Firmware Updates
Panasonic continuously improves the unit's firmware to enhance customer experience with the latest technology. It is recommended to update your firmware as soon as notified. - Do not remove covers.
- Do not attempt to repair this unit yourself. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Do not let metal objects fall inside this unit.
- Do not place heavy items on this unit.
AC Mains Lead
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage:
- Ensure the power supply voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on this unit.
- Insert the mains plug fully into the socket outlet.
- Do not pull, bend, or place heavy items on the lead.
- Do not handle the plug with wet hands.
- Hold the mains plug body when disconnecting the plug.
- Do not use a damaged mains plug or socket outlet.
The mains plug is the disconnecting device. Install this unit so that the mains plug can be unplugged from the socket outlet immediately.
Speaker
To prevent injury, this apparatus must be securely attached to the wall in accordance with the installation instructions.
Small object
- Keep batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.
- Keep screws out of reach of children to prevent swallowing.
CAUTION
Unit
- This unit utilizes a laser. Use of controls or adjustments other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
- Do not place sources of naked flames, such as lighted candles, on this unit.
- This unit may receive radio interference caused by mobile telephones during use. If such interference occurs, please increase separation between this unit and the mobile telephone.
- This unit is intended for use in tropical climates.
Placement
Place this unit on an even surface.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or product damage:
- Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet, or any other confined space. Ensure this unit is well ventilated.
- Do not obstruct this unit's ventilation openings with newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, or similar items.
- Do not expose this unit to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, and excessive vibration.
Speaker (Continued)
- Use only supplied speakers: The main unit and supplied speakers are to be used only as indicated in these operating instructions. Failure to do so may lead to damage to the amplifier and/or speakers, and may result in fire risk. Consult a qualified service person if damage has occurred or if you experience a sudden change in performance.
- Be careful not to cross (short-circuit) or reverse the polarity of the speaker wires, as doing so may damage the speakers.
- Hold the speaker firmly to avoid injury by dropping the speaker when carrying.
- You can damage your speakers and shorten their useful life if you play sound at high levels over extended periods.
- Do not touch the front area of the speakers; hold by the sides.
- Place speakers on flat, secure surfaces.
- To avoid injury by falling or dropping the speaker, place speaker cables with care to avoid tripping or hooking.
- Do not stand on the speaker. Be cautious when children are near.
Batteries
Mishandling of batteries can cause electrolyte leakage and may cause a fire.
- Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the type recommended by the manufacturer.
- When disposing of batteries, please contact your local authorities or dealer for the correct method of disposal.
- Do not mix old and new batteries or different types at the same time.
- Do not heat or expose to flame.
- Do not leave batteries in a car exposed to direct sunlight for a long period of time with doors and windows closed.
- Do not take apart or short circuit.
- Do not recharge alkaline or manganese batteries.
- Do not use batteries if the covering has been peeled off.
- Remove batteries if you do not intend to use the remote control for a long period of time. Store in a cool, dark place.
Disposal and Care
To Dispose or Transfer This Unit
The unit may retain user settings. If you discard the unit, follow the procedure to return all settings to factory presets to delete user settings (refer to page 20, "To return all settings to the factory preset."). The operation history may be recorded in the unit's memory.
Information on Disposal in Other Countries outside the European Union
The symbol [disposal symbol] is only valid in the European Union. If you wish to discard this product, please contact your local authorities or dealer and ask for the correct method of disposal.
Unit and Media Care
Clean This Unit with a Soft, Dry Cloth
- Never use alcohol, paint thinner, or benzine to clean this unit.
- Before using a chemically treated cloth, carefully read the instructions that came with the cloth.
Do not use commercially available lens cleaners, as they may cause malfunction. Cleaning of the lens is generally not necessary, but depends on the operating environment.
Clean Discs
DO: Wipe with a damp cloth and then wipe dry with a dry cloth.

Disc Handling Precautions
- Handle discs by the edges to avoid inadvertent scratches or fingerprints.
- Do not attach labels or stickers to discs.
- Do not use disc cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electricity prevention liquids, or any other solvent.
- Do not use the following discs:
- Discs with exposed adhesive from removed stickers or labels (e.g., rented discs).
- Discs that are badly warped or cracked.
- Irregularly shaped discs, such as heart shapes.
AC Mains Lead (For the AC mains plug of three pins)
How to Replace the Fuse
The fuse location differs according to the type of AC mains plug (Figures A and B). Confirm the AC mains plug fitted and follow the instructions below. Illustrations may differ from actual AC mains plugs.

Region Management Information
The unit can playback DVD-Video discs of the following regions codes, including “ALL”:
- Example: For South East Asia [Region 3 symbol]
- For the Middle East and South Africa [Region 2 symbol]
Finalize
Any DVD-R/RW/R DL, +R/+RW/+R DL, and CD-R/RW recorded by a recorder need to be finalized by that recorder to play on this unit. Please refer to the recorder's instructions.
Music CD
Operation and sound quality of CDs that do not comply with CD-DA specifications (e.g., copy control CDs) cannot be guaranteed to work.
USB Device
- This unit does not guarantee connection with all USB devices.
- This unit does not support USB device charging.
- FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS file systems are supported.
- This unit supports USB2.0 High Speed.
- This unit supports an HDD formatted in FAT32 and NTFS. If the HDD is not recognized, the power to the HDD may not be supplied. Supply power from an external source.
Note:
- It may not be possible to play the above media in some cases due to the type of media, recording condition, recording method, or how files were created.
- Disc producers can control how discs are played, so you may not always be able to control playback as described in these operating instructions. Read the disc's instructions carefully.
Setting Up the System
Follow the "Owner's Manual <Setup>" to set up the system first.
Precautions
Speakers
- Keep your speakers at least 10 mm away from the system to avoid noise generated by resonance.
- For optional wall mount, refer to page 17.
- When placing all speakers in a row at the front, set "5.1ch Front Layout" to "On" (page 16).
Centre Speaker
- Place it on a rack or shelf so it does not interfere with the TV's various sensors (ambient light, etc.). Vibration caused by the speaker can disrupt the picture if it is placed directly on the TV.
Surround Speakers
- Place the speakers at the same height or higher than ear level.
HDMI
If you use an optional HDMI cable, use ARC* compatible High Speed HDMI cables. Non-HDMI-compliant cables cannot be utilized. It is recommended to use Panasonic's HDMI cable. When outputting 1080p signal, please use HDMI cables 5.0 meters or less.
* ARC is an abbreviation of Audio Return Channel, also known as HDMI ARC. This feature allows a home theatre system to receive and play audio from the TV through a single HDMI cable without additional wiring.
DIGITAL AUDIO IN
The dual audio cannot be changed. Change the setting on the connected device.
VIDEO OUT
Do not make the video connections through the VCR. Due to copy guard protection, the picture may not display properly.
AC Mains Lead
Two AC mains leads are supplied. Use the AC mains lead that matches the socket for your area.
- Saudi Arabia: 3-pin AC mains lead
This unit consumes a small amount of AC power (page 22) even when turned off in standby mode. For energy conservation, disconnect the unit if you will not be using it for an extended period.

Basic Operations
Enjoying TV with the Speakers of the System
When the system is connected to the HDMI terminal of an ARC-compatible TV, the system's speakers output the TV's sound. For other connection methods, follow the steps below.
Press [EXT-IN] several times to select the appropriate external input mode:
- "AUX In" ↔ "OPt In"
Reduce the volume on the TV to its minimum, and then adjust the volume of the main unit.
Playback
- Turn on the TV and select the appropriate video input.
- Press [Open/Close].
- Insert the media. [Description of media insertion, ensuring correct orientation]
- Press [DVD] or [USB]. Playback starts depending on the media.
- Select the item to play and press [OK]. Repeat if necessary.
Notes:
- If you press [Play/Pause] during picture playback, a slideshow will start (JPEG only).
- If the media contains a music file, the music will also play back during picture playback.
- MPEG2 videos dragged, dropped, or copied/pasted to media may not play back.
- To save electricity, the unit automatically turns off after 20 minutes of inactivity during playback (e.g., paused, displaying menu, still pictures). Refer to page 15, "Auto Standby".
Stop
Press [Stop]. The stopping point is memorized.
Resume Play Function
Press [Play/Pause] to restart from the memorized point. The point is cleared if the media is removed.
Enjoying Bluetooth®
Panasonic is not responsible for data or information compromised during wireless transmission.
Restrictions of Use
- All devices must conform to standards set by Bluetooth SIG, Inc.
- Usage with all Bluetooth® devices is not guaranteed.
- Connection or operation may differ depending on device specifications and settings.
- This system supports Bluetooth® security features, but security may not be sufficient depending on the environment and settings. Transmit data wirelessly with caution.
- This system cannot transmit data to a Bluetooth® device.
- Environment, obstacles, and interference may shorten communication range or cause incorrect operation (e.g., audio interruptions).
- Do not use this system near equipment or in environments sensitive to radio frequency interference (e.g., airports, hospitals, laboratories).
Bluetooth® Operations
By using the Bluetooth® connection, you can listen to sound from the Bluetooth® device wirelessly. Refer to the Bluetooth® device's operating instructions for details.
- Turn on the Bluetooth® feature of the device.
- Press [Source Select Button].
- Press and hold [PAIRING]. "PAIRING" will be displayed, and the unit will enter pairing standby mode. [Display shows "PAIRING"]
- Select "Panasonic XH" from the Bluetooth® menu of the device. [Display shows "CONNECTED"]
- Start play on the Bluetooth® device.
Notes:
- If prompted for a passkey, enter "0000".
- Up to 8 devices can be registered. Pairing a 9th device replaces one of the older registered devices.
- This system can only connect to one device at a time.
- When "BLUETOOTH" is selected as the source, the system automatically tries to connect to the last connected device. If connection fails, try again.
- Switching the source will disconnect the Bluetooth® device.
- If image and sound are out of sync during playback, restart the playback application. If the problem persists, connect the Bluetooth® device and unit with an audio cable.
- Refer to "Bluetooth Standby" (page 17).
“HDMI CEC”
This unit supports the "HDMI CEC" (Consumer Electronics Control) function. See the operating instructions for connected equipment for operational details.
Preparation
Set "HDMI CEC" to "On" (page 15). (Default setting is "On".)
Power on Link
When the unit starts playback, the TV will automatically turn on and display the unit's screen.
Power Off Link
All connected "HDMI CEC" equipment automatically turns off when you switch the TV off.
Playing Music Continuously Even After Turning Off the TV
Select "Video" in "Power Off Link" (page 15).
Note: Operation cannot be guaranteed on all HDMI CEC equipment.
Listening to the Radio
You can preset up to 30 channels.
Tuning and Presetting
- Press [RADIO]. [Display shows frequency tuning]
- Press [Tuning Up] or [Tuning Down] to select the frequency.
- Press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward] to start automatic tuning. Tuning stops when a station is found.
To Preset the Channel
- Press [PGM]. [Display shows preset channel number]
- Press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward] to select a channel number.
- Press [OK].
Listening to a Preset Channel
- Press [RADIO].
- Press the number buttons to select the channel (e.g., for channel 01: press [0] then [1]; for channel 12: press [1] then [2]). Alternatively, press [Seek Forward] or [Seek Backward].
To Erase All Preset Channels
- Press [RADIO].
- Press and hold [PGM]. "ErASE" will flash on the unit's display.
- Press [OK].
Enjoying Karaoke
Preparation
Before connecting/disconnecting microphones, reduce the main unit's volume to its minimum.
- Connect the microphone(s) (not supplied). A dynamic microphone is recommended.
- Press [DVD] or [USB].
- Start playback and adjust the main unit's volume.
- Press [MIC].
- Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to adjust the microphone volume and start singing.
Adding Echo Effect
- Press [ECHO].
- Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] to adjust the echo level.
Notes:
- If strange noise (howling) occurs during use, move the microphone away from the speakers or lower the microphone volume.
- When not using the microphone, set the microphone volume to minimum and disconnect it.
Changing the Sound Settings
Sound Mode/Subwoofer Level
Sound Mode
Press [SOUND] to select the sound effect. The sound effect changes each time [SOUND] is pressed.
Available modes: Flat, Heavy, Clear, Soft.
You can also change the setting by pressing [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] while a sound effect is displayed. [Display shows "FLAT"]
Subwoofer Level
- Press [SOUND].
- Press [Mode Select Left] or [Mode Select Right] to select the settings.
You can adjust the amount of bass from "SUB 1" to "SUB 4". Levels can be set by source.
Note: Sound effects may not be available or may have no effect with some sources.
Advanced Operations
Surround Mode
Press [SRD] to select the surround effect. The surround effect changes each time [SRD] is pressed.
Available modes: "Standard", "Multi Channel Out", "Movie" (Dolby® Pro Logic II Movie), "Music" (Dolby® Pro Logic II Music), "Stereo".
- Standard: Sound is output as recorded/encoded. Speaker output varies by source.
- Multi Channel Out: Enjoy sound from front and surround speakers, even with stereo sources.
- Movie: Suitable for movie software or content recorded in Dolby® Surround.
- Music: Adds 5.1-channel effects to stereo sources.
- Stereo: Play any source in stereo. Sound is output to front speakers and subwoofer only.
Option Menu
A variety of playback operations and settings can be performed through this menu. Available options differ depending on the playing contents and the unit's condition.
- Press [OPTION]. [Example menu: Info, Random, Zoom, Repeat, Subtitle, Angle]
- Select an item and change the settings.
To exit the screen: Press [OPTION].
Info
Displays status messages about what is currently being played. Depending on the media, more information may be displayed by pressing [OPTION] again. Display may vary by media and content.
[Example: Title 1/2, Chapter 1/20, Elapsed time 00:05:14]
Random
Select whether or not to play randomly.
Zoom
Magnifies videos and pictures.
Repeat
Select the item you want to repeat.
Subtitle
Change the subtitle settings.
Angle
Select the camera angle.
Setup Menu
Change the unit's settings. Settings remain intact even when the unit is switched to standby.

- Select an item and change the settings.
To exit the screen: Press [SETUP].
SYSTEM
- TV System: Perform setup to match the TV System of the connected TV.
- Display Dim: Changes the brightness of the unit's display.
- Screen Saver: Prevents image retention. If set to "On", the screen saver activates after 10 minutes of inactivity when a playback content list is displayed. Not available during playback or pause.
- Sleep Timer: Set the sleep timer.
- HDMI CEC: Enable the "HDMI CEC" function when connected to a compatible device.
- Power Off Link: Select the power off link setting for HDMI CEC operation.
- Video/Audio: The unit turns off automatically when the TV is turned off.
- Video: The unit does not turn off automatically when playing back audio-only content.
- Auto Standby: Switches the home theater to standby mode after 20 minutes of no activity in disc or USB mode.
LANGUAGE
- OSD: Choose the language for menus and on-screen messages.
- Audio: Choose the language for audio.
- Subtitle: Choose the language for subtitles.
- Menu: Choose the language for disc menus.
AUDIO
- HDMI Audio Out: Select whether to output audio from HDMI.
- Digital Audio Out: Select the audio signal to output. Select "PCM" if the connected equipment cannot decode the respective audio format. This unit decodes the audio format and transmits it. Improper settings may result in static or noisy audio.
5.1ch Front Layout
When all speakers are placed in a row at the front, adjust settings for optimum effects.

- Surround Mode: Set the surround effects (page 14).
- Sound Mode: Set the sound effects (page 13).
- Subwoofer Level: Adjust the amount of bass (page 13).
- Speaker: Press [OK] to show speaker settings.
- Speaker Level: Set the volume of each speaker.
- Speaker Delay: For optimum 5.1-channel listening, all speakers (except subwoofer) should be equidistant from the seating position. If distance 1 or 2 is less than 3, measure the distance and adjust the time to compensate (see table below).

Test Tone
Each speaker will output a test signal sound in sequence.
Delay Time
Synchronization between picture and sound is corrected by adjusting the delay time of the audio output.
Dynamic Range
Allows listening at low volumes while still hearing dialogue clearly.
Whisper Mode
Enhances surround effect for low volume sound (convenient for late-night viewing).
Karaoke Setup
Press [OK] to show settings:
- Echo level: Add echo effect for microphone audio (page 13).
- Mic Volume: Adjust microphone volume (page 13).
Speaker Installation Option
Consult a qualified building contractor when attaching speakers to a wall. Improper attachment may result in damage to the wall and speakers, and personal injury.
Attaching to a Wall
All speakers (except subwoofer) can be attached to a wall. The wall or pillar must be capable of supporting 10 kg per screw.
- Drive a screw (not supplied) into the wall. [Description of screw placement and measurements A-E]
- A: At least 30 mm
- B: Ø 4.0 mm
- C: Ø 7.0 mm to 9.4 mm
- D: Wall or pillar
- E: 5.5 mm to 7.5 mm
- Fit the speaker securely onto the screw(s) with the hole(s). [Description of correct and incorrect speaker mounting positions]

Use the measurements indicated below. Leave at least 20 mm of space above the speaker and 10 mm on each side for fitting.

Reattaching the Speaker Cable to the Stand
Straighten the cable and run through the stand. Pull out the cable through the hole. [Description of cable routing]
To Prevent Tipping/Falling of the Speakers
Secure the speaker using the tie-down area on the rear and a cord (not supplied). Attach the speaker to a wall anchor (not supplied) permanently fixed to the wall.
- Thread a cord to the speaker. Use a cord less than Ø 2.0 mm, capable of supporting over 10 kg. [Description of cord attachment to speaker]

Firmware Updates
Panasonic may release updated firmware to add or improve features. These updates are available free of charge.
Download the latest firmware from http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/ (English only) and burn it to a CD-R to update the firmware.
DO NOT DISCONNECT the unit from AC power or perform any operation while the update is in process. After installation, "donE" will be displayed on the unit's display.
Troubleshooting Guide
Before requesting service, perform the following checks. If the problem persists, consult your dealer.
Unit Does Not Respond to Remote Control or Unit's Buttons
Disconnect the AC mains lead, wait 1 minute, then reconnect it.
Check for latest firmware: Panasonic continuously improves firmware for the latest technology (page 19).
The following do not indicate a problem:
- Regular disc rotating sounds.
- Image disturbance during search.
General Operation
- To return to factory defaults: Select "Restore" in "Default" in the Setup menu (page 17).
- To return all settings to factory preset:
- Turn the unit on.
- Press [Open/Close].
- Press and hold [Stop] and [Play/Pause] on the main unit simultaneously for over 5 seconds.
- Forgotten Ratings Password: To cancel the ratings level, restore default settings as described in "To return all settings to the factory preset." (above).
This Unit Does Not Recognize the USB Connection Correctly
Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. If still not recognized, turn the unit off and on again.
USB devices may not be recognized when connected via:
- A USB hub
- A USB extension cable
If connecting a USB HDD, use the USB cable supplied with the HDD.
Picture
Images do not appear on the TV. Picture is distorted. Jittering occurs.
- The "Resolution" or "TV System" setting may be incorrect or not match the TV. Restore default settings as described in "To return all settings to the factory preset." (page 20).
- PAL discs may not be viewed correctly on an NTSC TV.
- If irregular coloring occurs, turn the TV off for about 30 minutes. If it persists, move speakers further from the TV.
Sound
No sound. Low volume. Distorted sound. Cannot hear desired audio type.
- Sound may be distorted if connected via HDMI, depending on the connected equipment.
- Multi-channel audio from a TV may not output in its original multi-channel form. If the device has an optical audio output, connect it to this unit's DIGITAL AUDIO IN terminal (page 7).
No sound from the TV.
- If there is no sound from equipment connected to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN terminal, ensure the optical audio output of the equipment is set to PCM.
Reference
Playback
- Disc cannot be played: The disc may be dirty (page 3).
- Alternative subtitles cannot be selected: You may need to use the disc's menus to change subtitles, as the Option menu may not support it for some discs.
Radio
- Distorted sound or noise is heard: Adjust the antenna position.
- A beat sound is heard: Try to maintain a certain distance between the antenna and the TV.
Bluetooth®
- Pairing cannot be done: Check the Bluetooth® device condition.
- Device cannot be connected: Try pairing the device again. This system may be connected to another device; disconnect the other device and try pairing again.
- Device connected but audio not heard: For some built-in Bluetooth® devices, you must manually set the audio output to "Panasonic XH". Refer to the device's operating instructions.
- Sound is interrupted: The communication range is 10 m. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to the main unit. Interference from other 2.4 GHz devices (wireless routers, microwaves, cordless phones) may occur. Bring the Bluetooth® device closer to the main unit and distance it from other devices.

- Error Disc: You inserted an incompatible disc, or the disc may be upside down.
- This operation is not available: Some operations are unsupported by the unit.
