Installation & Setup
-
Turn off power to the device at the circuit breaker.
Flip the existing light switch multiple times to confirm power is off. Ensure power is off to all devices in the electrical box.
-
Remove existing device.
Identify the following wires:
- HOT or LINE: Receives power from the circuit box.
- LOAD: Directs power to your light(s).
- NEUTRAL: Required for switch operation; creates a path to return current to the power source.
- GROUND: Provides a safe path for electricity in case of a short circuit.
-
Wire the Smart Switch.
Use the included wire nuts to secure connections:
- Connect the WHITE neutral wire from the switch to the neutral wires in the box using a red wire nut.
- Connect the LOAD wire from the switch to the load wire(s) in the box.
- Connect the HOT wire from the switch to the hot wire(s) in the box.
- Connect the GREEN ground wire from the switch to the ground wire(s) in the box.
-
Secure the Smart Switch.
Fold wires neatly into the electrical box, taking care not to pinch them. Use the included screws to secure the smart switch to the electrical box. Do not fully tighten the screws yet.
-
Test the Smart Switch.
Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. Press the switch paddle to turn the light on and off. If the device is not powering on, check that the "HOT" and "LOAD" wires are not reversed.
-
Attach the Wall Plate.
Use the provided sub-plate screws to secure the sub-plate to the smart switch. Tighten the device screws to secure the switch to the electrical box. Angle the UP end of the wall plate over the top edge of the sub-plate and push it down and in until it snaps into place. To remove the wall plate, insert a flat blade screwdriver into the slot under the plate and twist gently.
-
