3. Parts and Names
Front Panel
The front panel features various controls and indicators:
- 1. IN1&IN2: Input jacks for microphones, instruments (e.g., guitar), or line-level devices. These support XLR, 6.35mm TRS (balanced), and 6.35mm TS (unbalanced) plugs. Microphones typically use XLR, instruments use 6.35mm TS, and line-level devices use 6.35mm TRS.
- 2. INST: Input switch for line/instrument signals. The button light is off for line input and on for instrument input.
- 3. 48V: Phantom power switch for microphone inputs. When the light is on, 48V phantom power is supplied to the XLR input. Caution: Phantom power is for condenser microphones and can damage equipment that does not require it. Turn it off when not needed. Lower all volume levels before turning phantom power on or off.
- 4. Input Gain Knobs: Adjust the gain for microphone, instrument, or line input signals. Rotate counterclockwise to decrease gain and clockwise to increase. Monitor the input meter; reduce gain if the CLIP indicator (red LED) lights up.
- 5. MON: Direct monitoring switch. When pressed and lit, it routes the input signal directly to the headphone output, providing zero-latency monitoring.
- 6. LED Meters: Indicate input (IN1&2) and output (OUT1&2) signal levels. The CLIP indicator at the top lights up when the signal is clipping; reduce the signal level.
Rear Panel
The rear panel includes connectivity and power options:
- 13. LINE OUT: 6.35mm TRS balanced jacks for connecting to active speakers or amplifiers.
- 14. USB-C: Connects the E2x2 to a computer, tablet, or mobile phone for data transfer and power.
- 15. POWER: Connect a DC5V power supply here if the USB port provides insufficient power, especially with mobile devices. The adjacent USB-C port then functions only for data transmission.
- 16. Power Switch: The main power switch for the device.
Input Connectors Diagram
Diagrams illustrating XLR IN, TRS, and TS IN connections are provided.
Factory Reset
To restore factory settings, press and hold the MON button on the front panel while powering on the device until all meter indicators light up.
4. Connection
Ensure all volume levels are set to minimum before connecting or disconnecting external devices to prevent hearing damage or equipment damage.
PC Mode/Mobile Mode
To switch between PC and Mobile modes: Press and hold the 48V button of IN1 while powering on the device. Press the same 48V button again to toggle modes. 8 lights indicate PC mode; 4 lights indicate Mobile mode. Power off and reboot to save the setting.

6. DAW Audio Set-up
The E2x2 is compatible with DAWs supporting Core Audio (Mac) or ASIO (Windows). Ensure the E2x2 is selected as the audio device in your DAW's preferences. Consult your DAW's user guide for specific instructions.
7. Trouble Shooting
No Power
- Check if the rear panel power switch is ON.
- If power is insufficient, connect a DC5V power supply to the power input.
- Check or replace the USB cable (use one no longer than 2 meters).
- Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Test with another computer if possible.
No Sound
- Check speaker connections and volume settings.
- Adjust E2x2 Line output and headphone volume.
- Check TOPPING Pro settings.
- Connect E2x2 directly to the computer, bypassing any USB hub.
- Disconnect unused USB devices.
- Close unnecessary applications.
Recorded Audio Too Loud, Too Quiet, or Silent
- Adjust the E2x2 input gain level.
- Turn on phantom power if using a condenser microphone.
- Check TOPPING Pro settings.
Sound Breaks Up
In your audio application or TOPPING Professional driver (Windows), increase the buffer size (latency) to a larger value.
Input Sound Distorted
Watch the input meter and reduce the input gain if the CLIP indicator is on.
Cannot Play or Record
- Confirm E2x2 is set as the input and output device in your software.
- Ensure E2x2 is correctly connected to the computer.
- Quit all software using E2x2, unplug and replug the USB cable.
8. Precautions
- Avoid hot, humid environments, strong impacts, or exposure to rain.
- Opening the case voids the warranty.
- For indoor use only.
- TOPPING is not liable for any direct or indirect loss or damage resulting from device failure.
- Specifications are subject to change without prior notice for product improvement.
