ACI TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series Installation and Operation Instructions

Please Read Instruction Carefully Before Installation!

Applications

There are a number of applications in which the TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series may be used to monitor and control the building temperature. A few of the most common applications are listed below:

Operating Specifications

The TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series outdoor mounted temperature sensors have an output signal of 3K Ohms at 77°F (25°C) or 10K Ohms (Type II) at 77°F (25°C). The outdoor mounted temperature sensors have an overall accuracy of ± 0.36°F (0.2°C) for the regular sensor or ± 0.18°F (0.1°C) for the HI sensor over the range of 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C). The outdoor mounted temperature sensors shall have two 22 AWG colored etched Teflon lead wires. The TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series outdoor mounted temperature sensors can be used in environments where the operating temperature is between -40 to 302°F (-40 to 150°C).

All TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series outdoor mounted temperature sensors are both non-polarity and non-position sensitive.

Part Number Sensor Type Wire Colors
TS-3200-DD-03-AA 3K Ohms Blue / Blue
TS-3200-DD-10-AA 10K Ohms Yellow / Yellow
TS-3200-DD-10-AA-HI 10K Ohms - HI Orange / Orange

Installation

The TS-3200-DD-xx-AA Series outdoor mounted temperature sensors are provided in a weatherproof enclosure. Be sure to mount the sensor so that the unit is under an Eave, Shield, or in an area that is out of elements or direct sunlight (example: North Side of a Building), with the sensor probe pointing downward (See Figure #1).

Figure #1: Correct and Incorrect mounting of the sensor. The correct mounting shows the sensor in a Bell Box Housing (Standard Enclosure) with the probe pointing downwards. The incorrect mounting shows the sensor exposed to elements.

Installation (Continued)

  1. Attach the mounting lugs to the back of the Bell box, or mount the Bell box onto a threaded conduit connector.
  2. Position the outdoor mounted temperature sensor where it is to be mounted and mark the (2) mounting holes in the mounting lugs. Use two #8 self-tapping Sheet Metal or TEK screws to mount the sensor.
  3. Now install a watertight fitting or conduit connectors.
  4. Install the cable from the Building Automation System into the outdoor temperature sensor. ACI recommends the use of a multi-conductor shielded cable for all sensor installations. The foil shield should be connected to Ground at the Building Automation System (DDC Controller).
  5. Next connect the sensor wires to the cable from the Building Automation System using the supplied wire nuts.
  6. Now place secure the cover and rubber gasket onto the Bell box using the two screws provided with the cover.
  7. Now verify that you are getting a temperature reading on your Building Automation System.

Troubleshooting

Sensor reads 0 ohms or very low

Sensor or wires are shorted together

Sensor reads infinity or very high

Sensor or wires are cut or open

Erratic readings

Bad wire connections - Condensation or Moisture problem

Inaccurate Sensor

If you suspect that the sensor is not reading within the specified tolerance, disconnect the sensor wires from the Building Management System (DDC Controller) and attach a NIST traceable ohmmeter across the two wires. Compare the reading to the table listed below. If you feel that the sensor is different from the table below please contact ACI for further assistance.

WEEE Directive

At the end of their useful life the packaging and product should be disposed of via a suitable recycle centre. Do not dispose of with household waste. Do not burn.
