Micromax Q416 User Guide
Welcome to the world of Micromax. You have just become the proud owner of the Micromax Q416 LTE enabled Android device. Your device comes with Android Lollipop which provides you a host of advanced and desirable features to give you a whole new Android experience.
Read Me First
- Please read all safety precautions and this manual carefully before using your device to ensure safe and proper use.
- The descriptions in this manual are based on the default settings of your device.
- Available features and additional services may vary by device, software, or service provider.
- Applications and their functions may vary based on the country, region, software or hardware specifications. Micromax is not liable for performance issues caused by third-party applications.
Understand Your Phone
This section describes the physical components of your Micromax Q416 smartphone.
- Front View: Features the Front Camera, Earpiece, LCD Screen, Light Sensor, Recent Apps button, Home button, Back button, and USB Jack.
- Side View: Includes Volume Up/Down buttons and the Power On/Off button.
- Back View: Houses the Camera, Flash, Speaker, and MIC.
Insert SIM and Memory Card
Follow these steps to insert your SIM and memory cards:
- Switch off your phone and remove the rear cover.
- Insert Micro SIM card(s) into the designated card slot(s). Your device supports two micro SIM cards and one SD card.
- Insert the memory card correctly into its slot.
- Place the rear cover back onto the device.
Important Note: Please keep the Micro SIM(s) out of the reach of children.
Charge the Battery
Before using the device for the first time, it is recommended to fully charge the battery. Connect the provided Micromax charger and cable to the phone and a power socket. Important Note: Use only Micromax chargers and cables. Other chargers or cables may damage the battery or your device, and will invalidate your phone warranty.
Google Account
Your Google Account allows you to access applications and services from the Google Play Store, including Gmail and Google Maps. Account setup typically occurs upon the first power-on. An internet connection is required for setup. You can also configure your Google account later via Settings ➔ Accounts ➔ Add account ➔ Google. If you do not have a Google account, you can create one during this process.
Use Google Search
Google Search enables you to find information on your phone or the internet by typing keywords. It supports voice recognition for voice searches and commands. Google Search is accessible from the home screen and the application menu.
Notifications
Notifications alert you to new messages and events. You can open notifications by swiping down from the top of the screen, close them by swiping up, and clear all notifications by tapping the clear option.
Phone Security
Your phone can be unlocked using various methods. The default method is a swipe gesture. To unlock, simply swipe up on the lock screen. For alternative unlocking techniques, navigate to Settings ➔ Security.
Screen Lock Options
- Pattern: Draw a custom pattern by connecting dots to secure your phone from unauthorized access.
- PIN: Set a Personal Identification Number (PIN) as your screen password.
- Password: Create a password for unlocking your phone.
Smart Lock
Smart Lock allows you to bypass PIN or Password under specific trusted conditions, such as being in a trusted location or connected to a trusted device. To enable Smart Lock, go to Settings ➔ Security ➔ Smart Lock. Note that you must enable a security method other than Swipe to access the Smart Lock option.
Settings and Networks
Your phone connects to various networks and devices, and allows file transfer to/from a PC via a data cable.
Connect to the Internet
To connect to the internet, go to Settings ➔ Data usage and enable Cellular Data. You may need to configure the access point name (APN) for your data connection. APNs are often configured automatically upon SIM insertion or sent via SMS by your network provider. If the APN is not listed by default, contact your network provider. You can manually configure APNs under Settings ➔ More ➔ Cellular networks ➔ Access Point Names.
Tethering & Portability
You can use your device as a modem to connect your PC or laptop to the internet. Access this feature via Settings ➔ More ➔ Tethering & portable hotspot.
- USB Tethering: Connect your phone to a PC/Laptop via USB cable and enable USB tethering. Select your phone's network connection on the PC/laptop to access the internet.
- Bluetooth Tethering: Pair your phone with a Bluetooth-enabled PC/laptop. Enable Bluetooth tethering on your phone, then select your phone from the paired device list on the PC/laptop to connect to the internet.
- Wi-Fi Hotspot: Turn on the Wi-Fi hotspot option on your phone. Other Wi-Fi enabled devices can then connect to your phone's network. Configure hotspot settings by tapping the 'Set up Wi-Fi hotspot' option. Your mobile operator may charge for data usage.
Pair With Bluetooth Devices
To pair with Bluetooth devices, go to Settings ➔ Bluetooth. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices. Your phone will scan for available devices. Tap the desired device from the list to pair. You may be prompted to confirm a passkey on both devices. If a device is not listed, ensure its Bluetooth is active and tap 'Refresh' to search again.
Google Maps
Google Maps is a web-based service offering access to map data, street views, landmarks, and route planning. To use Google Maps, enable location access via Settings ➔ Location. Then, tap the [Google Maps icon] from the applications menu. An internet connection is required. Note that Google Maps availability may vary by region, and Micromax does not guarantee the accuracy of directional services.
Play Store
The Play Store provides access to a wide range of applications, games, movies, and books. Tap the [Play Store icon] to access it. An internet connection and a configured Google account are necessary to use the Play Store.
Safety Precautions
Adhere to the following safety guidelines:
- [Explosive atmosphere warning] Switch off your device in areas with potential explosive atmospheres, such as refueling stations or chemical plants, as radio frequency sparks can cause fire or explosion. Comply with all legal requirements and local restrictions.
- [Medical device interference warning] Your phone's radio waves may interfere with medical devices like pacemakers. Maintain a distance of at least 15.3 cm (6 inches) between your device and implanted medical devices. Switch off your phone when regulations require it.
- [Choking hazard warning for small parts] Keep the phone and accessories away from small children, as small parts like SIM cards can be a choking hazard if swallowed.
- [Electromagnetic interference warning for data carriers] Avoid placing your phone near electromagnetic data carriers like credit/debit cards, as stored information could be lost.
- [Hearing damage warning from loud volume] Prolonged use of earphones at high volume can cause permanent hearing damage. Always set your volume to a safe level.
- [Power supply voltage warning] Ensure the mains voltage specified on the power supply unit is not exceeded to prevent damage to the charging device. Plug the power supply into an easily accessible AC power socket.
- [SIM card replacement only warning] You are permitted to open the phone only to replace the SIM card. Any other modifications are strictly prohibited and will void the warranty.
- [Electronic interference warning] The phone may cause interference with TV sets, radios, and PCs.
- [Driving safety warning] Do not use the phone while driving. Place it securely in a phone stand and avoid placing it where it could fall during sudden stops or collisions.
- [Airplane mode warning] Phone usage is not advised during flights due to potential interference.
- [Authorized repair warning] All repairs should be performed by Micromax authorized service centers only. Self-repair attempts will invalidate the warranty.
Taking Care of your device
Your device is a product of superior design and craftsmanship and requires careful handling:
- Keep the device dry. Avoid exposure to precipitation, humidity, and liquids, which can corrode electronic circuits. If the device gets wet, wipe it with a dry cloth and seek authorized service.
- Do not store the device in extreme temperatures (high or low), as this can shorten its lifespan and damage the battery.
- Avoid using or storing the device in dusty or dirty environments, as this can damage moving parts and electronic components.
- Do not attempt to open the device except as instructed in this guide.
- Do not drop, knock, shake, or bend the device, as rough handling can damage internal components.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents. Clean the device surface with a soft, clean, dry cloth only.
- Do not store or bring your device near strong magnetic fields for extended periods.
Temperature and Humidity
The device is designed for use within a temperature range of -20°C ± 5 to 45°C ± 5. For storage, the range is -30°C ± 5 to 65°C ± 5. Deviating from these conditions can damage the device and reduce battery life. The recommended humidity for maintaining the device is between 50% and 55%. Do not expose your device to extreme temperatures or humidity.

Recycle your Phone
The [WEEE recycling symbol] on the product (handset and charger) indicates it must not be disposed of with household waste. You are responsible for disposing of electronic waste at designated collection points for recycling. Proper collection and recovery of electronic waste helps preserve the environment and ensures safety for human health.
