Installation Overview
The installation involves two main phases: Bumper Removal and Towbar Installation.
Bumper Removal Steps:
- Remove inner covers and light clusters to access hidden fixings.
- Remove bumper fixings around wheel arches and along the lower edge.
- Pull bumper outwards and rearwards to disconnect wiring looms.
Towbar Installation Steps:
- Access chassis mounting points by removing boot carpets.
- Remove and discard the rear crash beam, ensuring all fixings are refitted securely.
- Attach side arms (Item B) to chassis members using specified bolts and washers (Items E, G).
- Mount the main crossmember (Item A) between the side arms using bolts and washers (Items F, H).
- Attach the detachable housing (Item C) and socket plate (Item D) to the crossmember using bolts and washers (Items J, K, H).
- Ensure all fixings are fully tightened for rigidity and security.
- Refit the rear bumper.
Important Notes
Torque Settings: Recommended torque for M12 Grade 10.9 bolts is 139 Nm. Refer to overleaf notes for other settings.
