Safety Notes

DANGER: Electric shock caused by high voltages inside!

Within the unit there are areas where high voltages may be present. To reduce the risk of electric shock do not remove any covers unless the AC mains power cord is removed. Covers should be removed by qualified service personnel only. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

DANGER: Electric shock caused by short circuit!

Always use proper ready-made insulated mains cabling (power cord) with a protective contact plug. Do not modify the mains cable or the plug. Failure to do so could result in electric shock/death or fire. If in doubt, seek advice from a registered electrician.

Ensure that the input voltage (AC outlet) matches the voltage rating of the product. Failure to do so could result in damage to the product and possibly the user. Unplug the unit before electrical storms occur and when unused for long periods of time.

This device has been designed for indoor use only. Do not expose the device to any liquid or moisture. Do not install the unit near any direct heat source. Keep the unit away from naked flames. Do not block areas of ventilation. Failure to do so could result in fire.

To avoid breakage, do not apply excessive force to the switches or controls.

CAUTION: Pinching hazard

Be careful, the sliding key cover may pinch your fingers. Do not insert a finger or hand into any gaps on the sliding key cover or instrument.

WARNING: Hearing damage

Using the instrument or headphones for a long period of time at a high or uncomfortable volume level can cause permanent hearing loss. Use the piano and headphones at a moderate volume level.

Damage to equipment!

When the top cover is closed, you can put any objects on it. To avoid falling objects, be careful where you place monitors, a laptop, speakers or other devices on the piano.

Rich acoustic sounds

Eight popular, high-quality sounds are built into the Thomann DP-S 307 UP. Some of the sounds include a stereo grand piano and a jazz trio. You can utilize the layer function to simultaneously play two sounds.

Luxurious design

High-gloss ebony paint provides an exquisite feel to match your specific taste. It will always stand out, no matter where you have it, because of its distinguished design.

No need for tuning

Tuning is a difficult and expensive process. Tuning is not required when you have this piano in your hands. We can guarantee that the sound will remain unchanged, no matter how long you have this piano in your possession. Through advanced technological advances, we have made this possible for your convenience.

Keyboard and effects

You can play the piano with graded hammered action keys and adapt various effects to the selected source.

Multi-purpose

The Thomann DP-S 307 UP features wireless device connection as well as a USB audio interface for sound recording and VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plug-ins. This product also features clean true-sound speakers which are untainted by any filters, providing only the purest of sounds. What you play is what you hear; what you hear is what you get.

Perfect link with the computer

You can connect the Thomann DP-S 307 UP with a computer via a USB cable. In addition, you can operate lots of software with Thomann DP-S 307 UP, such as multimedia players, recording software, lesson programs and so on.

Unlimited sound samples

The Thomann DP-S 307 UP can be connected to a computer with a USB cable. That means, you can use any VSTs installed in your computer as the sound samples of the Thomann DP-S 307 UP.

Digital audio workstation

The Thomann DP-S 307 UP is equipped with a USB audio interface and is compatible with ASIO 2.0 and CoreAudio drivers. It can be used as a professional digital audio workstation.

Control Panel

Please open the top cover of the Thomann DP-S 307 UP to access the control panel. It is located inside the cabinet. For reasons of better visibility, the left-hand and the right-hand side of the control panel are shown separately in the following two figures.

Left-hand side of the control panel

The left-hand side features several buttons for selecting sounds and effects, along with a master volume slider.

  • 1. MASTER VOLUME slider: Adjusts the volume for the output, headphones, and connectors.
  • 2. FX SOURCE: Selects the source for effects (MIC, LINE, SOUND). SOUND is preselected.
  • 3. FX TYPE: Selects internal effects (REVERB, CHORUS, ECHO). REVERB is preselected.
  • 4. FX DEPTH: Controls the amount of effect mixed in (LOW, MID, HIGH). LOW is preselected.
  • 5. SOUNDS: Buttons to select a sound (Single Mode). Holding down one button while pressing another mixes two sounds (Layer Mode).
  • 6. DEMO FUNCTION: Pressing FUNCTION + INT. SOUND OFF simultaneously starts sound demos. Pressing a flashing sound button replays its demo.
  • 7. DEMO INT. SOUND OFF: Switches off the internal sound completely.

Right-hand side of the control panel

The right-hand side includes speaker level controls, a power switch, and a wireless indicator.

  • 8. POWER switch: Turns the unit on/off once the power cord is connected.
  • 9. Wireless audio module indicator: Shows the status of the wireless module.
  • Sensitivity knobs: Control the left and right speaker output levels individually.

Functions

Touch sensitivity

This function allows setting the touch sensitivity. While holding down the FUNCTION button, select one of the touch sensitivity keys (SOFT, MID, HEAVY, or FIX) on the keyboard. The default setting is MID.

Transpose

This function shifts the pitch of the entire keyboard up or down in semitone intervals (up to 12 semitones). While holding FUNCTION, select a transposition key between C3 and C5. Press FUNCTION + C4 to return to the original pitch.

Layer mode

When playing two instruments in layer mode, adjust the volume of the second instrument. While holding FUNCTION, press DOWN [-] or UP [+] keys to set the volume. Press FUNCTION + E5 to decrease the level.

Microphone level

Control the microphone input level. While holding FUNCTION, press the corresponding key to adjust volume. C6 decreases the level, E6 increases it. A high-impedance microphone is required.

Rear Panel

The rear panel of the Thomann DP-S 307 UP provides the connectors shown in the following figure.

The Pedals

The 3 pedals are the Soft, Sostenuto, and Sustain pedals. They function similarly to those on an acoustic piano.

Soft pedal

Notes played while this pedal is down will sound softer.

Sostenuto pedal

Pressing this pedal sustains only those notes depressed at the same time the pedal is pressed; future notes played will be unaffected.

Sustain pedal

Pressing this pedal causes notes to sustain even when you lift your fingers from the keys.

Wireless Audio Setup

Charging the wireless audio module

This module has a rechargeable internal battery. Fully charge the battery before first use. Insert the adapter into the jack and a power outlet; the indicator light turns red.

Pairing with your wireless device

  • Enter pairing mode: Slide the power switch while pressing and holding specific buttons. The indicator light turns blue. If it's the first use, it enters pairing mode automatically.
  • Search and connect with your Bluetooth device according to its user's guide. (Bluetooth PIN: 0000, 4 zeros)

Note:

When paired, press [▶️||] to reconnect via Headset Profile or Hands-Free Profile, or press [▶️||] to reconnect via Advanced Audio Distribution Profile.

Using music control functions

  • Press [▶️||] to play/pause music.
  • Press and hold [▶️||] to stop playback.
  • Press [⏪] or [⏩] to skip tracks.
  • Press and hold [⏪] or [⏩] to scan backward or forward in a file.
  • Press [▲] or [▼] to adjust the volume.

The connection to external MIDI devices

What is MIDI?

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is an international standard for connecting and transferring data between electronic musical instruments, computers, and other devices.

What can you do with MIDI?

Use the Thomann DP-S 307 UP to control other instruments, or be controlled by them. Use a sequencer to create complex musical pieces. MIDI signals can be transmitted to other instruments or recorded by a sequencer.

Connections

Connect the MIDI OUT connector of the transmitting (master) device to the MIDI IN connector of the receiving (slave) device. To connect the Thomann DP-S 307 UP to a computer, you need a MIDI interface, sequencing or musical notation software, and two standard MIDI cables.

Connection to a Computer

The Thomann DP-S 307 UP includes both an onboard MIDI interface and an audio interface. Connect it directly to your computer without a special interface to use these functions.

Connections

Connecting to your computer is straightforward. Find the USB port on the rear of the Thomann DP-S 307 UP. Connect the provided USB cable (Type B) to the DP-S 307 UP and the other end (Type A) to a USB port on your computer.

Driver software installation

Visit www.asio4all.com and download the latest ASIO universal driver. Double-click the downloaded file, click "Next", and follow the on-screen instructions. This installation makes the DP-S 307 UP ASIO- and MIDI-compliant.

How to Adjust Audio Settings

Windows

Configure sound and audio default devices via the system control panel. Settings may vary based on your specific audio configuration and installed software. Refer to Windows operating instructions for details. After setup, you can play the Thomann DP-S 307 UP while listening to audio files via Windows Media Player for practice.

Mac OS

After connecting the Thomann DP-S 307 UP, your Macintosh computer will detect it automatically. Configure it in "Audio MIDI setup" (found in Applications\Utilities). The DP-S 307 UP is fully compatible with Mac OSX's Core Audio drivers.

Connection to external audio equipment

Connect the Thomann DP-S 307 UP's LINE outputs to external audio equipment like power amplifiers, powered studio monitors, recorders, or Hi-Fi audio systems to listen to its sound. You can also record the DP-S 307 UP's sound using an external audio recorder. Connect an audio player to the DP-S 307 UP to listen to music through its speakers, or record the DP-S 307 UP's sounds from a computer's audio player.

Protecting the Environment
