Assembly & Installation Instructions
Step 1: Preparation
Carefully remove the fixture from the carton and check that all parts and accessories are included as shown in the illustrations.
Step 2: Pre-installation
Step A1: Stem Assembly
Diagram A1 shows the fixture body (N) with wires passing through stems (I) which are then screwed together onto the top of the fixture body.
Step A2: Attaching Quick Links
Diagram A2 illustrates attaching quick links (H) to loops (F) on the canopy (E) and the top of stems (I).
Step A3: Wire Routing and Arm Adjustment
Diagram A3 shows the process of passing fixture wires through loops (F) and canopy (E), gently pulling wires to ensure they are not stressed. It notes that arms (M) are adjustable and may be slightly loose. Users can choose to keep sockets (L) upside or downside. If downside, rotate arms (M) within 180 degrees counter-clockwise before tightening all screws (P) in the fixture body (N).
Step 3: Turn Off Power
Before starting installation, NEVER attempt any work without shutting off the electricity. Go to the main fuse or circuit breaker box and place the main power switch in the "OFF" position. Also, place the wall switch in the "OFF" position.
Step 4: Make Installation
Step B1: Prepare Mounting Plate
Diagram B1 shows unscrewing knob nuts (G) from the mounting plate (C).
Step B2: Mount Plate to Outlet Box
Diagram B2 illustrates attaching the mounting plate (C) to the outlet box using mounting screws (B).
Step B3: Adjust Fixture Wires
Diagram B3 shows shortening fixture wires if needed, ensuring a minimum of 6 inches of wire length remains measured above the mounting plate (C).
Step B4: Make Wire Connections
Connect wires as shown in the diagrams. PLEASE NOTE: The ground wire is BARE COPPER WIRE; NEVER connect other wires to ground wires.
Ground Wire Connections:
Diagram A shows connecting the green ground screw to the outlet box ground and fixture ground. Diagram B shows connecting the green ground screw to the outlet box ground and fixture ground using a crimped washer.
Supply Wire Connections:
Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to: Black fixture wire.
Connect White Supply Wire to: White fixture wire.
Wire Type Guide:
- Parallel cord (round & smooth) connects to Black.
- Parallel cord (square & ridged) connects to White.
- Clear, Brown, Gold, or Black wires without tracer connect to Black.
- Clear, Brown, Gold, or Black wires with tracer connect to White.
- Insulated wire (other than green) with copper conductor connects to Black.
- Insulated wire (other than green) with silver conductor connects to White.
Note on Parallel Wires: When parallel wires (SPTI & SPT II) are used, the neutral wire is square-shaped or ridged, and the other wire is round or smooth.
Twist wires together with plastic wire connectors until tightly joined. Wrap each connector with approved electrical tape, ensuring no wire strands are exposed. Carefully tuck all wires into the outlet box.
Step B5: Secure Canopy
Diagram B5 shows raising the canopy (E) to the ceiling and securing it in place by tightening knob nuts (G) onto the pre-assembled screws on the mounting plate (C). The canopy (E) should be snug against the ceiling. If not, adjust the threaded length of the pre-assembled mounting screws on the mounting plate assembly (C) by first unscrewing the hex nuts, then adjusting the screws, and finally tightening the hex nuts again.
Step B6: Attach Shades and Bulbs
Diagram B6 shows removing socket rings (J) from sockets (L), carefully placing glass shades (K) onto sockets (L), and then securing them with socket rings (J). Install bulbs (not included), ensuring not to exceed the maximum wattage recommended on the socket.
Step 5: Final Check
Check that everything is installed properly, then turn on the light and enjoy.
