IKEA IVAR Shelving Unit Assembly Instructions
This document provides assembly instructions for the IKEA IVAR shelving unit.
Important Information
Please read these instructions carefully before assembly. Ensure you have all parts and tools required. For safety, it is recommended to secure the unit to the wall to prevent tipping. Consult the instructions for wall-mounting hardware suitable for your wall type.
Safety Warnings:
- ⚠️ Risk of tipping! Furniture can tip over if not secured. This furniture must be fixed to the wall with the provided wall attachment device(s).
- Ensure all parts are correctly assembled.
- Do not overload the shelves.
Assembly Steps
The assembly process involves several steps, illustrated with diagrams. Below is a textual description of the assembly:
Step 1: Prepare the Base
Place the base frame on a flat surface. Insert the provided dowels (4x, part number 101324) into the designated holes on the base frame.
Step 2: Assemble the Side Frames
Attach the side frames to the base frame. Align the holes on the side frames with the dowels on the base frame and press firmly to connect them. Ensure the side frames are oriented correctly.
Step 3: Insert Shelves
Slide the shelves into the grooves on the side frames. Ensure each shelf is level and securely seated. The diagram shows placing a shelf onto the pre-installed supports within the unit.
Step 4: Secure Shelves
Use the provided fasteners (4x) to secure each shelf in place. The diagram shows using fasteners inserted into the side panels to hold the shelves.
Step 5: Wall Mounting (Recommended)
For stability and safety, it is highly recommended to secure the assembled unit to the wall using appropriate wall-mounting hardware (not included). Follow the separate instructions provided with the wall attachment devices.
Weight Limits
Please adhere to the maximum weight limits for each shelf:
- Upper shelves: Maximum 6 kg (13 lb)
- Lower shelves: Maximum 9 kg (19.5 lb)
