Product Overview
The JENSEN CR271ML is a 7" capacitive touch screen multimedia mechless receiver featuring AM-FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM™ Ready capability. It also includes front and rear camera inputs.
Safety Information
Safety Notices
- Video/movie playback is disabled while the vehicle is in motion as a safety feature to prevent driver distraction. Functions only operate when the vehicle is in Park and the parking brake is engaged.
- It is recommended that the JENSEN CR271ML be installed by a professional installer or an authorized dealer.
- This product is for use only in vehicles with 12VDC negative ground.
- Precautions: Ensure secure grounding, do not remove covers, avoid direct sunlight/excessive heat/water splashing, do not subject to shock, use correct fuse rating, disconnect wiring harness before fuse replacement, use provided hardware, consult dealer for installation issues or malfunctions, clean with a dry soft cloth, be aware of liquid crystal behavior in cold temperatures, use automotive-grade wiring (AWG 16 or more), and handle damaged LCDs with care as liquid crystal fluid may be hazardous.
Installation
Preparation
Read and understand the entire manual before installation. Consult a qualified technician for detailed instructions or assistance.
Before You Start
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, direct sunlight, dust, dirt, or excessive vibration.
Getting Started
- Unpack the unit from its protective packaging.
- Connect the vehicle wiring harness and antenna to the receiver's harness. Consult a qualified technician if unsure.
- Certain vehicles may require an installation dash kit and/or wiring harness adapter (sold separately).
- Reconnect the battery negative terminal.
- Test for correct operation and secure the unit back into the dashboard.
- Snap the trim ring into place if needed.
Typical Mounting Method
The unit uses a typical front-load DIN mounting method, which involves installing the main unit into a dash opening and securing it with a trim plate.
Wiring Diagram
The rear of the unit features various input/output connectors including an External MIC input, a 10A fuse, a 20-pin connector for power, speakers, illumination, reverse, parking brake, and SWC input, as well as connectors for SiriusXM Tuner and Radio Antenna. The 20-pin connector includes wires for Ignition/12V(+), Chassis Ground(-), Battery 12V(+), Illumination(+), Reverse(+), Power Antenna(+), Parking Brake(-), Remote Turn-On(+), and SWC Input.
Operation
Main Control Locations
Controls are located on the front of the unit (touchscreen) and on the included remote control. Key controls on the unit include MIC, Mode/Voice Assistant, Tune/Track Up/Down, Volume/Power/Mute, microSD Card Slot, Reset, Auxiliary Input, and USB Slot. The remote control offers functions like Power, Mode, Play/Pause, Mute, Talk, End Call, Setup, Volume, Zoom, Select, Seek, Band, Audio, Loudness, and number keys.
Remote Control Preparation
The remote control uses one 3-volt Lithium CR2025 battery. Remove the battery if the remote will not be used for an extended period. Dispose of batteries properly and avoid storing them with metallic objects.
Source Menu Operation
From the Main Menu, users can select various modes: Radio, SiriusXM®, BT Phone, USB, microSD Card, BT Audio, Aux In, AV In, Camera, and Settings. Each mode provides specific functionalities.
On-Screen Controls
On-screen controls allow adjustment of Screen Brightness, activation of Voice Assistant, access to Audio settings, and system Settings.
Audio Settings
Users can select preset EQ settings (Flat, Classic, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Beat, User) or manually adjust EQ. Surround settings (Concert, Church, Passive, Wide, Live, None) and Balance/Fader adjustments are also available.
Settings Menu
The Settings menu allows configuration of General options (OSD Language, Wallpaper, Radio Area, Time Setting, Beep, Camera, Version, Restore Default), Audio settings (Subwoofer, Loudness), Display settings (Aspect Ratio, Adjust, Panel backlight), and Bluetooth settings (Bluetooth signal, Auto Answer).
Tuner Operation (Radio)
The Tuner operation allows users to select Radio mode, tune to frequencies, manage preset stations, switch between AM/FM bands, toggle Local/Distance and Stereo/Mono reception, and utilize AS/PS (Auto Store/Preset Scan) functionality.
SiriusXM® Operation
SiriusXM® Satellite Radio provides over 140 channels. Activation requires a SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner and subscription. Users can access SiriusXM via the Main Menu, search channels by category, manage preset channels, and utilize functions like Tune Scan and Replay. Contact information for activation in the USA and Canada is provided.
Bluetooth® Operation
Before use, Bluetooth devices must be paired and connected. The unit supports auto-connect for previously paired devices. Users can dial numbers, make/end calls, transfer audio, stream music, and access the phone book. Voice activation for Siri® or Google Assistant™ is available via Bluetooth.
USB/microSD Card Operation
MP3 files can be played from USB devices or microSD cards. Users can navigate folders, select files, control playback (previous/next track, play/pause), and utilize Random and Repeat functions.
Camera Operation
The receiver supports optional front and rear cameras. Manual selection is available via the Main Menu. The unit automatically selects camera mode when connected to the vehicle's reverse light circuitry.
Auxiliary and A/V Input
Optional audio sources can be connected via the auxiliary input on the front panel or the rear A/V input. Volume can be adjusted on the external audio source.
Steering Wheel Controls
A third-party adapter is required for compatibility with OEM steering wheel controls. The CR271ML has a built-in 3.5mm SWC interface compatible with modules like PAC and METRA. Recommended controls include Volume +/-, Mute, Seek/Track +/-, Band, Mode, BT Talk, and BT End Call.
App Operation
The Jensen Smart App serves as a wireless remote control. It can be downloaded from app stores. The J-Link P1 application is available via QR code scan.
Media Compatibility
The receiver supports MP3 files with various file systems (FAT, FAT16/FAT32), file extensions (.mp3), MPEG formats (1, 2, 2.5), sampling frequencies (32/44.1/48kHz, etc.), and bitrates (32-320kbps). JPG image viewing is restricted to when the vehicle is in Park. Incompatible file types include MP3 PRO, RMP, WAV, WMV, and AAC formats.

Notes: JPG image viewer function operates only when the vehicle is in park. Incompatible file types include MP3 PRO, RMP, WAV, WMV, and AAC, protected AAC, M4A formats. MP3 playback sequence starts in the root folder; empty folders are skipped. Maximum nested folder depth is 8. Valid characters for folder/file names are A-Z (caps), 0-9, and "_". For best results, use 128kbps or higher constant bit rate and 44.1kHz or higher sampling frequency.

Warranty Information
Namsung America Inc. warrants the JENSEN CR271ML to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year (or two years* with professional installation) from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects but excludes software, installation/removal costs, and damage from misuse, accident, or improper installation. Specific license conditions for software can be found at www.jensenmobile.com.
What to Do
Before calling for service, check the troubleshooting guide. For service, pack the product carefully (preferably in original packaging) and ship it via prepaid transportation with a copy of the original receipt to an authorized service center.
