Thank you for purchasing this Pioneer product. This Quick Start Guide provides instructions for basic connections and operations to allow simple use of the receiver. For detailed descriptions, refer to the "Operating Instructions" provided on the included CD-ROM.

Connection and initial setup
Perform connection and initial settings in any of the ways listed below:
- Use "Start-up Navi" app: Requires a smartphone/tablet and network connection. Download and start the app, then follow the guidance.
- Use built-in AVNavigator: Requires a Mac/PC and network connection. Read the "If you have a Mac/PC" booklet, then follow the AVNavigator guidance.
- Follow booklet instructions: Read the booklet in order (STEP 1, STEP 2, STEP 3) and follow each step.
Regarding WIRELESS indicator flashing: Flashes when using WAC Mode (receiver as Wi-Fi Access point). Does not flash after network configuration or wired LAN connection. No problem if it doesn't flash when not making a network connection.
If you have a Mac/PC
Connecting to the network through LAN interface
Diagram Description: A computer connects to a modem via a LAN cable. The modem connects to a router via a WAN port. The router has multiple LAN ports, with one connecting to the receiver's NETWORK port via a LAN cable (sold separately).
Plugging in the receiver: After connecting to a LAN, plug the receiver's AC power cord into a power outlet.
Turning the power on: Press the STANDBY/ON button to switch on the receiver and your computer. Wait a few minutes before proceeding.
Launching the built-in AVNavigator
Using Mac: Launch Safari, click "VSX-1130" in 'Bonjour' on the Bookmarks bar. If 'Bonjour' is not displayed, enable "Include Bonjour in the Favorites bar" in Safari's Preferences.
Using Windows PC: Start Internet Explorer. Press STATUS on the remote control and check the front panel display for the receiver's IP address (e.g., 192.168.0.124). If "0.0.0.0" or "169.254.112.202" appears, the network connection is not established. Check receiver and router connections.

About using Wiring Navi: Wiring Navi starts when "Wiring Navi" is pressed on the AVNavigator screen. When connection navigation is finished, proceed to the Interactive Operation Guide.
Operating environment: AVNavigator is supported on Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 and Mac OS X v10.8/10.9. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer 8-11 and Safari 6.0/7.0. Network or security settings may affect operation.
STEP 1 Connecting up
Placing the Speakers

- To play Dolby Atmos, connect speakers for Top middle, Surround back, or Front wide.
- Sound output depends on listening mode for Top middle and Surround back speakers.
- Dolby Enabled Speakers can substitute for Top middle speakers. Refer to operating instructions.
Connecting the speakers
- Ensure all connections are complete before connecting to AC power.
- Speakers with a nominal impedance between 6 Ω and 16 Ω can be used.
- Connect the speakers.
Bare wire connections
- Twist exposed wire strands together.
- Loosen terminal and insert exposed wire.
- Tighten terminal. (Ensure 10 mm or 3/8 in. of wire is inserted)

CAUTION: Speaker terminals carry HAZARDOUS LIVE voltage. Disconnect the power cord before touching uninsulated parts to prevent electric shock.
Connecting a TV and playback components
Connecting using HDMI:
Diagram Description: Shows connections from various components (DVD player, Blu-ray player, Set-top box, Game console) to the receiver's HDMI IN ports using HDMI cables. The receiver's HDMI OUT connects to an HDMI IN port on an HDMI/DVI-compatible TV.
- If the TV supports HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC), connect the TV's audio to the receiver via HDMI. Set ARC in HDMI Setup to ON. Refer to operating instructions for details.
- Refer to the TV's operation manual for TV connection and setup.
Connecting antennas
Diagram Description: Shows how to connect the FM wire antenna and AM loop antenna to the receiver's ANTENNA terminals.
Plugging in the receiver: Only plug in after all components, including speakers, are connected. Handle the power cord by the plug, do not pull the cord, and avoid touching it with wet hands. Do not place the unit on the cord, pinch it, or tie knots. Route cords to avoid tripping. Damaged cords can cause fire or shock; check periodically and replace if damaged. Disconnect the mains plug when not in use (e.g., vacation).
Plug the AC power cord into a convenient AC power outlet.
STEP 2 Initial Setup
Before you start
- Insert batteries into the remote control.
- Switch on the receiver and your TV.
- Turn the subwoofer on and turn up the volume.
Automatically setting up for surround sound (MCACC)
The Auto Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration (MCACC) setup uses the supplied setup microphone to measure and analyze test tones from the speakers.
Important:
- Measure in a quiet environment.
- Set the microphone to ear height when using a tripod.
- Connect the supplied setup microphone.
- Press MAIN RECEIVER on the remote control, then press ENTER.
- Automatic measuring will start.
- Measuring takes about 3 to 12 minutes.
- Follow on-screen instructions.
- Automatic setting is complete when the Home Menu screen appears.
- Diagram Description: Shows the receiver connected to a setup microphone. A TV screen displays the "Full Auto MCACC" screen with options like "Speaker System", "EQ Type", "MCACC", "Dolby Enabled Speaker", "Measurement Type", and "START".
- Note on MCACC screen:
- If "Reverse Phase" is displayed, speaker wiring (+/-) may be inverted. Check connections. If connections are correct, "Reverse Phase" may still display due to speakers or environment; select "Go Next" as it does not affect measurements.
- If "ERR" is displayed, check speaker connections.
- If the power turns off, refer to "Frequently asked questions" in the booklet.
- Make sure the setup microphone is disconnected.
STEP 3 Basic playback
Multichannel playback
- Switch on the playback component (e.g., Blu-ray Disc player connected to HDMI BD IN).
- Switch the receiver's input (e.g., press BD to select BD input).
- Press AUTO to select 'AUTO SURROUND'. Press SURR or ADV for multichannel playback and select your preferred listening mode.
- Start playback on the component (e.g., Blu-ray Disc player).
- Use VOLUME +/- to adjust the volume level (approx. -30 dB for no sound).
Note:
- If sound is not produced from center, rear, or subwoofer speakers, refer to "Frequently asked questions" in the booklet.
- If the remote control does not work, refer to "Frequently asked questions" in the booklet.

Note:
- This unit supports AirPlay. Refer to operating instructions and the Apple website (http://www.apple.com) for details.
- Software can be updated. On Mac OS, use Safari to update firmware.
Frequently asked questions
The center speaker or rear speaker does not produce sound
- Cause: AUTO SURROUND mode is selected for 2-channel audio input (TV, music).
- Solution: To play stereo in multichannel, press SURR or ADV to select a mode (e.g., [EXT. STEREO]).
To produce sound from TV
- Refer to page 8 of the booklet for connection and setting.
- Press the TV button to switch to TV input.
The subwoofer does not produce sound
- Cause: Front speaker is set to LARGE (low frequency component produced by front speaker).
- Solution: Change speaker setting.
- Method 1: Change front speaker to SMALL. Low frequency component will be produced by the subwoofer. (Not recommended if front speakers have high low-frequency capability).
- Method 2: Change subwoofer to PLUS. Low frequency component from front speaker will also be produced by subwoofer. Bass may be too powerful; consider Method 1 if so.
- Refer to "Speaker Setting" in the CD-ROM's operating instructions for procedures.
The remote control does not work
- Cause: Remote control operation mode is not switched.
- Solution:
- For initial settings (HOME MENU, AUDIO PARAMETER, replay settings): Press MAIN RECEIVER button first.
- For network and iPod functions: Press the respective button (NET, iPod, etc.).
- If still not working: Press MAIN RECEIVER button, then press the function button.
HDMI, network, etc. operations become unresponsive
- Cause: Receiver and connecting devices operations are unresponsive.
- Solution: Try resetting. Turn off power, press and hold STANDBY/ON button on the front panel for 5 seconds or more. (Power turns off in 5 seconds; settings are maintained.) Also, try replugging power cords of connected devices.
2 TVs (projector) are connected but video and audio are sometimes interrupted or not produced
- Cause: Interruption may occur due to TV power standby.
- Solution: Press the OUT P. button and the ➡ button to avoid selecting HDMI output connected to that TV. Refer to "Switching the HDMI output" in operating instructions.
The power suddenly turns off and the WIRELESS indicator flashes
- Cause: Conductive wire of speaker cord is contacting the rear panel, or positive and negative wires are contacting, activating the protection circuit.
- Solution: Twist speaker cord wires together again and connect them so they do not stick out from the speaker terminal on the amplifier or speaker side.
