1. Download App & Create Account

1.1 Download & Install Smart Life App

Use your phone to scan the QR code provided or search "Smart Life" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) to download and install the application.

1.2 Register a New Account

Follow these steps to register:

  1. Tap "Register" on the bottom of the app screen. (Refer to Pic. 1)
  2. Select your country code and enter your mobile phone number or email address, then tap "Next". (Refer to Pic. 2)
  3. For mobile phone number accounts, enter the verification code received via text message and then enter your desired password. Tap "Confirm" to finish registration. (Refer to Pic. 3)
  4. For email accounts, enter your desired password and tap "Confirm" to finish registration. (Refer to Pic. 4)

1.3 Login to Smart Life App

Login methods available:

  • Login with mobile number + SMS verification code (text message). (Refer to Pic. 1 & 2)
  • Login with account number (mobile number/email) + password. (Refer to Pic. 1)
  • Login with social media account: If Facebook or Twitter are installed on your phone, tap the corresponding icon and sign in via social network authentication. (Refer to Pic. 1)

1.4 Forgot Password / Reset

If you forget your password, follow these steps:

  1. Tap "Forgot password" on the login screen. (Refer to Pic. 1)
  2. Select your country, enter your account's cellphone number or email, and tap "Next". (Refer to Pic. 2)
  3. Enter the verification code received via message/email, then enter a new password. Tap "Confirm" to finish. (Refer to Pic. 3)
  4. Login with your new password.

2. Add Device & Wi-Fi Setting

2.1 Adding Your Device

Steps to add a device:

  1. Power ON your device.
  2. Login to your Smart Life App. Tap the "+" or "Add Device" icon (Pic. 1). Select the appropriate device type (Pic. 2). For this gas valve control, "Wall switch" is preferred.
  3. Ensure your phone is connected to the strongest available Wi-Fi signal nearby.

2.2 Connection Methods

There are two connection methods for the App:

  • Quick Connect Mode (Default): Ensure the device's indicator light flashes rapidly. Tap "Confirm indicator rapidly blink" in the app and proceed to the next step (Pic. 1). The connection process will complete automatically in 30-60 seconds (Pic. 2).
  • Hotspot Mode (AP Mode): Ensure the device's indicator light flashes slowly (Pic. 1). Tap "AP Mode" in the app to switch to hotspot mode. Select the Wi-Fi network ready for connection and enter the Wi-Fi password. Confirm to proceed (Pic. 2). Tap "Connect Now" to go to your phone's WLAN settings and connect to the device's hotspot (e.g., "Smart-XXXX") (Pic. 3). The connection process will complete automatically in 30-60 seconds.

2.3 How to Make Indicator Blink

For Quick Connect Mode (Rapid Blink):

  1. Unplug the device from the outlet, wait for 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the device for 5 seconds or longer.
  3. Release the button once the indicator starts blinking at a rate of 2 blinks per second.

For Hotspot Mode (AP Mode - Slow Blink):

  1. Unplug the device from the outlet, wait for 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the device for 5 seconds or longer.
  3. Press the reset button again for 5 seconds or longer until the indicator starts blinking slowly (1 blink every 3 seconds).

2.4 Troubleshooting and Check List

Device connection failure in different circumstances:

  1. Confirm the device is powered on.
  2. Confirm the device is in configuration mode.
  3. Confirm the device, smartphone, and router are placed close to each other.
  4. Ensure the network functions of the router and smartphone are unblocked.
  5. Confirm the entered router password is correct.
  6. Confirm the device is being added using a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel. Enable Wi-Fi broadcast and do not hide the Wi-Fi network.
  7. Confirm that the router's encryption method is WPA2-PSK and the authentication type is AES, or both are set to automatic.
  8. If the router's connected devices reach the limit, turn off some devices' Wi-Fi function (offline) and try configuring again.
  9. If the router has MAC address filtering enabled, try removing the device from the MAC filter list and ensure the router allows the device to connect to the internet.

3. Wiring & Functions

  • Read all sections and the original manufacturer's manual for safety installation before proceeding. If you cannot read or understand these instructions, do not attempt to install or operate.
  • Only qualified electricians or gas technicians knowledgeable in gas appliances and gas valves are permitted to install this device.
  • Any modifications to the Durablow remote control system, parts, or components are PROHIBITED. Such modifications will void the warranty and may cause fire hazards, leading to human casualties and property damage.
  • Do NOT connect any gas valve or electronic module directly to 110-120VAC power.
  • Read the gas appliance manufacturer's instructions and wiring schematics completely for proper wire placement. All electronic modules must be wired according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • All wiring diagrams in these instructions are for illustration purposes ONLY. Follow instructions from manufacturers of the gas valve and electronic module for correct wiring and installation procedures.

  • Improper installation of electric components can damage the electronic module, gas valve, and the device itself.
  • Decide where to install the device before proceeding. This device is designed to be near a power outlet and installed outside the fireplace/stove/fire-pit for better signal transmission. (*IMPORTANT: Keep away from high heat exceeding 130℉. Additional protection is required if there is no exposure to the hearth).
  • Unplugging the control device from the power source is strongly recommended if the house/location will be unattended for a long time.
  • Legal Disclaimer: Due to varying circumstances, users should seek specific advice from qualified technicians or professionals before undertaking any action based on the information provided. Users who ignore this disclaimer, misuse, abuse, or improperly install the system do so at their own risk.
  • The App's user interface, guidelines, and functions may differ from this manual due to application updates, smartphones, countries, languages, operating systems, etc.

3.2 Packing List

3.3 Power (AC → DC) & Antenna Installation

  1. Connect the power supply USB plug (AC/DC adapter) with the power cord and the controller box (DC 5V).
    • INPUT: AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 0.4A
    • OUTPUT: DC 5V, 1.0A
    • FCC/EMC approved; cUL standard listed.
  2. Install or screw the antenna onto the Wi-Fi controller box.

3.4 Wiring Method (1) for Millivolt Valve

Connect the two wires from the Wi-Fi controller box to the Millivolt gas valve at the TH, TH/TP terminals on the terminal block. Both wires can be connected to TH or TH/TP terminals.

The Wi-Fi controller box operates by turning the gas valve ON and OFF. The Smart Life App or other devices (like Amazon Alexa Echo Dot) send signals to the Wi-Fi controller box, which then passes these signals to the Millivolt valve to control the gas supply/fire/heater.

* The Millivolt valve shown is for reference only; your actual valve may differ in shape. Please locate the TH, TH/TP terminals using the valve's manual or consult the original maker.

3.5 Wiring Method (2) for Electronic Spark Ignition Module

  1. Connect a 24VAC transformer in series to the TR (transformer) terminal on the ELECTRONIC SPARK IGNITION MODULE.
  2. Connect the hot wire from the 24VAC transformer to one of the wire terminals on the Wi-Fi controller box.
  3. Connect another wire between the controller box terminal and the TH (thermostat) terminal on the ELECTRONIC MODULE.

3.6 Remote Control with Smart Life App

Control your device using the Smart Life App:

  1. Login to the Smart Life App.
  2. Find your paired device from the "DEVICES" list.
  3. Tap the device to enter its control panel.
  4. Functions:
    • Manually switch the device ON/OFF.
    • Set a countdown timer to automatically turn the device ON/OFF.
    • Customize timer settings for scheduled ON/OFF operations.

3.7 Supported Third-Party Control / App

This device works with the following third-party controls:

  • Amazon Alexa: Compatible with Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, Echo Spot, etc.
  • Google Assistant: Compatible with Google Home and Mini.
  • IFTTT (App): Design your own applets to automate actions.

To view Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant setup instructions, go to the device's settings ("...") and find the relevant icon (Pic. 1).

3.8 Indicator Lights

ON/OFF Indicator:

  • Light ON: Switch is ON.
  • Light OFF: Switch is OFF.

(You can operate ON/OFF manually by pressing the RESET button on the side of the controller box.)

Setting Indicator:

  • Light ON: Wi-Fi connected.
  • Light OFF: Offline or no power.
  • Light rapidly blink: Quick connect mode (default mode).
  • Light slowly blink: Hotspot mode (AP mode).

4.1 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. How to contact customer support?
    A: Go to your device control panel, tap the "..." at the upper right corner, and find "Send Feedback" to message Durablow customer support. Replies are usually within 24 hours. For order questions or suggestions, email info@payandpack.com.
  2. What are the dimensions? Where to place it?
    A: The controller measures 6"x2.2"x1.6". Do NOT place it under or inside the fireplace. Position it at least 2 feet away from heat sources.
  3. Can it be wall-mounted? Where?
    A: Yes, it can be wall-mounted using its screw-holes at both ends. Place it as close to your Wi-Fi router as possible for optimal signal.
  4. Are there smart home thermostat models available?
    A: Yes, thermostat models were planned for availability in Q4 2018. For more details, contact Durablow via the App or email info@payandpack.com.
  5. Can this controller be paired with a Z-wave hub?
    A: No, this controller is for Wi-Fi use only. Support for other smart home systems like Bluetooth, Z-wave, ZigBee, etc., is not available yet but may be offered in future models.
  6. Can this controller be used to replace a traditional wall switch / remote control kit?
    A: Yes! It offers additional benefits like Timer and Schedule functions, and works with Amazon Echo/Google Home speakers. It eliminates battery replacement issues, malfunctions, and downtime due to low batteries.
  7. Can I share this device with others?
    A: Yes, go to the device control panel, tap "..." and find "Device Sharing".
  8. Can I turn ON/OFF if there is no App, phone, or network?
    A: Yes. You can operate the device ON/OFF manually by pressing the RESET button on the side of the controller box.
  9. Can this device be used with a variable flame gas valve?
    A: No, this is for the SH3001 model. New models with a VARIABLE FLAME feature are expected soon.
  10. Can this device be used with a Solenoid gas valve?
    A: Yes. Connect it in series: Power (L) → Wi-Fi Controller Box → Solenoid valve → Power (N).
  11. Device status cannot be synchronized with the status displayed on the App.
    A: If the device is controlled by a manual switch, its status might not synchronize immediately. It is recommended to open the App; the device status will update after operation.
  12. How to cancel the countdown?
    A: Please set the countdown timer to 0 hours and 0 minutes to cancel the countdown.

4.2 Warranty

  • Durablow warrants this product for a 2-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY to the original purchaser/owner. This warranty is non-transferable.
  • Durablow warrants any parts that fail due to defective workmanship in production or materials from the original date of purchase. Durablow will repair or replace defective parts at its discretion.
  • Replacement parts will be provided at NO charge with free shipping to users for the FIRST 2 years of this warranty. If Durablow lacks parts for a specific model, a replacement product will be provided.
  • The owner must provide a bill of sale, order ID, or payment record to verify the purchase date and establish the warranty period.
  • This warranty does not cover damages caused by accident, misuse, abuse, or installation errors, regardless of whether implemented by a contractor, third-party service company, or the owner. Any modifications to this product will void the warranty.
  • Photos and simple questions may be required for product investigation and improvement. Durablow & PayandPack reserve the right to physically inspect the product for defects by authorized representatives.
