Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series Quick Start Guide
Your Phone
The Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series features a handset, a screen, a keypad, and various buttons for different functions. A diagram illustrates the phone's layout with numbered callouts.
Phone Components:
- 1. Incoming call or voicemail indicator: Visual alert for calls or messages.
- 2. Camera: (Available on Cisco IP Phone 8845 and 8865) For video calls.
- 3. Feature and session buttons: Buttons on the left side for line access and features; buttons on the right side for session tasks.
- 4. Softkeys: Context-sensitive buttons below the screen.
- 5. Back, Navigation cluster, and Release: Buttons for navigation and returning to previous screens.
- 6. Hold, Transfer, and Conference: Dedicated buttons for call management.
- 7. Headset, Speakerphone, and Mute: Buttons for audio input/output control.
- 8. Voicemail, Applications, and Directory: Buttons to access voicemail, applications menu, and contacts.
- 9. Volume: Controls for adjusting audio levels.
Making and Managing Calls
Make a Call
Enter a number and pick up the handset.
Answer a Call
Press the flashing amber line button.
Put a Call on Hold
- Press the [Hold] button.
- To resume a held call, press the [Hold] button again.
Transfer a Call to Another Person
- From a call that is not on hold, press the [Transfer] button.
- Enter the other person's phone number.
- Press the [Transfer] button again.
Add Another Person to a Call
- From a connected call that is not on hold, press the [Conference] button.
- Press Active calls to select a held call.
- Press the [Conference] button again.
Using Headset, Speakerphone, and Mute
Make a Call with a Headset
- Plug in a headset.
- Enter a number using the keypad.
- Press the [Headset] button.
Make a Call with the Speakerphone
- Enter a number using the keypad.
- Press the [Speakerphone] button.
Mute Your Audio
- Press the [Mute] button.
- Press the [Mute] button again to turn mute off.
Video Controls
Stop Your Video
(Available on Cisco IP Phone 8845 and 8865 only.)
- Turn the camera shutter counterclockwise to stop your video.
- Turn the camera shutter clockwise to start your video.
Voice Messages and Call Forwarding
Listen to Your Voice Messages
Press the [Messages] button and follow the voice prompts. To check messages for a specific line, press the line button first.
Forward All Calls
- Select a line and press [Forward all].
- Dial the number you want to forward to, or press [Voicemail].
- To receive calls again, press [Forward off].
Settings and Customization
Adjust the Volume in a Call
Press the Volume [Volume +] or [Volume -] buttons left or right to adjust the handset, headset, or speakerphone volume when the phone is in use.
Adjust the Ringtone Volume
Press the Volume [Volume +] or [Volume -] buttons left or right to adjust the ringer volume when the phone is not in use.
Change the Ringtone
- Press the [Applications] button.
- Select Settings > Ringtone.
- Select a line.
- Scroll through the list of ringtones and press Play to hear a sample.
- Press Set and Apply to save a selection.
Adjust the Screen Brightness
- Press the [Applications] button.
- Select Settings > Brightness.
- Press the Navigation cluster left to decrease, or right to increase, the brightness.
- Press Save.
Change the Font Size
- Press the [Applications] button.
- Select Settings > Font Size.
- Select a font size.
- Press Save.
Pair a Mobile Device
(Available on Cisco IP Phone 8851, 8861, and 8865 only.)
- Put your mobile device in discoverable mode.
- On your IP Phone, press the [Applications] button.
- Select Bluetooth > Add Bluetooth.
- Select your mobile device from the available devices list to pair.
- Verify the passkey on your mobile device and your IP Phone.
- When prompted to save mobile contacts, choose to make your mobile device contacts and call history available on your IP Phone.
