Carrier Japan to Launch R32 Super Multi-u VRF
Addressing Sustainability, Safety and Comfort Needs
TOKYO, Sept. 1, 2025 – Carrier Japan Corporation will launch a new model of the Super Multi-u™ VRF Series using R-32 refrigerant in December, addressing the F-gas legislation in Japan. In response to the global push toward sustainability, the demand for energy-efficient HVAC systems has grown significantly in recent years. These systems, which represent a substantial share of energy consumption in buildings, are now at the forefront of efforts to address climate change, achieve carbon neutrality, and advance sustainability goals.

The product's notable features include:
- Environmental Considerations: The new product adopts R-32 refrigerant (Global Warming Potential: GWP = 675), in compliance with Japan's F-gas legislation. Compared to the refrigerant used in previous models, this change reduces the environmental impact by approximately two-thirds. Additionally, the unit is equipped with a DC triple rotary compressor and the proprietary patented Vane Sealing Injection Mechanism, which significantly enhances heating efficiency and further improves energy-saving performance.
- Safety Design: All indoor units are equipped with built-in refrigerant leak sensors. Additionally, a shut-off valve unit has been incorporated to enhance safety for both users and installation personnel.
- Enhanced Comfort: The 4-way ceiling cassette indoor unit comes standard with a UVC drain water sterilization function. Furthermore, it supports air purification and indoor air quality.
