I. General Description

The Av:link URC-22B is a new multi-functional universal remote control designed for the European market. It features:

• 7 Device Banks: TV1, TV2, VCR1, VCR2, SAT/CABLE, CABLE/SAT, and AUX.
• 3 Operating Modes: Set-up Mode, Quick Search Mode, and Display Mode.
• Transmission and Set-up Indicating LED.

II. Operating Process

1. Set Up Devices

To set up devices using brand codes from the Device Code List:

1. Press and hold the [SET] key, then press the desired device key (e.g., [TV1], [TV2], [VCR1], or [AUX]).
2. The LED will illuminate. Release the keys.
3. Enter the 3-digit Device Code.
4. If correct, the LED turns off automatically. If incorrect, the LED blinks twice and remains in setup mode; re-enter the code.
5. Test remote keys. If most keys don't work, find another code for the same brand and repeat steps 1-5 until satisfactory.

Note: To stop setup, press any device key. If no key is pressed for 10 seconds, the remote exits setup mode automatically.

2. Quick Search

Use Quick Search if setup fails or the correct code isn't found in the Device Code List. The URC-22B defaults to Forward Search, but [SET] can switch to Backward Search.

1. Power on the device. If it's a VCR, insert a tape.
2. Press and hold the [SET] key, then press the desired Device Key (e.g., [TV1], [VCR2]).
3. The LED will illuminate. Release the keys.
4. Press and release the [SET] key again. The URC-22B enters Quick Search Mode, and the LED flashes.
5. Point the URC-22B at the device and press the [POWER] key (or [PLAY] for VCR/AUX). Check if the device powers off or plays. If it works, proceed to step 6. If not, repeat step 5.
6. Check if other keys (e.g., [CH+/-], [VOL+/-]) function properly. If not, return to step 5.
7. Some devices react slowly to the [POWER] signal. During search, press [SET] to change search direction for faster code finding.
8. To exit Search Mode, press any Device Key; the LED will turn off.

Note: In Search Mode, all keys except [POWER] (and [PLAY] for VCR/AUX) can be tested without exiting. The URC-22B exits Search Mode if no key is pressed for 30 seconds.

3. Auto Search

1. Power on the device. If it's a VCR, insert a tape.
2. Press and hold the [SET] key, then press and hold the [POWER] key for over 3 seconds. Auto search begins.
3. Press any key to exit.

4. Brand Code Display

The URC-22B can display the 3-digit control code.

1. Press and hold the [SET] key, then press the digit you want to display (1, 2, or 3).
2. Release the [SET] key.
3. Count the LED blinks; the number of blinks indicates the digit. No blink means zero.

5. Remarks

Do not press any keys when replacing batteries to avoid losing set-up data.
