Mac Pro

Nearly twice as fast as before, the new Mac Pro is based on next-generation Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Nehalem" processors and a high-performance system architecture. Featuring 8MB of fully-shared L3 cache and an integrated memory controller with three channels of 1066MHz DDR3 ECC memory for greater memory bandwidth and lower memory latency. The Mac Pro is available in both quad-core and 8-core configurations, and can be configured (via Configure-to-Order online ordering, CTO) with processors up to 2.93GHz. Quad-core Mac Pro systems start with 3GB of memory and support up to 8GB, while 8-core systems begin with 6GB and support up to 32GB of memory. All new graphics cards are available from both ATI and NVIDIA, starting with the high-performance NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB of GDDR3 memory and a Mini DisplayPort and dual-link DVI port. For faster graphics performance, the ATI Radeon HD 4870 is available with 512MB of GDDR5 memory. A redesigned interior makes it even easier to add memory, expansion cards, and hard drives. All Mac Pro systems feature four 3.5" hard drive bays with cable-free direct-attach drive carriers. Included is a 640GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s 7200-rpm hard drive, and the system is configurable with up to 4TB of internal storage. The all-new optional Mac Pro RAID card adds added data protection and performance when configured with multiple hard drives. A 18x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) is standard in all systems, and Mac Pro can be configured with up to two 18x SuperDrive optical drives. All systems include a double-wide PCI Express 2.0 graphics slot and three full-length PCI Express 2.0 expansion slots. Bluetooth 2.1+EDR is standard for connection to a wireless keyboard, mouse or other Bluetooth enabled device. All Mac Pro systems also include: four FireWire 800 ports and five USB 2.0 ports. Networking includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and an optional internal AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi card with 802.11n, Audio support includes optical digital input/output, analog line-level input/output, front headphone minijack, and speaker. Xserve

Xserve features the Intel Xeon "Nehalem" architecture and is design to deliver up to 2x performance over the previous generation Xserve in an power-efficient 1U rack-optimized enclosure. The new Xserve offers one or two Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5500 processors with 8MB of fully shared L3 cache, a three-channel integrated memory controller with six 1066MHz DDR3 ECC DIMM slots per processor, Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading. Xserve can be configured (via configure-to-order "CTO" online ordering) with two 2.26, 2.66 or 2.93GHz quad-core Intel Xeon 5500-series processors, an optional 128GB Solid-State Drive (SSD) boot drive option, and an internal RAID Card featuring 512MB of RAID cache and a 72-hour cache battery backup. Xserve systems feature three Apple Drive Module expansion bays which can support Serial ATA (SATA) as well as high-performance 15,000-rpm Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives and two PCI Express 2.0 x16 expansion slots. The base configuration comes with 3GB (3x1GB) of memory, one quad-core 2.26GHz Intel Xeon 5500 processor, a single 160GB SATA Apple Drive Module, a 8x SuperDrive (DVD+RW/CD-RW) optical drive, and a single 750W power supply which can be upgraded to dual-redundant power supplies via CTO. Apple Professional Services Offerings

The annual consultant position provides augmentation for customer's staff. As a senior position, the Apple Professional Services Consultant is first a diplomat ready to work with a diverse, cross-functional team while also providing either education curriculum and administrative expertise, deployment services expertise, or technical systems infrastructure expertise. The unique and specific needs of the customer will be first and foremost addressed by this full-time, focused consultant.

Technician services, provided on-site or via remote access, are available for installation and configuration of desktop and notebook computers and file and print servers in Open Directory environments only. Cross-platform client and server integration is not included.

Apple Professional Services consultants provide curriculum and leadership workshops, logistical and tactical project coordination, and architectural design, configuration and consulting. The Remote Educator Technology Profile is a remote service that produces data for school sites to assess their future training needs.

Software Engineers provide development services for a variety of Apple core technologies such as AppleScript, UNIX Shell scripting, Java, WebObjects, web design, database integration, LDAP schema modifications, etc.

Buy the appropriate Enrollment Kit for each computer to be covered by the AppleCare Protection Plan. Each Kit includes an AppleCare Protection Plan CD, a Getting Started Guide, the plan's Terms and Conditions, and instructions for registering the computer for coverage. Coverage is not activated until after you enroll. Coverage for an Apple display is provided for Mac mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pro customers provided the computer and the display were purchased at the same time and covered under the same plan.
