder's instructions.

Music CD

Operation and sound quality of CDs that do not comply with CD-DA specifications (e.g., copy control CDs) cannot be guaranteed to work.

HDMI

If you use an optional HDMI cable, use ARC* compatible High Speed HDMI cables. Non-HDMI-compliant cables cannot be utilized. It is recommended to use Panasonic's HDMI cable. When outputting 1080p signal, please use HDMI cables 5.0 meters or less.

* ARC is an abbreviation of Audio Return Channel, also known as HDMI ARC. This feature allows a home theatre system to receive and play audio from the TV through a single HDMI cable without additional wiring.

DIGITAL AUDIO IN

The dual audio cannot be changed. Change the setting on the connected device.

VIDEO OUT

Do not make the video connections through the VCR. Due to copy guard protection, the picture may not display properly.

AC Mains Lead

Two AC mains leads are supplied. Use the AC mains lead that matches the socket for your area.

This unit consumes a small amount of AC power (page 22) even when turned off in standby mode. For energy conservation, disconnect the unit if you will not be using it for an extended period.

Basic Operations

Enjoying TV with the Speakers of the System

When the system is connected to the HDMI terminal of an ARC-compatible TV, the system's speakers output the TV's sound. For other connection methods, follow the steps below.

Press [EXT-IN] several times to select the appropriate external input mode:

Reduce the volume on the TV to its minimum, and then adjust the volume of the main unit.

Playback

  1. Turn on the TV and select the appropriate video input.
  2. Press [Open/Close].
  3. Insert the media. [Description of media insertion, ensuring correct orientation]
  4. Press [DVD] or [USB]. Playback starts depending on the media.
  5. Select the item to play and press [OK]. Repeat if necessary.

Notes:

Stop

Press [Stop]. The stopping point is memorized.

Resume Play Function

Press [Play/Pause] to restart from the memorized point. The point is cleared if the media is removed.

Restrictions of Use

Bluetooth® Operations

By using the Bluetooth® connection, you can listen to sound from the Bluetooth® device wirelessly. Refer to the Bluetooth® device's operating instructions for details.

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth® feature of the device.
  2. Press [Source Select Button].
  3. Press and hold [PAIRING]. "PAIRING" will be displayed, and the unit will enter pairing standby mode. [Display shows "PAIRING"]
  4. Select "Panasonic XH" from the Bluetooth® menu of the device. [Display shows "CONNECTED"]
  5. Start play on the Bluetooth® device.

Notes:

“HDMI CEC”

This unit supports the "HDMI CEC" (Consumer Electronics Control) function. See the operating instructions for connected equipment for operational details.

Preparation

Set "HDMI CEC" to "On" (page 15). (Default setting is "On".)

Power on Link

When the unit starts playback, the TV will automatically turn on and display the unit's screen.

Power Off Link

All connected "HDMI CEC" equipment automatically turns off when you switch the TV off.

Playing Music Continuously Even After Turning Off the TV

Select "Video" in "Power Off Link" (page 15).

Note: Operation cannot be guaranteed on all HDMI CEC equipment.

Listening to the Radio

You can preset up to 30 channels.

Tuning and Presetting

  1. Press [RADIO]. [Display shows frequency tuning]
  2. Press [Tuning Up] or [Tuning Down] to select the frequency.
  3. Press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward] to start automatic tuning. Tuning stops when a station is found.

To Preset the Channel

  1. Press [PGM]. [Display shows preset channel number]
  2. Press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward] to select a channel number.
  3. Press [OK].

Listening to a Preset Channel

  1. Press [RADIO].
  2. Press the number buttons to select the channel (e.g., for channel 01: press [0] then [1]; for channel 12: press [1] then [2]). Alternatively, press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward].

To Erase All Preset Channels

  1. Press [RADIO].
  2. Press and hold [PGM]. "ErASE" will flash on the unit's display.
  3. Press [OK].

Enjoying Karaoke

Preparation

Before connecting/disconnecting microphones, reduce the main unit's volume to its minimum.

  1. Connect the microphone(s) (not supplied). A dynamic microphone is recommended.
  2. Press [DVD] or [USB].
  3. Start playback and adjust the main unit's volume.
  4. Press [MIC].
  5. Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to adjust the microphone volume and start singing.

Adding Echo Effect

  1. Press [ECHO].
  2. Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to adjust the echo level.

Changing the Sound Settings

Sound Mode/Subwoofer Level

Sound Mode

Press [SOUND] to select the sound effect. The sound effect changes each time [SOUND] is pressed.

Available modes: Flat, Heavy, Clear, Soft.

You can also change the setting by pressing [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] while a sound effect is displayed. [Display shows "FLAT"]

Subwoofer Level

  1. Press [SOUND].
  2. Press [Mode Select Left] or [Mode Select Right] to select the settings.

You can adjust the amount of bass from "SUB 1" to "SUB 4". Levels can be set by source.

Note: Sound effects may not be available or may have no effect with some sources.

Advanced Operations

Surround Mode

Press [SRD] to select the surround effect. The surround effect changes each time [SRD] is pressed.

Available modes: "Standard", "Multi Channel Out", "Movie" (Dolby® Pro Logic II Movie), "Music" (Dolby® Pro Logic II Music), "Stereo".

Option Menu

A variety of playback operations and settings can be performed through this menu. Available options differ depending on the playing contents and the unit's condition.

  1. Press [OPTION]. [Example menu: Info, Random, Zoom, Repeat, Subtitle, Angle]
  2. Select an item and change the settings.

To exit the screen: Press [OPTION].

Info

Displays status messages about what is currently being played. Depending on the media, more information may be displayed by pressing [OPTION] again. Display may vary by media and content.

[Example: Title 1/2, Chapter 1/20, Elapsed time 00:05:14]

Random

Select whether or not to play randomly.

Zoom

Magnifies videos and pictures.

Repeat

Select the item you want to repeat.

Subtitle

Change the subtitle settings.

Angle

Select the camera angle.

Setup Menu

Change the unit's settings. Settings remain intact even when the unit is switched to standby.

  2. Select an item and change the settings.

When all speakers are placed in a row at the front, adjust settings for optimum effects.

Test Tone

Each speaker will output a test signal sound in sequence.

Delay Time

Synchronization between picture and sound is corrected by adjusting the delay time of the audio output.

Dynamic Range

Allows listening at low volumes while still hearing dialogue clearly.

Whisper Mode

Enhances surround effect for low volume sound (convenient for late-night viewing).

Speaker Installation Option

Consult a qualified building contractor when attaching speakers to a wall. Improper attachment may result in damage to the wall and speakers, and personal injury.

Attaching to a Wall

All speakers (except subwoofer) can be attached to a wall. The wall or pillar must be capable of supporting 10 kg per screw.

  1. Drive a screw (not supplied) into the wall. [Description of screw placement and measurements A-E]
    • A: At least 30 mm
    • B: Ø 4.0 mm
    • C: Ø 7.0 mm to 9.4 mm
    • D: Wall or pillar
    • E: 5.5 mm to 7.5 mm
  2. Fit the speaker securely onto the screw(s) with the hole(s). [Description of correct and incorrect speaker mounting positions]

Use the measurements indicated below. Leave at least 20 mm of space above the speaker and 10 mm on each side for fitting.

Reattaching the Speaker Cable to the Stand

Straighten the cable and run through the stand. Pull out the cable through the hole. [Description of cable routing]

To Prevent Tipping/Falling of the Speakers

Secure the speaker using the tie-down area on the rear and a cord (not supplied). Attach the speaker to a wall anchor (not supplied) permanently fixed to the wall.

  1. Thread a cord to the speaker. Use a cord less than Ø 2.0 mm, capable of supporting over 10 kg. [Description of cord attachment to speaker]

Firmware Updates

Panasonic may release updated firmware to add or improve features. These updates are available free of charge.

Download the latest firmware from http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/ (English only) and burn it to a CD-R to update the firmware.

DO NOT DISCONNECT the unit from AC power or perform any operation while the update is in process. After installation, "donE" will be displayed on the unit's display.

Troubleshooting Guide

Before requesting service, perform the following checks. If the problem persists, consult your dealer.

Unit Does Not Respond to Remote Control or Unit's Buttons

Disconnect the AC mains lead, wait 1 minute, then reconnect it.

Check for latest firmware: Panasonic continuously improves firmware for the latest technology (page 19).

The following do not indicate a problem:

General Operation

This Unit Does Not Recognize the USB Connection Correctly

Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. If still not recognized, turn the unit off and on again.

USB devices may not be recognized when connected via:

If connecting a USB HDD, use the USB cable supplied with the HDD.

Picture

Images do not appear on the TV. Picture is distorted. Jittering occurs.

Sound

No sound. Low volume. Distorted sound. Cannot hear desired audio type.

No sound from the TV.
