01 Important Information (Page 1)

This section is for recording important information about your kayak, useful for customer service contact.

02 Warranty Registration Card (Page 8)

Register your warranty electronically at www.pelicansport.com or by mail using the card on page 6.

03 Manufacturer's Declaration of Origin (Page 7)

Complete the form on page 7 if required by foreign governments.

04 Materials/Manufacturing

Pelican kayaks use twin-sheet thermoforming (TST) technology for shaping and fusing the deck and hull. They also utilize exclusive multi-layered RAM-X™ or RAM-X™ Premium materials, which are lighter and denser, resulting in a more rigid, durable, and impact-resistant product compared to those made with other technologies or lower-density polyethylene.

05 Transportation

Use the carrying handles (front, rear, center) for transport. Do not use handles to fasten the kayak to a vehicle.

  • By Hand: Carry using handles. Use a transport cart if needed.
  • By Vehicle: Use a car top carrier. Remove accessories before transport. Secure kayak firmly to the vehicle or trailer. Use padded straps. Check straps regularly, especially after getting wet. Avoid overtightening straps to prevent dings.

06 Prelaunch Checklist

  • Always wear a proper Personal Flotation Device (PFD).
  • Have an emergency safety kit ready (whistle, etc.).
  • Remove transport hardware and ensure the drain plug is secure.
  • Adjust paddle length for your height.

07 Launching Your Kayak

Place your foot in the center of the kayak when boarding for stability.

08 Mooring/Docking

  • Always moor away from rocks and sharp objects.
  • Always moor in sufficiently deep water to avoid hull damage.
  • Never moor against a dock without hull-protecting bumpers.

09 Important Information

Storage hatches are not waterproof. Protect water-sensitive items.

Safety Precautions

Paddle sports can be dangerous. Read all warnings and precautions carefully. Failure to comply may result in serious injury or death. Users are responsible for assessing their skill level and using good judgment regarding conditions and location. All users assume all risks.

  • 01 Weather Conditions and Water Levels: Check conditions before heading out. Avoid high winds, heavy rain, thunderstorms, flooding, choppy water, or strong currents. Head to shore if conditions worsen.
  • 02 Personal Flotation Device (PFD): Always wear a Coast Guard-approved PFD. Read manufacturer's instructions for proper wear.
  • 03 Alcohol and Drugs: Never use alcohol, drugs, or other substances that impair coordination, judgment, or ability to operate safely.
  • 04 Sound-Signalling Device: Carry a sound-signalling device as required by law to alert other vessels. Attach to PFD if possible.
  • 05 Standing Up in the Kayak: Never stand unless specified. Standing may cause capsizing. If capsized, stay with the kayak; swimming to shore is more dangerous.
  • 06 Ability: Know your limits. Consult a physician before training. Assess your physical condition realistically.
  • 07 Hypothermia: Dress appropriately for weather. Wear a wetsuit if necessary. Cold water accidents are dangerous; hypothermia can be fatal. Survival time in cold water is limited (15-20 minutes).
  • 08 Be Accompanied: Always paddle with someone. Inform someone of your plans (destination, duration, number of people).
  • 09 Familiarize Yourself with Water Body: Scout unfamiliar waters. Check boating regulations, hazards, and assistance points. Check tides and currents. Scout rapids and portage if necessary.
  • 10 Regulations and Laws: Follow all Coast Guard and government regulations and safety laws. Consult authorities for proper handling and required safety equipment.
  • 11 Drain Plug: Ensure the drain plug is secure before launching. Empty accumulated water periodically.
  • 12 Slippery When Wet: The kayak material is slippery when wet. Wear slip-resistant shoes and stay centered.
  • 13 Self Protection: Wear appropriate safety gear. Be aware of risks in rapids. Inspect equipment thoroughly. Wear a PFD and helmet. Protect extremities. It is your responsibility to be properly equipped and familiar with the water.

WARNING: Never let minors use without adult supervision. Never tow behind a boat. Never use as a flotation device. Never exceed maximum weight capacity.

How to Care for Your Kayak

  • Limit exposure to direct sunlight. Water flow helps regulate surface temperature while in use.
  • Inspect for dings and cracks before and after each use. Minor abrasions are normal.
  • Store in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Direct sunlight can cause damage over time.

How to Maintain Your Kayak

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: DO NOT USE CHEMICAL PRODUCTS OR ABRASIVES.

  • Clean with mild soap and warm water. Rinse with fresh water after each use to remove sand and saltwater.
  • Do not remove foam blocks; they provide extra flotation.
  • Do not paint the kayak; paint will not adhere.

How to Store Your Kayak for Extended Periods

  • Clean the kayak.
  • Remove tight straps or ropes to prevent hull deformation.
  • Remove the drain plug and leave it out to regulate air pressure. Store upright (on stern) to empty accumulated water.
  • Store in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight, bags, or tarps for extended periods, as they can trap heat and cause mold or blisters.
  • Place on a flat surface. Avoid sawhorses, heat sources, or hanging by handles. Cover with a cockpit cover if storing outdoors.
