Congratulations on your purchase of this GE Universal Remote Control. This remote is capable of operating thousands of audio/video devices including TVs, Blu-ray™/DVD players, streaming media players, sound bars, cable receivers and more!

Setup

Battery Installation

  1. On the back of the remote, pull down on the textured surface and slide the battery cover downward to remove.
  2. Match the (+) and (-) marks on the batteries to the (+) and (-) marks inside the battery compartment, then insert two (2) AA batteries. Use fresh batteries.
  3. Position the battery cover slightly below the opening and push upward to lock into place.

Note: If your remote stops operating properly, replace the batteries with new ones.

Battery Precautions

Battery Saver

Your remote automatically turns off if buttons are depressed for more than 8 seconds. This saves batteries if the remote gets stuck with buttons pressed down.

Code Saver

You have up to 10 minutes to change batteries without losing programmed codes.

Button Functions

The remote features the following buttons:

  1. Power : Turns devices ON/OFF.
  2. TV, cbl : Selects the device to control.
  3. Volume Up/Down : Adjusts audio volume.
  4. Channel Up/Down : Changes TV channels.
  5. Mute : Mutes audio output.
  6. Previous Channel : Returns to the previously selected channel.
  7. Numbers (0-9) : Used for direct channel selection.
  8. Dot (•) : Used to select digital channels (e.g., 4.1).
  9. Enter : Confirms channel selection or other inputs.
  10. Setup : Used to program the remote.
  11. Input : Selects video inputs.
  12. Sleep : Turns the device off after a set period.*

*This button accesses pre-programmed sleep timer functions within a device; it does not add sleep timer functionality to devices lacking it.

Programming Your Remote

This remote can control multiple audio/video devices. You need to program it for your specific devices using one of two methods: Direct Code Entry or Auto Code Search.

Note: This remote comes preprogrammed for Samsung TVs. Press TV for Samsung TVs.

Direct Code Entry (Recommended)

  1. Locate the included Code List. Find the section for your device type (TV, cbl) and brand. Circle all the remote codes for your brand.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light turns on. Release SETUP. The red light will stay on.
  3. Press and release the device button (e.g., TV, cbl) for the device you wish to control. The red light will blink once and remain on.
  4. Enter the first 4-digit remote code from the Code List using the number buttons. The red light will turn off after the fourth digit.
  5. Point the remote at the device and test the buttons. If they don't work as expected, repeat from Step 2 using the next circled code for that device.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for each device you wish to control.

Programming Notes:

Auto Code Search

This process searches all stored codes for your device. Read all steps before starting.

  1. Manually turn on the device you wish to control. (Cannot be used for devices without power ON/OFF capability).
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator light turns on. Release SETUP. The red light will stay on.
  3. Press and release the device button (e.g., TV, cbl). The red light will blink once and remain on.
  4. Point the remote at the device and press and release the POWER button. The remote will send 10 codes. The red light will blink once for each code and remain on.
  5. If the device turned off: Go to Step 5. If not: Repeat Step 4 to test the next 10 codes.
  6. Manually turn the device back on.
  7. Point the remote at the device and press and release the VOL + button. The remote will resend the first code from the previous batch of 10. The red light will blink once and remain on.
  8. If the device turned off: You've found a code. Press and release the same device button used in Step 3 to store the code. Proceed to Step 7. If not: Continue pressing VOL + (wait ~3 seconds between presses) until the device turns off. Once it turns off, press and release the device button used in Step 3 to store the code. Proceed to Step 7.

Notes:

  1. Use the remote to turn the device back on. Test the buttons. If they don't work as expected, repeat from Step 2 to search for a better code.
  2. Repeat this process for each device you wish to control.

Using Your Remote

Master Volume Feature

This feature allows a single device's volume buttons to control the volume of a selected device, regardless of which device mode the remote is in (e.g., volume buttons control an audio receiver while the remote is in TV mode).

Enabling the Master Volume Feature

  1. Press and hold SETUP until the red light turns on. Release SETUP.
  2. Press and release the device button (TV, cbl) for the device whose volume you want to control.
  3. Press and release MUTE.
  4. Press and release VOL +. The red light blinks twice and turns off.

Disabling the Master Volume Feature

  1. Press and hold SETUP until the red light turns on. Release SETUP.
  2. Press and release the device button programmed for Master Volume.
  3. Press and release MUTE.
  4. Press and release VOL -. The red light blinks twice and turns off.

Code Identification

  1. Press and hold SETUP until the red light turns on. Release SETUP.
  2. Press and release the desired device button (TV, cbl, etc.).
  3. Press and release ENTER.
  4. Press and release the #1 button. Count the flashes of the red light; this is the first digit of the code. Repeat for #2, #3, and #4 buttons for the remaining digits.
  5. Press and release ENTER to exit.

Reset to Factory Settings

  1. Press and hold SETUP until the red light turns on. Release SETUP.
  2. Press and release MUTE.
  3. Press and release the #0 button. The red indicator light will flash twice.

Troubleshooting

Remote does not operate your device.

Remote does not operate some features of your device.
