Communication Port Definition
The XD series PLC has three communication ports (XDC series standard configuration is two communication ports): one USB port (XD1/XD2 series is serial port COM0, XDC is COM2), one RS232 serial port (COM1), and one RS485 port (COM2). One to two of RS232 or RS485 communication ports (COM4/COM5) can be extended through BD board (XD-NS-BD or XD-NE-BD). COM3 is used to extend the left extended ED module.
USB communication port: Connects to PC programming software and PLC via a USB download cable. USB driver needs to be installed.
RS232 serial port (COM1): Connects to programming software, PC, HMI, and meters.
RS485 port (COM2): Connects to HMI, meters, and programming software. Supports MODBUS, X-NET fieldbus communication, and free format communication.
Extended communication ports (COM4 and COM5): Used to communicate with instruments via BD boards (XD-NE-BD, XD-NS-BD, XD-NO-BD).

Safety Notes
Control System Design Notes
- Design safe circuits, ensuring the control system works safely during power outages or PLC faults.
- Implement emergency brake circuits, protection circuits, and interlock circuits for safety.
- Design external protection circuits and safety mechanisms for output signals related to major accidents.
- Be aware that all outputs shut down during system errors, and output control may be lost during controller circuit errors.
- PLC is designed for indoor environments; ensure power supply systems have lightning protection.
Installation and Wiring Notes
- Do not use PLC in dusty, high temperature, humid, or corrosive environments.
- Prevent foreign objects from entering controller vents during wiring.
- Ensure wiring of installation boxes is solid and reliable.
- Use shielded cables for high-frequency signals in high-interference environments.
Run and Maintenance Notes
- Connect and disconnect cables only after power is shut down.
- Understand the manual and confirm safety before online modification or forced output.
- Process old products as industrial waste.
- Ensure power is cut off when installing/uninstalling extension cards.
- Replace batteries with power on only if data memory is not lost, and by a professional with insulating gloves.
