Your AKASO Brave 4 Pro
The camera features the following components:
- 1. OK/Shutter/Power Button: Used for power and capturing photos/videos.
- 2. Front Screen: Displays camera status and settings.
- 3. Micro USB Port: For charging and data transfer.
- 4. Memory Card Slot: For inserting the microSD card.
- 5. Micro HDMI Port: For connecting to external displays.
- 6. Lens: Captures images and video.
- 7. Screen: The main display for viewing and settings.
- 8. Up Button: Navigates menus upwards or switches between front/rear screens.
- 9. Speaker: Outputs audio.
- 10. Down Button: Navigates menus downwards or turns Wi-Fi on/off.
- 11. Battery Compartment Cover: Houses the removable battery.
Note: The camera will not record sound when placed inside the waterproof case.
Getting Started
To record videos and take photos, you need a memory card (not included).
Memory Card Requirements
- Use U3 memory cards.
- Capacity up to 128GB (FAT32 format).
Important:
- Format the memory card in the camera before first use. Regular formatting helps maintain the card's condition. Formatting erases all data, so back up your files first.
- Memory cards formatted as FAT32 will stop recording when individual files exceed 4GB and will restart recording on a new file.
Button Guide
- Power Button: Long press to turn the camera on/off. Short press to confirm selections.
- Up Button: Long press to switch between the front and rear screens. Short press to enter playback mode.
- Down Button: Long press to turn Wi-Fi on/off. Short press to access settings.
Powering On/Off
To turn on: Press and hold the Power button for three seconds. The status light will illuminate, and the camera will emit a sound. The camera is on when information appears on the display.
To turn off: Press and hold the Power button for three seconds. The camera will emit a sound, and the status light will turn off.
Mode Switching and Wi-Fi
Switching Modes
With the camera on, swipe up on the screen to switch modes, or tap the current mode (e.g., "Video") on the screen to select a different one.
To exit a mode: Press the Mode button or tap the "X" icon.
Wi-Fi On/Off
To turn on Wi-Fi: Turn on the camera, then press and hold the Down button. Alternatively, swipe up to the mode menu and turn on Wi-Fi.
To turn off Wi-Fi: Press the OK button.
Mode Overview
The camera offers 6 modes: Video, Photo, Burst Photo, Time Lapse Video, Timer Photo, and Wi-Fi.
When the camera is on, tap the current mode at the bottom of the screen or swipe up to access the mode menu.
Video Mode
Video Mode is the default mode upon powering on the camera. In Video Mode, press the Shutter button to start recording video. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording. Tap ? to adjust the zoom level.
Photo and Video Settings
Photo Mode
Swipe right to enter Photo Mode. In Photo Mode, press the Shutter button to take a photo. Tap ? to adjust the zoom level.
Burst Photo Mode
Swipe up to "Select Mode" or tap "Video" to enter Burst Photo Mode. In Burst Photo Mode, press the Shutter button to capture 3, 5, or 10 photos per second.
Time Lapse Video Mode
Swipe up to "Select Mode" or tap "Video" to enter Time Lapse Video Mode. In this mode, press the Shutter button to capture a series of videos at intervals of 0.5s, 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, 30s, or 60s. Time Lapse videos are captured without sound.
Timer Photo Mode
Swipe up to "Select Mode" or tap "Video" to enter Timer Photo Mode. In Timer Photo Mode, press the Shutter button to take photos at intervals of 3s, 5s, 10s, 20s, 30s, or 60s.
Wi-Fi Mode
With the camera on, press and hold the OK button to turn on Wi-Fi.
Video Resolution
Available video resolutions include: 4K30FPS, 2.7K30FPS, 1080P120FPS, 1080P60FPS, 1080P30FPS, 720P240FPS, 720P120FPS, 720P60FPS, 720P30FPS. The default setting is 4K30FPS.
Note: Recording videos at high resolutions or high frame rates in warm ambient temperatures may cause the camera to overheat and consume more power.
Video Mode Settings
- Video Mode: Options include Video, Slow Motion, and Loop Record. The default is Video.
- Image Stabilization: Off/On. Default is Off. This feature compensates for motion to provide smoother footage, especially during activities with movement like cycling or motorcycling.
- Field of View (Angle): Super Wide, Wide, Middle, Narrow. Default is Super Wide. This setting determines how much of the scene is captured by the lens.
- Diving Mode: Off/On. Default is Off. This mode compensates for the lack of yellow light in underwater environments, optimized for tropical and blue waters at depths of 10 to 80 feet.
- Video Length: 2 Min, 3 Min, 5 Min. Default is 2 Min. When using loop recording, only the last specified duration is saved after stopping. If the card is full, new files overwrite old ones when loop recording is enabled.
- Exposure: -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3. Default is 0. This setting adjusts the exposure level, allowing you to prioritize specific areas of the scene.
More Settings
- WDR (Wide Dynamic Range): Off/On. Default is Off. WDR preserves more detail in both dark and bright areas of an image, useful for backlit scenes. Available only in Video mode.
- Metering: Average, Center, Spot. Default is Average. Select how the camera measures the scene's light.
- Sharpness: High, Medium, Low. Default is High. Controls the detail quality in videos and photos.
- Video Quality: High, Medium, Low. Default is Medium.
- ISO: Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400. Default is Auto. ISO determines the camera's light sensitivity and affects image noise.
- Date Stamp: Off/On. Default is On. Adds a date stamp to your videos and photos.
- Motion Detection: Off/On. Default is Off. The camera automatically records video when motion is detected.
- Photo Resolution: 20MP, 16MP, 13MP, 8MP. Default is 20MP.
- Anti-shake: Off/On. Default is Off. Compensates for motion to produce smoother footage.
- Burst Photo: 3P/s, 5P/s, 10P/s. Default is 3P/s. Captures up to 10 photos per second, ideal for fast-moving subjects.
- Time Lapse Interval: 0.5s, 1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, 30s, 60s. Default is 0.5s.
- Photo Interval: 3s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 60s. Default is 3s. The camera continuously takes photos at the set interval until manually stopped.
- Self-timer: On/Off. Default is On. Provides a delay between pressing the shutter and taking the photo, useful for group shots.
Camera Settings
- Special Effects: Normal, Black & White, Negative, Retro, Red, Green, Blue. Default is Normal.
- Power Frequency: Auto, 50 Hz, 60 Hz. Default is Auto.
- Language: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese. Default is English.
- Date & Time: YYYY/MM/DD. Syncs with the AKASO GO App. Note: Date and time will reset if the battery is removed for an extended period.
- Sounds:
- Shutter: Off/On
- Beep: Off/On
- Volume: 0, 30, 70, 100
- Boot: Off/On. Default is On.
- Drive Mode: Off/On. Default is Off.
- Upside Down: Off/On. Default is Off. This setting orients videos or photos to prevent upside-down recording. Note: The user interface will invert when Upside Down is enabled.
- Microphone: Built-in/External. Default is Built-in.
- Screen Saver: Unlimited, 30S, 1Min, 2Min. Default is 1 Minute. Turning off the display after a period of inactivity saves battery power. Press any button on the camera to wake the display.
- Auto Power Off: No Limit, 3 Min, 5 Min, 10 Min. Default is 3 Min. This feature turns off the camera after a period of inactivity to save battery power.
- Format: To maintain the memory card's good condition, format it regularly. Formatting erases all content, so back up photos and videos first. To format the card: Turn on the camera, navigate to Settings > Storage > Format. Confirm the format operation.
- Reset: Resets menu settings to default values. Options: Confirm/Cancel.
- Device Information: Displays Brave 4 Pro Version: FX9307I-V1.0, Date: 4-20-2021. You can check the model, version, and update date of your Brave 4 Pro.
Connecting to AKASO GO App
Download the AKASO GO app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app allows remote control of the camera via smartphone or tablet, including live preview, playback, downloading, sharing, and camera settings.
- Turn on the camera, then press and hold the Down button to enable Wi-Fi. You can also swipe up to the mode menu to turn on Wi-Fi.
- On your smartphone's Wi-Fi settings, find the camera's Wi-Fi network, connect to it, and enter the password "1234567890".
- Open the AKASO GO app, tap "Device" > "Add Device", and select "Brave 4 Pro".
- Check "The above operation has been confirmed" and tap "Live Preview". Your camera will now be connected to the AKASO GO app.
Content Playback
You can play back your content on the camera's display, computer, TV, or smartphone/tablet. You can also play content by inserting the memory card directly into a compatible device.
Viewing Videos and Photos on the Brave 4 Pro
- Turn on the camera.
- Tap the video playback icon ▶️ in the bottom left corner of the screen to enter playback mode.
- Tap the file list icon [file list icon].
- Tap the forward or backward icons [forward icon], [backward icon] to locate the video or photo you wish to view.
- Tap the video playback icon ▶️ to play videos in full-screen mode.
- To exit video or photo files, tap the back icon [back icon].
Note: If the memory card contains a large number of files, loading them may take up to a minute.
Deleting Files
- Enter playback mode.
- Tap the video playback icon ▶️ or the file list icon [file list icon].
- Tap the forward or backward icons [forward icon], [backward icon] to locate the video or photo you want to delete.
- Tap the delete icon [delete icon]. A prompt "Delete this file? Yes/No" will appear.
- Select "Yes" to delete the selected file.
Data Transfer
Transferring Data to a Computer
To play videos and photos on your computer, you must first transfer them. Transferring also frees up space on your memory card for new content.
To transfer files to a computer using a card reader (not included) and your computer's file explorer: connect the card reader, insert the memory card, and then transfer or delete files. Note that you may need a card reader for audio files.
Transferring Data to a Smartphone or Tablet
- Open the AKASO GO app and connect your camera.
- Tap the Playback icon to view all videos and photos.
- Tap the icon [select icon], select the photo or video you wish to download, and then tap the Download icon in the bottom right corner.
Important Notes:
- If you cannot transfer files to an iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Photos, find "AKASO GO", and select "All Photos".
- iPhones do not support downloading 4K or 2.7K videos via the Wi-Fi app. Please use a card reader to transfer these files.
Camera Maintenance
Follow these tips for optimal camera performance:
- To ensure the best audio quality, gently shake the camera or blow into the microphone to remove any debris from the microphone openings.
- To clean the lens, wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not insert foreign objects around the lens.
- Avoid touching the lens with your fingers.
- Keep the camera away from drops and shocks that could damage internal components.
- Keep the camera away from high temperatures and direct sunlight to prevent damage.
Maximizing Battery Life
If the battery reaches 0% during recording, the camera will save the file and shut down. To maximize battery life, follow these tips:
- Turn off wireless connections (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Record videos at lower frame rates and resolutions.
- Use the Screen Saver setting.
Adjusting Zoom Level
The Zoom function allows you to adjust the zoom level for photos. Zoom is available in Video, Burst Photo, and Timer Photo modes. The Brave 4 Pro offers up to 5x zoom.
- Turn on the Brave 4 Pro.
- Enter Video, Burst Photo, or Timer Photo mode.
- Tap ? to adjust the zoom level.
Reformatting Memory Card
To keep your memory card in good condition, format it regularly. Formatting erases all content, so back up your photos and videos first.
- Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds to turn on the Brave 4 Pro.
- Press the Down button or tap the settings icon on the screen to enter Camera Settings.
- Press the Mode button, then press the Down button to find the "Format" option.
- Press the Shutter button; the screen will display "memory card Storage Space: xxG/xxG Format/Cancel."
- Press the OK button or tap "Format". A "Formatting..." and "Format successful" message will appear. The memory card is now successfully formatted.
Battery Storage and Handling
The camera contains sensitive components, including the battery. Avoid exposing the camera to very low or very high temperatures, as this can temporarily shorten battery life or cause the camera to malfunction. Avoid sudden changes in temperature or humidity, which can cause condensation inside the camera.
- Do not dry the camera or battery using external heat sources like a microwave or hairdryer.
- Do not store the battery with metal objects such as coins, keys, or necklaces, as this could cause a fire.
- Do not make unauthorized modifications to the camera, as this may compromise safety, compliance, or performance.
WARNING: Do not drop, disassemble, open, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred, microwave, incinerate, or paint the camera or battery. Do not insert foreign objects into the battery compartment. Do not use the camera or battery if it is damaged (e.g., cracked, punctured, or water-damaged). Disassembly or puncturing the battery may cause an explosion or fire.
Remote Control
The remote control is splash-resistant but not waterproof.
Video
To record videos, set the camera to Video mode.
- To start recording: Press the grey video button. The camera will emit a beep, and the status light will blink during recording.
- To stop recording: Press the grey video button again. The camera will emit a beep, the status light will stop blinking, and recording will cease.
Photo
To take a photo, set the camera to Photo mode.
- To take a photo: Press the red button. The camera will emit a shutter sound.
Replacing Remote Control Battery
The remote control uses a CR2032 battery.
- Using a Phillips screwdriver (1.8mm tip), unscrew the 4 screws on the back cover of the remote to open it.
- Unscrew the remaining four screws on the PCB.
- Lift the PCB and slide out the battery as shown in the diagram. Note: Do not invert the PCB to avoid reversing the camera and video button functions.
- Install the new battery, ensuring the "+" terminal faces upwards.
- Reinstall the 4 screws onto the PCB.
- Reinstall the 4 screws onto the back cover.

You can mount your camera on helmets, handlebars, and other devices in various ways:
