Operation Manual

General Information

The Pedrollo TOP MULTI-TECH / TOP MULTI-EVOTECH are submersible multi-stage automatic water pumps designed for use in clear water, free of suspended solids, with a maximum liquid temperature of 40°C.

The pump's start (ON) and stop (OFF) operations are managed automatically by an integrated electronic circuit and a valve located in the delivery body. The electronic system protects the pump from dry running and prevents seizure due to long periods of inactivity.

Operation

Upon connecting the pump to the electrical mains, it will automatically start for approximately 10 seconds to evaluate the system's status and any water demand. If the taps are open, the pump will continue to run. If the taps are closed or the flow rate is less than 3 litres/min, the pump will stop after about 10 seconds.

After the initial connection, subsequent starts will occur when one or more taps are opened, causing the system pressure to drop below 1.5 bar (2.5 bar for TOP MULTI-TECH/EVOTECH 4 2.5). The start and stop pressures are not adjustable.

The maximum permissible vertical distance between the pump and the highest outlet point is 10 meters (20 meters for TOP MULTI-TECH/EVOTECH 4 2.5).

For optimal performance, it is recommended to install an expansion vessel with a minimum capacity of 1 litre, pre-charged to 1.2 bar (2.2 bar for TOP MULTI-TECH/EVOTECH 4 2.5).

Protections

Upon each shutdown, the pump performs a check to determine if the stop was due to tap closure or dry running. In case of potential dry running, the pump will execute 3 ON/OFF cycles before stopping. The pump will attempt to restart after 3 minutes and will continue to do so at doubled time intervals up to 50 hours. Beyond this, it will stop permanently and require manual reset by disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply.

To prevent pump seizure during prolonged periods of inactivity, the system is programmed to perform a 10-second start every 48 hours.

Maintenance

The internal valve in the pump can be removed for cleaning or replacement by unscrewing the coupling from the outlet port. During disassembly, be careful not to lose the valve's return spring or the sealing ring in the coupling. If necessary, the pump can operate continuously without the valve after refitting the coupling with its seal.
