Controller Overview
The 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ is a Bluetooth gamepad designed for versatile use across multiple platforms. The controller features a D-pad, analog sticks, face buttons (X, Y, A, B), shoulder buttons (L, L2, R, R2), Start, Select, Home, and Pair buttons.
Power On/Off: Press the Start button to turn on the controller. Hold the Start button for 3 seconds to turn it off.
LED Indicators: The power LED indicates the controller's status. The status LEDs indicate the number of connected players, with up to 8 players supported.
Connectivity and Setup
Nintendo Switch
Bluetooth Connection:
- Press and hold Y + Start to turn on the controller. The LED will rotate.
- For the first-time connection, hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will briefly stop rotating and then resume.
- On your Switch, navigate to Controllers > Change Grip/Order.
- The LED will become solid when the connection is successful.
Wired Connection:
- Ensure "Pro Controller Wired Communication" is enabled in your Switch settings.
- Press and hold Y + Start to turn on the controller.
- Connect the controller to the Switch dock's USB port. The controller will be recognized by the system.
Note: Motion controls, NFC scanning, IR camera, HD rumble, and notification LEDs are not supported on Switch. The system cannot be woken up wirelessly.
Windows
Required System: Windows 10 (1903) or above.
Bluetooth Connection:
- Press and hold X + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st and 2nd LEDs will blink.
- For the first-time connection, hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate.
- On your Windows device, go to Bluetooth settings, turn it on, and pair with "8BitDo SN30 Pro+". The LED will become solid upon successful connection.
Wired Connection:
- Press and hold X + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st and 2nd LEDs will blink.
- Connect the controller to a USB port on your Windows device. The controller will be recognized by the system.
Android
Required System: Android 9.0 or above.
Bluetooth Connection:
- Press and hold B + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st LED will blink.
- For the first-time connection, hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate.
- On your Android device, go to Bluetooth settings, and pair with "8BitDo SN30 Pro+". The LED will become solid upon successful connection.
Wired Connection:
- Your Android device must support OTG. Contact your manufacturer for details.
- Press and hold B + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st LED will blink.
- Connect the controller to the USB port of your Android device. The controller will be recognized by the system.
Apple Devices
Required System: iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, tvOS 16.3, macOS 13.2 or above.
Bluetooth Connection:
- Press and hold B + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st LED will blink.
- For the first-time connection, hold the Pair button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate.
- On your Apple device, go to Bluetooth settings, and pair with "8BitDo SN30 Pro+". The LED will become solid upon successful connection.
Wired Connection:
- USB wired connection is supported only for macOS or iPadOS devices with USB-C ports.
- Press and hold B + Start to turn on the controller. The 1st LED will blink.
- Connect the controller to the USB port of your Apple device. The controller will be recognized by the system.
Features
Turbo Function
The Home LED blinks continuously when a button with turbo functionality is pressed. The Star button functions as a screenshot button when connected to Nintendo Switch.
Note: D-pad, joysticks, Home, Select, and Start buttons do not support the turbo function.
To activate/deactivate the turbo function for a button: Hold the desired button, then press the Star button.
Battery
The controller has a 1000mAh built-in rechargeable battery pack providing approximately 20 hours of playtime. Charging takes about 4 hours.
Alternatively, the controller can be powered by AA batteries, also providing approximately 20 hours of playtime.
Battery Status Indicators:
- Low Battery: Red LED blinks.
- Charging: Red LED stays solid.
- Fully Charged: Red LED turns off.
Power Management: The controller will automatically turn off after 1 minute of no connection or 15 minutes of inactivity when connected via Bluetooth. It remains on during wired connections.
Ultimate Software
The Ultimate Software allows for advanced customization of the controller, including button mapping, stick and trigger sensitivity adjustments, vibration control, and macro creation.
Users can create and switch between controller profiles.
