3 Ways to Install Downlighting

Canless Direct Mount

Canless downlights feature their own remote junction box and mount directly to the ceiling without a housing. They are available in various sizes, shapes, and styles for regressed or adjustable downlighting, including ultra-slim fixtures for versatile installation.

Surface Mount

Low-profile, unobtrusive surface mount downlights fit junction boxes and sit flush with the ceiling for a sleek appearance.

Housings & Trims

Choose from a complete series of remodel and new construction housings to complement HALO's high-quality recessed LED trims, designed for installation into new or existing cans.

Fixture Features

Flexibility at Your Fingertips

Color Temperature: Selectable color temperatures (2700K Soft White, 3000K Bright White, 3500K True White, 4000K Cool White, 5000K Daylight) allow for precise lighting control. Most HALO fixtures feature SeleCCTable™ technology for adjusting color temperature and Lumen Select for brightness.

Lumens: Choose from selectable lumen options based on ceiling height or desired light level. Example settings include 600 lm (7W) at 9', 900 lm (10W) at 12', and 1200 lm (14W) at 15'+.

Set the Mood

Dim-to-Warm: This feature allows specific premium HALO downlights to transition smoothly from bright white (3000K) to a cozy candlelight (1800K) as they are dimmed.

Housings

Recessed Housings

Available in 3", 4", 5", & 6" sizes for New Construction and Remodel. Features include compact construction, suitability for 2x6 framing, integral thermal protector guards, compatibility with 120V HALO LED modules, and airtight design suitable for direct contact with insulation.

Ultra Shallow Housings

4" New Construction and Remodel Housings offer ultra-shallow design, compatibility with HALO 4" LED modules/trims, suitability for 2x4 framing or shallow plenum construction, IC rating for direct contact with insulation, adjustable housing for ceiling thickness, and a matte black aluminum construction.

Fire Rated Housings

Available in 4", 5", & 6" New Construction Housings. These prevent the passage of flames and toxic gases, are fire-rated for up to 2 hours (UL 263 compliant), compatible with 120V HALO LED modules, suitable for multi-family and mixed-use applications, and are airtight and suitable for direct contact with insulation.

Canless New Construction Mounting Frames and Smash Plates

HALO Canless Mounting Frames install like recessed housings to hold fixtures and junction boxes during rough-in.

1. Round Mounting Frame with Drywall Collar: 4" and 6" frames include an integrated 1/2" collar for easy drywall cutting from below the ceiling.
2. Round-to-Square Flat Mounting Frames: Breakaway tabs allow use with both round and square canless fixtures. Available in 3", 4", 6", and 8" sizes.
3. New Construction Smash Plate: Breakaway tabs allow use with both round and square canless fixtures. Features multiple alignment points for consistent placement and coverage between 12- and 24-inch joists. Compatible with 3" round, 4" round and square, and 6" round and square fixtures.

Slim Canless

Fixtures are thin enough to install virtually anywhere, with no housing required.

This high-end fixture series offers sleek, small-aperture luminaires with precision-engineered trims for inviting, low-glare environments. ML Flex allows for downlighting, adjusting, and wall washing with advanced SeleCCTable™ technology and flicker-free dimming below 5%. The Flex Series is ideal for residential or commercial applications, offering style, functionality, and affordability.

ML Flex Downlights: Available in 1", 2", 3", 4" sizes, with options for Smooth or Baffle finishes, and 3" & 4" Wall Wash options.

Canless-to-Can 2-in-1 Installation

HALO 2-in-1 products ensure visual consistency regardless of installation method. They mount directly to ceilings for new installations and can convert to install into pre-existing housings.
