CAUTION

HDMI is a very complex technology requiring continuous authentication of the signal and the same video resolution and audio settings on all electronic equipment in the system. When there are multiple sources and displays, the video resolution and audio setting on all connected units must be adjusted to correspond with that of the display having the lowest video and audio capability.

Features

The Vanco HDWIRKIT/RX extends HDMI signals wirelessly from a source to a display up to 131ft/40m using wireless technology. There are no cables required between the transmitter and receiver, making for a clean and easy installation, especially where cabling is difficult or impossible to run. Using a 5GHz operation frequency, the HDWIRKIT Transmitter and Receiver do not require line of sight transmission; the wireless signal will travel through most obstacles with no issues. Out of the box, the HDWIRKIT works as a point-to-point configuration, but also supports having multiple sets on the same site (up to 10) and one-to-multiple (1 TX to up to 4 RX) displays using HDWIR-RX receivers (sold separately). It is a great solution for splitting a single source signal wirelessly. It also features dual-band IR call back to control the source from any display location connected. With the ability of sending HDMI signals wirelessly, whether point-to-point or splitting to multiple displays, the HDWIRKIT and optional HDWIR-RX are easy solutions where running cable is an issue.

Connect and Operate

  1. Connect an HDMI cable from your source device into the HDMI INPUT port of the TRANSMITTER.
  2. OPTIONAL: Connect the provided IR BLASTER into the IR OUT port of the TRANSMITTER.
  3. OPTIONAL: Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT (Loop-out) port to connect to a local display, such as a control room display.
  4. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUTPUT port of the RECEIVER to your display or sink device.
  5. OPTIONAL: Connect the provided IR RECEIVER into the IR IN port of the RECEIVER.
  6. Connect both power supplies to the TRANSMITTER and RECEIVER using the provided power supplies. Connect the TRANSMITTER first, followed by the RECEIVER.
  7. Using the manual toggle buttons on the units or the provided IR remote control, select any available channel. The TRANSMITTER and RECEIVER MUST be on the same channel. If using multiple kits, set each kit to different channels to avoid signal interference.

NOTE: If there is no signal on startup, press the RESET button on the TX and/or RX.

NOTE: Transmission distance may differ based on certain environmental factors such as other wireless signals that can interfere with transmission. Solid core walls, brick, or glass can significantly shorten the range at higher resolutions.

IR Pass-Through

The IR system allows you to control the source device connected to the extender unit from the display location. There are two important things to note when setting up the IR system:

  1. The IR Receiver (IR RX) is what you point your remote control at to send an IR signal. This pigtail is placed at the display location for controlling the source.
  2. The IR Blaster (IR TX) is what sends the IR signal to the device you intend to control. This pigtail is placed at the source device, either pointed at the source's IR sensor, or placed on the front panel of the source. See below for placement tips.

IR Blaster (TX) Placement

To control the source: plug the IR Blaster into the IR OUT port of the TRANSMITTER. Place the blaster in front of the IR eye of the source device.

Note: Placement of the IR Blaster is critical and can result in the IR system not working if improperly placed.

Placement Tips:

  • First, locate the IR eye or window on the source device.
  • If placing the IR blaster directly on the front panel of the source, do not stick it directly on top of the IR eye or IR window. The IR signal cannot travel through the double-sided tape on the Blaster. Instead, place the blaster on either side, or on the top or bottom of the IR eye or window, with the tip of the blaster facing the IR eye or window.
  • The diagram illustrates that the IR signal emits from the tip of the IR Blaster. Ensure this tip is aimed towards the source's IR receiver.

IR Receiver (RX) Placement

To control the source: Plug the IR Receiver into the IR IN port of the RECEIVER. Place the receiver at or near the display.

Note: Due to possible differences in 3rd party IR cables, please use the IR cables that came with the product.

Troubleshooting

  1. Display shows "waiting for connection": Check if the power supplies for the transmitter and receiver are well connected and that the power indicator lights are ON.
  2. Display states, "Please check the TX input signal...": First, check if the input signal is properly connected and powered on. Next, try connecting the signal source directly to the display device to see if there is a signal output from the source device, or try changing the signal source.
  3. Display is not stable:
    • Try moving the position of the transmitter and receiver and ensure the device's range has not been exceeded.
    • Press the "RESET" button on the RX first, followed by the TX. Allow time for syncing before trying the TX RESET button.
    • Remove power and HDMI cables from both units, reconnect the HDMI cables FIRST, then reconnect power.
    • Try to remove or minimize other wireless signals that may be disrupting the transmission.
