Background
Maxim Hotel Auckland is a leading hospitality provider situated in the heart of Auckland. Offering a range of amenities for both business and leisure travellers, the hotel provides high-speed internet access and reliable network connectivity as a core service to meet the demands of its guests and staff. In a competitive industry where seamless operations and a positive guest experience are paramount, Maxim Hotel Auckland relies on a robust, scalable network infrastructure to support its operations.
The Challenge
- TP-Link, in collaboration with UnicomNZ and Maxim Hotel Auckland, worked to design a reliable and easy-to-manage networking solution. UnicomNZ, an ICT provider offering services for individuals, education, businesses, and government clients, initially used a mix of Omada by TP-Link and Huawei GPON products. At the time, Omada by TP-Link lacked its own GPON solutions, so Huawei was added, creating several challenges:
- Complex Network Management: Managing two product lines required separate systems for monitoring and configuration.
- Compatibility Issues: Integration problems caused disruptions and delayed troubleshooting.
Higher Costs: The dual-brand setup increased operational costs and inefficiencies.
UnicomNZ sought a simpler, more cost-effective solution.
"The Omada solution has been seamless to implement, and the local TP-Link ANZ support team was instrumental in resolving initial integration challenges. The network is now more reliable, easier to manage, and much more cost-effective than before."
TP-Link Solution & Implementation
To address these issues, UnicomNZ decided to switch to Omada's GPON solution, replacing Huawei products in the network. Key factors in this decision included:
- Unified Network Management: Omada's GPON integrates with its SDN platform, centralising management and simplifying operations for UnicomNZ.
- Local Support: TP-Link helped integrate the Aginet GPON product into Omada SDN, ensuring compatibility.
- Familiarity: UnicomNZ's prior experience with Omada by TP-Link products made the transition easier. The intuitive user interface and logical design of the Omada system made it easier for the hotel's IT team to adopt the new platform without significant retraining.
- Future-Proofing: With the hospitality industry shifting to high-speed GPON, the hotel recognised the long-term value of investing in a scalable solution.
The Results
The shift to Omada GPON provided several key benefits:
- ✔️ Simplified Management: The transition to a unified system significantly simplified network management, as all devices could be monitored and controlled from a single platform, reducing the need for multiple management systems.
- ✔️ Reduced Compatibility Issues: By eliminating the need to manage two separate brands, Maxim Hotel experienced fewer network disruptions, and compatibility issues were drastically reduced.
- ✔️ Cost Savings: The switch to a single-vendor solution helped the hotel reduce costs related to network management, including the elimination of duplicate vendor contracts, and technical support agreements.
- ✔️ Improved Network Performance: The Omada GPON solution provided fast, scalable internet connectivity that met the needs of the hotel's large guest and staff network, improving overall performance and the guest experience.
Customer Feedback
Maxim Hotel Auckland expressed satisfaction with the Omada by TP-Link GPON solution and the support received from the UnicomNZ team.
The Outcome
By adopting Omada's GPON solution, UnicomNZ successfully streamlined the hotel's network infrastructure, reduced operational costs, and enhanced the overall guest experience. The hotel is now better positioned to support the growing demand for high-speed, scalable network solutions, ensuring a reliable and future-proof network that meets the evolving needs of the hospitality industry.
