This document provides technical specifications and an overview of the Banner Sure Cross® DXM700-B1 and DXM700-B2 Wireless Controllers.
Overview
The DXM700-Bx Wireless Controllers are designed for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications. They function as communication gateways, connecting local serial ports, local I/O, and local ISM radio devices to the internet via cellular or wired Ethernet connections. These controllers offer high-performance wireless communication, flexible customization, and robust connectivity options.

- DXM700-B1: Modbus controller for data aggregation, sensors, and wireless networks. Power: 12-30 V DC. Communication: RS-485, secondary RS-485. Outputs: Four PNP.

- Blank: No radio module.
- PTL: Pre-programmed DXM700 for indicator light integration (no radio).
- R1: 900 MHz, 1W PE5 performance radio (North America).
- R2: 900 MHz, 1W HE5 multi-hop data radio (North America).
- R3: 2.4 GHz, 65mW PE5 performance radio (Global).
- R4: 2.4 GHz, 65mW HE5 multi-hop data radio (Global).
- R5: 900 MHz, 65mW HE5L multi-hop radio (for M-GAGE networks).

DXM700-Bx System Overview
The Banner DXM logic controller integrates Banner wireless radios, cellular connectivity, and local I/O to provide a platform for IIoT. The system comprises I/O, Connectivity, Logic Controller, and User Interface components.

Outputs: Four discrete PNP outputs (power voltage <2V, max current 100mA at 30V DC).
Connectivity: Offers wired and wireless options. Cellular modem options enable remote device connection to IIoT cloud services without IT infrastructure. Integrated Sure Cross® radios provide Modbus communication with remote sensors and devices.
- Wired Connections: Ethernet (Modbus/TCP Master/Slave or Ethernet/IP), Fieldbus (Modbus RS-485 Master/Slave).
- Wireless Connections: Sure Cross® radios (DX80 900 MHz, DX80 2.4 GHz, multi-hop 900 MHz, multi-hop 2.4 GHz), Cellular modem (LTE US only or GSM non-US).
Logic Controller Features
Programmed using operating rules and/or ScriptBasic for concurrent execution. Offers flexible custom monitoring and control sequences. Supports Modbus protocol for seamless integration with automation systems. Includes file and LCD password protection.
Register Mapping
- Periodic read rules, error conditions, and activation of read rules for wireless or local wired Modbus devices.
- Periodic or status change write rules for wireless or local wired Modbus devices.
- Modbus/TCP Master read/write rules for external network devices.
Action Rules
- Thresholds with timers (IF/THEN/ELSE), min/max on/off times, logging options.
- Math/Logic rules (arithmetic and bitwise operators).
- Control logic (bitwise operators and SR/T/D/JK flip-flops).

Note 1: Radio range is with the included 2dBi antenna. Higher gain antennas can be used, but range depends on environment and line-of-sight. Site surveys are recommended.

- Baud Rate: 9.6k, 19.2k (default), or 38.4k (via DIP switch); 1200 and 2400 (via multi-hop configuration software).
- Data Format: 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.

Warnings and Important Notes
Warnings
- Remote Antenna Systems: Install qualified surge suppressors and ground properly. Failure to do so voids warranty. Minimize ground wire length and connect to a single-point ground system. During thunderstorms, do not touch devices.
- Exporting Sure Cross® Radios: Must comply with all national/regional RF regulations. Ensure device approval in the destination country. Use only approved antennas listed on Banner's website (max gain 9 dBm). Antenna impedance: 50 Ohm. Ensure EIRP does not exceed allowed limits.
- Do not operate 1W radios without an antenna, as this can damage the radio.
