STEP 1: What's Required
- ? Internet
- ? Wi-Fi Router
- ? Phone (Smartphone or tablet running iOS 9.0 / Android™ 4.1 or higher with BroadLink APP)
- ? S3 Hub (Must be already configured in the BroadLink APP. The hub requires installation and continuous online connection for pairing and use.)
- Smart Button
A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network with an active Internet connection is necessary.
STEP 2: Scan QR Code
Open the BroadLink APP, tap the '+' button, and then select "Scan QR code".
Scan the QR code or manually input the Serial Number (SN) found on:
- a) The product's packaging label
- b) The back of the product
When inputting the SN manually, ensure all characters are entered, including "SN://", e.g., "SN://XXXXXXXXXXXX".
STEP 3: Add Button Virtually
After scanning, verify the product information displayed in the APP matches the device.
Select a hub for the device, then choose a room and optionally rename the device.
The device will be added to the selected hub as a sub-device. Confirm by tapping "I know it".
STEP 4: Pair Button Physically
Tap "Use device now" to proceed with physical pairing.
Insert the batteries and then long-press the reset button on the Smart Button to activate pairing mode (the LED indicator will flash rapidly). Refer to the "Indications" section for details.
Tap "The device is in pairing mode" within the APP to complete the pairing process.
⚠️ The pairing mode is active for only 1 minute.
STEP 5: Add Routine
Routines are configured within the BroadLink APP to automate device actions or trigger scenes based on specific events.
For scene control, a scene must first be created in the APP.
Navigate to the "Routines" tab on the APP's home screen and tap '+' to create a new routine.
You can assign a custom name and image to the routine.
STEP 6: Set Routine
Configure the routine's triggers, actions, and optional conditions.
- Under "When event triggers from", select "Device operated" > "Smart Button" > "Button", then choose the specific button (e.g., Button 4).
- Under "Do actions", select "Activate a scene" and choose the desired scene.
- Optionally, under "Under conditions", select "During specified period" to set an effective time frame for the routine (e.g., 07:00-18:00 on workdays).
STEP 7: Use Button & View History
Once set up, pressing the Smart Button can activate configured routines. For instance, pressing button 4 when leaving home on workdays can trigger a scene to turn off all devices.
To review past button press events, go to the Smart Button in the device list within the APP and tap "History Records".
Installation

The Smart Button can be placed on any flat surface for convenient access.
b) Sticked Wall-Mounting
Utilize the provided mounting board and double-sided sticker to securely attach the device to a wall.
Troubleshooting
-
How can I proceed if scanning the QR code fails (in STEP 2)?
QR code scanning may be unsuccessful in low-light conditions or with cameras of lower resolution. Alternatively, select "Input manually" to enter the SN. Ensure you include the full "SN://" prefix when typing.
-
Why can't I retrieve product information after scanning the QR code (in STEP 3)?
Retrieving product information requires an active internet connection. A temporary network issue might be the cause. If you are using your home Wi-Fi, try switching to your phone's 4G network during the virtual adding process. Remember to reconnect to your home Wi-Fi for the subsequent physical pairing step.
-
What could cause physical pairing to fail (in STEP 4)?
Please check the following potential causes:
- a) The Smart Button was not properly reset for pairing mode, or the pairing mode has expired (verify LED status).
- b) The S3 Hub is offline (check its online status in the APP).
-
What is the maximum number of sensors that can be added to a hub?
A single hub can support a maximum of 8 sensors. If you have more sensors, consider setting up an additional hub.
Important Notices
- DO NOT power off the S3 Hub while sensors are in use, as this can lead to increased battery consumption.
- DO NOT mix new and used batteries, as this may negatively impact sensor performance.
- Ensure the device is installed on a firm and stable surface.
- Keep the device away from areas with metal coverage.
