4. Test Data
4.1 Test Scenario
Network Topology: A diagram illustrates the connection between a Cisco C9500-24Y4C switch, an FS QSFP-SR4-40G transceiver, an Intel E810-CQDA2 Network Interface Card (NIC), and an FS RS7260 server via optical fiber.
Interoperability Test Scenario: An image shows a server rack populated with networking equipment, including multiple switches and servers, set up for interoperability testing.
Test Premise:
- Confirm the brand, quantity, and placement of the switches to be tested.
- Prepare control cables, test software, and optical fiber patch cords. Power on the switches in advance.
- Locate the Console port on the switch (typically marked "CON", "IOIOI", or with a computer monitor icon). Connect the switch to a computer using a control cable.
- Before connecting the software, verify the connection port in the computer's device manager (Ports COM and LPT).
Test Method:
Use SecureCRT Portable software to establish a quick connection. Configure the settings as follows:
- Protocol selection: Serial
- Port selection: Match the port identified in the previous step.
- Baud rate selection: Match the baud rate of the target switch's port.
- Flow control: Do not check this option.
- Other configurations can remain at default values.
4.2 Test Result
Test Steps:
- Insert the module into the appropriate switch port. Connect TX-RX ends with an optical fiber jumper or MTP self-loop device. Verify connection status. If not connected, check jumper connections or switch port configuration.
- Log in to the switch using the test interface, account, and password, then enter privileged mode.
- Execute relevant switch commands to view port status (connectivity, connection rate, alarm status), module basic information, and DDM information to ensure requirements are met.
Switch Port Status:
The Cisco IOS XE Software version is 17.12.03. The switch interfaces status shows many ports as 'notconnect'. Ports Hu1/0/25 and Hu1/0/26 are reported as 'connected', 'full' duplex, with '40G QSFP 40G SR4 SFP' speed and type.
NIC Port Status:
The NIC ports (ens2f0np0 and ens2f1np1) support various link modes including 25000baseCR/Full and 100000baseSR4/Full. They operate at 'Speed: 10000Mb/s', 'Duplex: Full', with 'Auto-negotiation: off', and 'Link detected: yes'.
Module Basic Information from Switch:
- Port Hu1/0/25: Name: Hu1/0/25, Administrative Speed: 40000, Administrative Duplex: full, Operational Speed: 40000, Operational Duplex: full, Media Type: QSFP 40G SR4 SFP.
- Port Hu1/0/26: Name: Hu1/0/26, Administrative Speed: 40000, Administrative Duplex: full, Operational Speed: 40000, Operational Duplex: full, Media Type: QSFP 40G SR4 SFP.
Module Basic Information from NIC:
For the NIC, the module identifier is QSFP+. The transceiver type is 40G Base-SR4, using 850 nm VCSEL technology with a wavelength of 850.000nm. The vendor is FS, with part number QSFP-SR4-40G. Module temperature is around 31.86-32.69°C, voltage is approximately 3.2850-3.3390 V. Laser bias currents are around 6.4-6.5 mA. Transmit optical power is approximately -0.7 to -0.9 dBm. Receive optical power for Channel 1 is around 0.1-0.8 dBm, while Channels 2-4 show very low readings (-40.00 dBm). Various alarm/warning flags are reported as 'Off' or 'On' for bias current, temperature, voltage, and transmit/receive power.
DDM Information:
Detailed Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) information is provided for ports Hu1/0/25 and Hu1/0/26. This includes temperature, voltage, laser bias current, and transmit/receive optical power readings, along with their respective high/low alarm and warning thresholds. For example, for Hu1/0/25, temperature is 34.6°C, voltage is 3.37V, bias currents are around 6.4-6.5 mA, transmit power is around -0.7 to -0.9 dBm, and receive power is around 0.1 to 0.6 dBm for Channel 1, with very low readings for Channels 2-4.
