Introduction

DJI Power 1000 is a portable power station with a capacity of 1024 Wh, weighing approximately 13 kg, and supporting a maximum output of 2200 W. DJI Power 500 is a portable power station with a capacity of 512 Wh, weighing approximately 7.3 kg, and supporting a maximum output of 1000 W.

The power stations offer Fast Charging and Standard Charging modes for AC recharging. In Fast Charging mode, the power station can be recharged to 80% in about 50 minutes, and to 100% in about 70 minutes. In Standard Charging mode, operational noise is reduced, and battery cell lifespan is extended. Recharging to 100% takes about 2 hours. The power stations feature SDC/SDC Lite ports, allowing them to charge DJI Intelligent Flight Batteries and other devices, supporting power supply in various scenarios.

DJI Power 500

The DJI Power 500 features the following:

Display Screen

The display screen provides detailed information about the power station's status.

System Warnings:

  • ERRBI: Error code.
  • Temperature Error: If the temperature is abnormal during Fast Charging, the temperature error icon will flash. Charging power may be reduced for battery lifespan and safety. The icon will be bright if the temperature is too high or too low. Wait for the temperature to return to normal.
  • OVERLOAD: Overload warning.

Powering On/Off

1. Power On/Off: Press and hold the power button for at least two seconds. The display screen will turn on automatically after powering up.

2. Turn Display On/Off: When the power station is on, press the power button once.

Charging External Devices

Output AC

The power station has two AC output ports. Connect external devices to the AC output ports and press the AC output button for AC power supply.

The power station features Automatic AC Shutdown and Automatic Shutdown to save power.

  • Automatic AC Shutdown: Press the AC output button once to activate AC output, and the AC output indicator will flash slowly. AC output will automatically turn off after half an hour if no device is connected to the AC output port to save electricity.
  • Continuous AC Output: Press and hold the AC output button to activate AC output. The AC output indicator will show a solid light, and AC output will not turn off automatically. This provides continuous AC power to devices that operate intermittently, such as refrigerators.
  • Automatic Shutdown on Low Output Power: When AC output is turned off, the power station will automatically shut down if no device is charging via any output port for one hour.

When recharging with AC input power at different frequencies, the power station will automatically switch to the same frequency as the input power. To manually switch the AC output frequency, disconnect the power station from the AC outlet while AC output is active, then press and hold the AC output button for 10 seconds.

Internal electronic components have a waterproof coating. A slight odor may be present when using large amounts of power. The odor will disappear naturally with daily use.

Output USB

The power station has two USB-A ports and two USB-C ports. Connect external devices to the USB-A or USB-C ports for power supply.

Fast Charging DJI Aircraft Batteries

DJI Power 1000 has one SDC port and one SDC Lite port, while DJI Power 500 has one SDC Lite port. The power station can quickly charge supported DJI Intelligent Flight Batteries using an SDC fast charging cable (sold separately).

Other SDC Outputs

The power station can also be used with other SDC cables (sold separately) to charge different devices via the SDC/SDC Lite ports.

DJI Power SDC to Car Charger Plug Cable (12 V)

The power station can charge car-powered devices like car refrigerators using this cable.

  • Ensure the external device is within the cable's output specifications (voltage 13.6 V, current 10 A, power 136 W).

DJI Power SDC to XT60 Cable (12 V)

The power station can provide 12V DC input for devices with an XT60 port using this cable.

  • DO NOT connect directly to a lithium battery with an XT60 port using the DJI Power SDC to XT60 cable. Ensure the power station is connected to a balance charger first.

Recharging the Power Station

AC Charging

The power station provides Fast Charging and Standard Charging modes for AC recharging.

Fast Charging Mode: In Fast Charging mode, the charging power is higher. It takes approximately 50 minutes to recharge the power station to 80%, and about 70 minutes to 100%.

Standard Charging Mode: In Standard Charging mode, the charging power is lower and operational noise is reduced, making it suitable for overnight charging. Recharging in Standard Charging mode can extend the battery cell lifespan. It takes about two hours to recharge the power station to 100%.

Taking the DJI Power 1000 as an example, follow the steps below for AC charging:

  1. Open the port cover and connect the DJI Power 1000 to an AC power outlet using the AC power cable included in the package.
  2. Switch the recharging mode switch to set the recharging mode as 1200W Fast Charging mode or 600W Standard Charging mode. For DJI Power 500, the recharging mode can be set as 540W Fast Charging mode or 270W Standard Charging mode.

  • Disconnect the AC power outlet when charging is complete.
  • It is recommended to use Standard Charging mode to extend battery lifespan.
  • The power station provides battery lifespan protection strategies. If the power station is recharged in Fast Charging mode for five consecutive cycles, it will automatically switch to Standard Charging mode for the sixth Fast Charging cycle for battery maintenance. This maintenance process takes about 20 minutes.
  • If the temperature is abnormal during Fast Charging mode, the temperature error icon on the display screen will flash slowly. Actual charging power may be reduced to ensure battery lifespan and safety.

Solar Charging

The power station can be connected to solar panels using the DJI Power Solar Panel Adapter Module (MPPT) or the DJI Power Car Charger to SDC Cable for solar recharging. Both accessories are sold separately.

Taking the DJI Power 1000 as an example, follow the steps below for solar recharging:

  1. Unfold the solar panel, support it with a prop, and align the panel facing the sun. Adjust the angle of the support prop. It is recommended that the solar panel surface be perpendicular to the sunlight. Ensure the solar panel is not covered by any obstructions.
  2. Connect the solar panel using the XT60 cable to the solar panel adapter module to start recharging.

  • Follow the solar panel usage instructions. DO NOT mix solar panel types, as the device may be damaged.
  • Up to three solar panels can be connected to the adapter module and used in parallel (not in series). The DJI Power 1000 can connect two solar panel adapter modules and up to six solar panels for solar recharging. The DJI Power 500 can connect one solar panel adapter module and up to three solar panels for solar recharging.
  • The DJI Power Car Charger to SDC Cable allows one solar panel to be connected for solar recharging. The maximum current of the solar panel must be less than 10 A and the power output must be less than 100 W.
  • It is recommended to use official DJI Zignes solar panels. If using unrecommended solar panels, ensure they meet all the following requirements to avoid damage to the solar panel adapter and power station:
  1. Open-circuit voltage is less than 30 V.
  2. Maximum current of a single solar panel is less than 10 A.
  3. If more than one solar panel is used, the total power is less than 400 W.
  • For DJI Power 500, the maximum input power is limited to 300 W when using the SDC Lite port for solar charging.
  • Keep the power station away from direct sunlight while charging. Overheating can cause damage to the device.
  • Prevent leaves and other objects from covering the solar panel surface. Placing the solar panel in a partially shaded area will affect power generation efficiency and cause overcurrent, which may damage components.
  • Wet a soft cloth with clean water and wipe the surface to clean the solar panel.

Car Charging

The DJI Power Mobile Outlet to SDC Adapter can be used to connect a car's power port to the SDC port (or SDC Lite port) of the power station for car charging.

  • Ensure the car's power port input voltage is within the range of 12-30 V and the maximum input current is less than 8 A. Otherwise, it may cause abnormal performance or damage to the power station.
  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the car's power port and the car engine is started before recharging.

USB-C Charging Port

The DJI Power 500 can be recharged using a USB Power Delivery charger via the USB-C port with a maximum charging power of 100 W. It also supports simultaneous power input using two USB-C ports for a maximum charging power of 200 W.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

The power station supports Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Connect the power station to an AC outlet, and connect external devices such as a computer to the power station. Press the AC button once, and an indicator will appear on the display screen. In this mode, the AC outlet powers the power station and the connected device. The UPS is activated by default.

If a sudden power outage occurs, the power station can automatically switch to battery power within 20 ms, ensuring that connected devices remain in normal operation.

  • The power station only supports basic UPS features and does not support Oms switching. DO NOT connect the power station to devices that require Omdtk UPS, such as medical equipment, data servers, or workstations that store critical data. Otherwise, the devices may malfunction or lose data.
  • This feature is not available in some regions. Read local laws and regulations for more information.

DJI Power 1000 Extensions

1/4" Threaded Hole

The DJI Power 1000 is equipped with two 1/4" threaded holes, allowing users to mount the DJI Power Solar Panel Adapter Module (MPPT) to the power station as follows:

Mount one adapter module to the power station following Figure A.

Align the mounting holes on the bottom of the bracket and mount two adapter modules to the power station following Figure B.

  • Users can also mount devices with 1/4" screws to the power station.

Protective Storage Bag

The DJI Power 1000 can be used with a protective storage bag. This bag protects the power station from scratches and dust, and makes it more convenient to carry the power station.

Open the front part of the bag to connect external devices to the power station, and the back part of the bag to store cables and accessories.

When using the DJI Power 1000 with the protective storage bag, be sure to open the zippers on both sides of the bag to avoid blocking ventilation, which can cause overheating.

Appendix

Firmware Update

The firmware version of DJI Power 1000 and DJI Power 500 can be updated using DJI Assistant 2 (Power Series). Ensure that the computer is connected to the internet during the firmware update.

Follow the instructions below to ensure a successful firmware update:

  1. Turn off the device. Press and hold the AC button and the power button simultaneously until LOAD appears on the display screen.
  2. Connect the computer to the designated USB-C port as shown in the illustration.

  1. Connect the device to an AC power outlet if updating the firmware of DJI Power 1000 with a nominal voltage of 100 V or 120 V. Skip this step if updating the firmware of other power station models.
  2. Launch DJI Assistant 2, select the product, and click the firmware update button on the left side.
  3. Select the firmware version, read the instructions carefully in DJI Assistant 2, and click update. The firmware will be downloaded and uploaded to the device automatically.
  4. The firmware will be updated automatically, and the display screen will show the update progress. Wait for the process to complete. The device will restart automatically after the firmware update is finished.
  • DO NOT turn off the device or disconnect it from the computer during the firmware update.
  • DO NOT disconnect the device from the AC power outlet when updating the firmware of DJI Power 1000 with a nominal voltage of 100 V or 120 V.
  • If the firmware update fails, the display screen will show UPGD FAIL. Disconnect the device from the computer and AC outlet, press and hold the power button for five seconds to turn off the device, then try again.

Maintenance

  • If the power station needs to be stored for a long time, it is recommended to discharge the power station to 60%. Storing with a low power level can lead to over-discharge.
  • The power station should be stored at a storage temperature of -10° to 45°C (14° to 113°F), and in a cool, dry environment without direct sunlight. DO NOT place the power station in water or in a place where water may leak.
  • DO NOT store the power station for extended periods after it is fully charged. Otherwise, the battery may lose charge and cause irreparable damage to the battery cells.
  • Charge and discharge the power station every four months to maintain battery performance: discharge the power station to 15%, turn it off for more than two hours, then charge it to 100% in Standard Charging mode.
  • If visible deposits are present, clean the ports with a clean, dry cloth. DO NOT clean the power station with alcohol or other flammable solvents.
