Battery Installation
- On the back of the remote, pull down on the textured surface and slide the battery cover downward to remove.
- Match the (+) and (-) marks on the batteries to the (+) and (-) marks inside the battery compartment, then insert two (2) AA batteries. Be sure to use fresh batteries.
- Position the battery cover slightly below the opening and push upward to lock into place.
NOTE: If your remote stops operating properly, replace the batteries with new ones.
Battery Precautions

Programming Your Remote
This GE Universal Remote is designed to control multiple audio/video devices. You will need to program it for your specific devices. Two methods are available: Direct Code Entry and Auto Code Search.
Direct Code Entry (Recommended)
This is generally the simplest and quickest method.
- Locate the Code List included with your remote. Find the section for your device type (e.g., TV, Blu-ray, AUX, CBL, Stream, Audio). Locate your device brand and circle all corresponding remote codes.
- Press and hold the [Setup Button] until the red indicator light turns on. Release the button; the light will remain on. (Note: The red light may be small or integrated into the power button).
- Press and release the appropriate device button (e.g., [TV Button], [CBL Button]) for the device you wish to control. The red light will blink once and stay on. (Note: Any device button can be used to control any device type listed in the Code List).
- Use the number buttons to enter the first 4-digit remote code you circled from the Code List. The red light will turn off after the fourth digit is entered.
- Point the remote at the device and test the buttons. If the device does not respond correctly, return to Step 2 and use the next code you circled for that device.
- Repeat steps 1-5 for each device you wish to control.
Programming Notes
- Some codes may only operate a few functions. Try other codes from the Code List for more functionality.
- If no code works or is available for your device, use the Auto Code Search method.
- For combo devices (e.g., TV/DVD), you may need to program separate codes for each part (e.g., one for TV, one for DVD using the [Blu-ray Button]).
- Write down the codes used for future reference.
Auto Code Search
This method searches through all stored codes to find one for your device. It's recommended to read all steps before starting.
- Manually turn on the device you wish to control. (Note: This method cannot be used for devices without power on/off capability; use Direct Code Entry in those cases).
- Press and hold the [Setup Button] until the red indicator light turns on. Release the button; the light will remain on.
- Press and release the appropriate device button (e.g., [TV Button], [Stream Button]). The red light will blink once and remain on.
- Point the remote at the device and press the [Power Button]. The remote will send 10 different codes. The red light will blink once for each code and remain on after sending all 10.
- Did the device turn off?
- If YES, proceed to Step 5.
- If NO, repeat Step 4 to test the next 10 codes.
- Manually turn the device back on.
- Point the remote at the device and press the [Volume Up Button]. The remote will resend the first code from the previous batch of 10. The red light will blink once and remain on.
- Did the device turn off?
- If YES, you have found a code. Press and release the same device button used in Step 3 to store the code. Proceed to Step 7.
- If NO, continue pressing and releasing the [Volume Up Button] until the device turns off, testing the remaining 9 codes from Step 4. Wait approximately 3 seconds after each press for the device to respond. Once the device turns off, press and release the same device button used in Step 3 to store the code. Proceed to Step 7.
Special Notes:
- The [Volume Down Button] can be used to go backward through batches of 10 codes.
- The red indicator light will flash twice after testing the first or last code in each batch of 10.
- Use the remote to turn the device back on. Test buttons to ensure proper response. If buttons don't work, return to Step 2 to search for a better code.
- Repeat this process for each device you wish to control.
Controlling Combo Devices
For combo devices (e.g., TV/VCR, TV/DVD), you may need to program two different device buttons to control both parts. For example, a TV/DVD combo might require one code under the [TV Button] for the TV and a separate code under the [Blu-ray Button] for the DVD.
Favorites Function
Allows programming up to 10 favorite channels for quick access.
Setup Favorite Channels
- Press and release the device button (e.g., [TV Button], [CBL Button]). The indicator light will blink once. (Note: Select the device button that controls the channels, e.g., the Cable Box button for cable channels).
- Press and hold the [Setup Button] until the red indicator light turns on. Release the button; the light will remain on.
- Press and release the [Favorites Button]. The red indicator will blink once and remain on.
- Press and release the numerical button (0-9) you will use to store your favorite channel. The red indicator will blink once and remain on.
- Enter the channel number you wish to program (e.g., channel 4, 21, 4-1, 52-2).
- Press and release the [Favorites Button]. The red indicator light will turn off. Your favorite channel is now saved.
- Repeat this process for up to 10 favorite channels.
Using Favorite Function
- Press and release the [Favorites Button]. The red indicator light will turn on.
- Press and release the programmed button (0-9) for your favorite channel. The red indicator will blink twice, and the remote will send the code for the pre-programmed channel.
