Recycle
Always return used electronic products, batteries, and packaging materials to dedicated collection points to prevent uncontrolled waste disposal and promote recycling. Electrical and electronic products contain valuable materials that can be recovered.
The crossed-out wheelie-bin symbol on your product reminds you that electrical and electronic products and batteries must be taken to separate collection at the end of their working life. Do not dispose of these products as unsorted municipal waste; take them for recycling.
Battery and Charger
Battery and charger info
Use only the original HE402 rechargeable battery and the DSA-5PF18-05 charger. Charger plug type may vary. HMD Global may offer additional battery or charger models.
Battery and charger safety
Once charging is complete, unplug the charger. Continuous charging should not exceed 12 hours. A fully charged battery loses charge over time if unused.
Keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F) for optimal performance. Extreme temperatures reduce battery capacity and lifetime.
Obey local regulations. Recycle when possible. Do not dispose of as household waste.
Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure or high temperatures (e.g., fire), as it may explode or leak flammable liquid or gas.
Do not dismantle, cut, crush, bend, puncture, or damage the battery. If a battery leaks, avoid contact with skin or eyes. Flush affected areas with water or seek medical help. Do not modify, insert foreign objects, or immerse the battery in water or other liquids. Batteries may explode if damaged.
Use the battery and charger only for their intended purposes. Improper use may present a risk of fire, explosion, or other hazard and may invalidate warranty.
If the battery or charger appears damaged, take it to a service center or phone dealer before continuing use. Never use a damaged battery or charger. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge during a lightning storm.
To unplug a charger or accessory, pull the plug, not the cord.
For removable batteries: Always switch the device off and unplug the charger before removing the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can occur when a metallic object touches battery metal strips.
Health and Safety Warnings
Small children
Your device and accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of the reach of small children.
Medical devices
Operation of radio transmitting equipment may interfere with inadequately shielded medical devices. Consult a physician or the medical device's manufacturer to determine if it is adequately shielded.
Implanted medical devices
Manufacturers recommend a minimum separation of 15.3 cm (6 inches) between a wireless device and an implanted medical device (e.g., pacemakers, insulin pumps). Persons with such devices should:
- Always keep the wireless device more than 15.3 cm (6 inches) from the medical device.
- Not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.
- Hold the wireless device to the ear opposite the medical device.
- Switch the wireless device off if interference is suspected.
- Follow the manufacturer directions for the implanted medical device.
Consult your healthcare provider if you have questions about using your wireless device with an implanted medical device.
Information on health
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provide information on mobile phones and health. Visit www.fda.gov and www.fcc.gov for updated information. The World Health Organization (WHO) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) also offer related information.
The FDA suggests limiting RF exposure by limiting call length or using handsfree devices if concerned about health effects.
Hearing
Warning: Using a headset may affect your ability to hear outside sounds. Do not use the headset where it can endanger your safety. Some wireless devices may interfere with hearing aids.
Nickel
The surface of this device is nickel-free.
Vehicles
Radio signals may affect improperly installed or shielded electronic systems in vehicles. Check with your vehicle manufacturer for details. Only authorized personnel should install the device in a vehicle. Do not store flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device. Do not place the device or accessories in the air bag deployment area.
Potentially explosive environments
Switch your device off in potentially explosive environments, such as near gas pumps. Sparks may cause an explosion or fire. Note restrictions in areas with fuel, chemical plants, or blasting operations. Areas with potentially explosive environments may not be clearly marked.
Certification Information (SAR)
This mobile device meets guidelines for exposure to radio waves as set forth by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
FCC RF Exposure Information: Your handset is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy. The standards include a substantial safety margin. The exposure standard for wireless handsets uses the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg. Tests are performed in positions and locations as required by the FCC. The highest SAR value for this handset model when tested for use at the ear is 1.06 W/kg, and when worn on the body in a holder or carry case, is 1.17 W/kg.
Body-worn Operation: This device was tested for typical body-worn operations with the handset kept 1.5 cm from the body. To maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure requirements, use accessories that maintain a 1.5 cm separation distance. Accessories should not contain metallic components. The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this handset model with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with FCC RF emission guidelines. SAR information is on file with the FCC and can be found under the FCC ID Search section of www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/ after searching on FCC ID 2AJOTTA-1420. Additional information on SAR can be found on the FCC website at www.fcc.gov/general/radio-frequency-safety-0.
To send data or messages, a good network connection is needed. Sending may be delayed until a connection is available. Follow separation distance instructions until sending is finished.
During general use, SAR values are usually well below the stated values because the operating power of your mobile is automatically decreased when full power is not needed. Device models may have different versions and component/design changes may affect SAR values.
