Battery Installation
Requires two AAA alkaline batteries (not included).
- Remove the battery compartment cover.
- Insert batteries, matching (+) and (–) marks.
- Replace the battery cover.
Precautions: Do not mix old and new batteries, or different battery types (alkaline, carbon-zinc, rechargeable). Remove old batteries promptly.
Programming Your Remote
There are four methods to program the remote:
1. Auto Code Search
Automatically cycles through all codes for the selected device type. This is the easiest but can be the slowest method.
- Manually turn on the device.
- Press and hold the desired device key (e.g., TV).
- Simultaneously press and hold the remote’s POWER key until the indicator LED stays on. Release both keys.
- Point the remote at the device and press SLOW. Wait 5 seconds. If the device turns off, proceed to step 5. If not, press SLOW again to test the next batch of codes. Continue until the device turns off.
- When the device turns off, press SKIP BACK and wait 2 seconds. If the device turns on, press OK. If not, press SKIP BACK again every 2 seconds until the device turns on, then press OK.
2. Brand Code Search
Searches through codes specific to a selected brand. Faster if your brand is listed.
- Manually turn on the device.
- Locate your device’s brand in the Brand Code List and note the corresponding number.
- Press and hold the desired device key.
- Simultaneously press and hold the remote’s POWER key until the indicator LED stays on. Release both keys.
- Press SKIP FWD and wait 2 seconds. If the device turns off, press OK. If not, press SKIP FWD again every 2 seconds until the device turns off, then press OK.
- Enter the noted brand code number on the remote keypad.
3. Direct Code Entry
Enter a specific code from the provided code list for your brand. This is potentially the fastest method.
- Manually turn on the device.
- Locate the correct device section and your brand in the Code List. Note the five-digit codes.
- Press and hold the desired device key.
- While holding the device key, enter the five-digit code. The indicator LED will go off after the first digit.
- If the indicator light stays on after entering the code, programming is successful. If it blinks four times and turns off, the code is invalid or a step was missed; try again.
4. Manual Code Search
Cycles through codes one by one. This can be time-consuming.
- Manually turn on the device.
- Press and hold the desired device key.
- Simultaneously press and hold the remote’s POWER key until the indicator LED stays on. Release both keys.
- Point the remote at the device and press SKIP FWD. Wait 2 seconds. If the device turns off, press OK. If not, press SKIP FWD again every 2 seconds until the device turns off, then press OK.
Testing for Maximum Functionality
- Test various functions of the device with the remote.
- If some functions do not work, repeat the programming method and try a different code from the list or continue the search until the device turns off and then back on, indicating a better code match.
Reassigning DVR•AUX1 and VCR•AUX2 Keys
To control other device types with these keys:
- Press and hold the key to be reassigned (DVR•AUX1 or VCR•AUX2). The indicator light turns on.
- While holding the key, press and release the number corresponding to the new device type (1=TV, 2=VCR/DVR, 3=DVD, 4=Audio, 5=SAT/CBL/STREAMER/DTV). The indicator light turns off.
- Release the key. The indicator light blinks four times and turns off.
- Follow the programming instructions for the new device type.
Device Type Number Mapping:
- Additional TV: Press 1
- VCR or DVR: Press 2
- Additional DVD: Press 3
- Additional Audio Device: Press 4
- Additional Streaming Player, Satellite Receiver, Cable Box, or DTV Converter: Press 5
Code Retrieval
To record codes for future reference:
- Press and hold the device key whose code you want to retrieve. The indicator light turns on.
- While holding the device key, press and hold the INFO•OPTIONS key. The indicator light turns off. After three seconds, it turns back on. Release both keys.
- Starting with key 1, press and release number keys (1-9, then 0) sequentially. The number that causes the indicator light to blink is the first digit of the code. Record it.
- Repeat step 4 until all five digits of the code are retrieved.
Note: TV codes start with 1, VCR/DVR with 2, DVD with 3, Audio with 4, and SAT/CBL/STREAMER/DTV with 5.
Advanced Functions
Volume Punch-Through
Allows Volume and MUTE keys to control the TV or the last accessed AUDIO device without exiting the current mode. This occurs automatically.
Advanced Punch-Through
To specify which device (TV or AUDIO) the volume controls should punch through to:
- Press and hold the device key whose volume commands you want to send (e.g., SAT•CBL•STRM). The indicator light turns on.
- While holding the device key, press and hold the VOL UP key. The indicator light turns off.
- After three seconds, the indicator light turns on and stays on. Release both keys.
- Press and release the device key (TV or AUDIO) to which you want volume to punch through. The indicator light flashes and turns off.
Note: The device key selected in step 4 must be programmed with a TV or AUDIO code. If an invalid key is pressed, the LED blinks four times and turns off.
Important: Once a specific Volume Punch-Through is set, all other devices default to AUDIO. Manually program other devices if needed.
Troubleshooting
- Remote not operating device: Ensure correct mode, no obstructions, and fresh batteries.
- Cannot program remote: Check distance/angle, try different programming methods, ensure combo units are programmed separately, and check batteries.
- Commands not performed properly: Ensure correct mode, device is ready, valid key pressed, and consider using ENTER key for channel entry. Test for maximum functionality with different codes.
- Indicator light not on: Ensure valid key pressed, correct mode, and fresh batteries.
- Remote not changing channels: Ensure correct mode, use ENTER key after channel number, check for obstructions, and aim at IR sensor.
- Device menu not on TV screen: Ensure proper device connection and input selection. Check if menu access is supported by the brand; original remote may be needed.
