HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY
Electrical Requirements & Grounding
Grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock in case of malfunction or breakdown. The appliance must be connected to a cord with an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug, inserted into an appropriately installed and grounded outlet according to local codes and ordinances.
[DANGER] Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. The equipment grounding conductor is identified by insulation that is green with or without yellow stripes. If the cord or plug needs repair or replacement, do not connect the equipment-grounding conductor to a live terminal. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if grounding instructions are not fully understood or if in doubt. Do not modify the plug if it does not fit the outlet; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120V supply circuit and should be connected to a grounding outlet. The use of a temporary adapter is not recommended.
[Illustration Description: A three-prong electrical plug is shown next to a standard three-slot grounded electrical outlet.]
Set Up & Use
Power Supply Cord
- Avoid using an extension cord due to potential safety hazards. Have a qualified electrician install an outlet near the appliance.
- If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, exercise extreme care:
- Use only a grounding type 3-wire extension cord with a 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot receptacle compatible with the appliance's plug.
- The extension cord's electrical rating must equal or exceed the appliance's rating. Arrange the cord so it does not drape where it can be pulled on by children or cause tripping.
NOTE: BLACK+DECKER and the dealer are not liable for damage or injury resulting from failure to observe electrical connection procedures.
Installation Instructions
[WARNING] Electrical Shock Hazard: Disconnect electrical power before installing the dishwasher. Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.
[CAUTION] Installation of pipes and electrical equipment should be done by professionals.
Position the dishwasher near the existing inlet and drain hoses and power cord. Choose a side of the cabinet sink for easier connection of drain hoses. Place the appliance with its back against the wall and sides against adjacent cabinets or walls. The dishwasher is equipped with water supply and drain hoses that can be positioned left or right for easier installation.
[WARNING] DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION CORD OR AN ADAPTER PLUG WITH THIS APPLIANCE. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CUT OR REMOVE THE GROUND CONNECTION FROM THE POWER CORD.
[WARNING] RISK OF FIRE: Ensure the plug fits tightly into the wall outlet. If the plug is loose, do not use it; have a licensed electrician replace the receptacle.

Your dishwasher includes a 'quick connect' assembly for inlet and drain hoses. A faucet adapter must be installed on the faucet before connecting the dishwasher. This adapter is included and is compatible with faucets having male (outside) or female (inside) threaded connections.
[Illustration Description: Diagram of the rear of the dishwasher showing connections for Drain Port, Inlet Port, Inlet House Connection, and Drain House Connection. A separate diagram shows the Faucet Adapter with a Quick Connect fitting, Pressure Relief Button (red), and Inlet Connection.]
[WARNING] To prevent excess water in the inlet hose, close the faucet after use.
- Screw the faucet adapter onto the faucet tap. Check for leaks and use Teflon tape if necessary.
- Connect the six-sided connection of the drain hose to the drain port on the back of the dishwasher cabinet. Do not over-tighten.
- Connect the star-shaped connection of the inlet hose to the inlet port on the back of the dishwasher cabinet. Do not over-tighten.
- Connect the circular connection of the drain hose to the longer (bottom) male connection on the quick connect.
- Connect the circular connection of the inlet hose to the shorter (top) male connection on the quick connect.
- Attach the quick connect onto the faucet adapter by pulling down the outer locking collar and pushing the quick connect upward onto the adapter.
- When the quick connect snaps onto the faucet adapter, release the locking collar and verify the connection is secure.
- Slowly open the hot water line and check all hose connections for leaks. If leaks are found, immediately close the water supply and repair the connections.
Disconnecting the Quick Connect Assembly
- Turn off the hot water.
- Relieve water pressure from the quick connect assembly by pressing the red pressure relief button before disconnecting from the faucet.
- Depress the locking collar and remove the quick connect from the faucet.
Connect the Drain Hose
Insert the end of the drain hose into the drain outlet at the back of the unit. Position the other end using one of the following methods:
- A. Over the edge of a wash basin: Secure the guide to the basin wall with a hook or string to prevent the hose from moving.
- B. In a laundry tub: The laundry tub should not be higher than 39 inches (100cm). Wash basins should also not exceed 39 inches (100cm).
- C. In a standpipe: The standpipe should not be longer than 39 inches (100cm).
- D. Into a drain pipe: Insert the drain hose into a drain pipe with a minimum diameter of 1.5 inches (4 cm).
[Illustration Description: Diagrams A, B, C, and D show different methods for positioning the drain hose: A over a sink edge with a hose retainer and string, B into a laundry tub, C into a standpipe, and D into a drain pipe with dimensions noted. A diagram of the rear of the dishwasher shows the drain hose and water inlet with dimensions for the drain pipe connection.]
NOTE: Avoid bending or crimping the drain hose. The free end of the hose must not be immersed in water to avoid backflow. If a drain hose extension is needed, use a similar hose no longer than 13 feet (4 meters), otherwise the dishwasher may not drain properly.
Important Notes on Operation
- Once the water supply line is opened, the inlet hose will be pressurized.
- To relieve water pressure from the inlet hose (with the faucet closed), press and hold the red pressure relief button on the quick connect until water stops flowing.
[WARNING] FAILURE TO RELIEVE WATER PRESSURE BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE QUICK-CONNECT FROM THE FAUCET WILL RESULT IN BACK-PRESSURE OVER-SPRAY. THE TEMPERATURE OF INCOMING WATER CAN BE VERY HOT, AND BACK-PRESSURE OVER-SPRAY COULD CAUSE SEVERE BURNS AND/OR SCALDING.
[DANGER] DO NOT LET CHILDREN DISCONNECT THE DISHWASHER. CLOSE SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT AROUND APPLIANCES.
NOTE: Hard water conditions can adversely affect washing performance and cause lime/scaling deposits. To minimize this, it is recommended to periodically rinse the inside of the dishwasher (empty) with 1 cup of white vinegar weekly.
Disconnecting Your Dishwasher
- Shut off the water supply at the faucet.
- Disconnect the power supply cord.
Starting the Dishwasher

[Illustration Description: A diagram showing the inside of the dishwasher door with the Rinse Aid Reservoir Cap and Rinse Aid Indicator.]
[WARNING] Only use branded rinse aid for dishwashers. Never use other substances (e.g., liquid detergent or soap), as this can damage the appliance.
Refilling the Rinse Aid Dispenser
The Rinse Aid symbol on the control panel indicates when a refill is needed. If the warning light is not illuminated, you can check the level via the indicator next to the cap. The circular indicator is dark when full and decreases as the rinse aid diminishes. Never let the rinse aid level drop below 1/4 full.
[Illustration Description: Visual representation of rinse aid levels: Full, 3/4 full, 1/2 full, 1/4 full, Empty.]
To fill:
- Rotate the rinse aid reservoir cap counterclockwise to remove it.
- Carefully pour rinse aid into the dispenser, avoiding overflow.
- Rotate the cap clockwise to close.
Note: Clean any spilled rinse aid to prevent excessive foaming.
The rinse aid dispenser has four settings (1-4). Setting "1" uses the least rinse aid, and "4" uses the most. The recommended setting is "3". Adjust higher if dishes are not drying properly or are spotted. Adjust lower if there are sticky white stains or a bluish film on glassware/silverware.
[Illustration Description: A dial with settings 1, 2, 3, 4 labeled "Adjust lever (Rinse)".]
Detergent Dispenser
The dispenser must be refilled before each wash cycle. Follow the detergent manufacturer's recommendations. Add detergent just before starting the dishwasher, as it can become damp and not dissolve properly.
[Illustration Description: A diagram showing the detergent dispenser cover opening with a latch, and the dispenser compartments.]
To fill, press the release catch to open the cover. Add detergent to the larger compartment for the main wash cycle. For heavily soiled dishes, add detergent to the smaller compartment for the pre-wash cycle. Close the cover and press the release catch until it locks.
Before Loading Your Dishwasher
Recommendations:
- Wash items identified as dishwasher-safe.
- For delicate items, select the lowest possible temperature program.
- To prevent damage, do not remove glass and cutlery immediately after the program ends.
Do Not Wash the Following Items:
- Cutlery with wooden, horn china, or mother-of-pearl handles.
- Plastic items not heat resistant.
- Older cutlery with glued parts not temperature resistant.
- Bonded cutlery items or dishes.
- Pewter or copper items.
- Crystal glass.
- Steel items subject to rusting.
- Wooden platters.
- Items made from synthetic fibers.
Notes:
- Some glasses can become dull after many washes.
- Silver and aluminum parts may discolor during washing.
- Glazed patterns may fade if machine washed frequently.
Adjusting the Racks
The height of the upper rack can be adjusted to accommodate taller dishes in either the upper or lower rack.
[Illustration Description: Diagrams showing the upper rack in a lower position and an upper position, with arrows indicating how to pull it out and reinsert it by aligning rollers.]
To raise the rack from the lower position, pull it out and remove it. Align the rollers as shown to reinsert and push in.
The tines can be folded to make room for larger items, or removed when not in use.
Loading the Dishwasher
Scrape off large amounts of leftover food. Soften remnants of burnt food in pans. Rinsing dishes under running water is not necessary.
Load the dishwasher as follows:
- Place cups, glasses, pots/pans, etc., face down.
- Load curved items or those with recesses at a slant for water drainage.
- Stack utensils securely so they cannot tip over.
- Position utensils so spray arms can rotate freely.
- Load hollow items (cups, glasses, pans) with the opening downwards to prevent water collection.
- Dishes and cutlery should not lie inside or cover each other.
- Ensure glasses do not touch each other to prevent damage.
- Load items most difficult to clean into the bottom rack.
[CAUTION] Long and/or sharp cutlery, such as carving knives, must be positioned horizontally in the basket. Knives with long blades loaded upright are a potential hazard.
When loading dishes, pull out the upper rack sufficiently to avoid striking the counter. The upper rack is designed for small plates, mugs, and glasses. For several small plates, load them in two half rows, with the front of each plate facing the back of the plate in front, and open sides facing each other in the center.
[Illustration Description: Diagrams showing recommended loading for the Top Rack and Bottom Rack.]
Dinner plates, soup bowls, pots, lids, and casserole dishes should be loaded in the bottom rack. Load large items like pots and pans with their open sides facing downwards.
Silverware Basket:
[CAUTION] Long and/or sharp items of cutlery such as carving knives must be positioned horizontally in the basket. Knives with long blades loaded in an upright position are a potential hazard.
Unloading the Dishwasher
[WARNING] DO NOT LET ANY ITEM EXTEND THROUGH THE BOTTOM. ALWAYS LOAD SHARP UTENSILS WITH THE SHARP POINT DOWN!
To prevent water from dripping from the upper basket into the lower basket, unload the lower basket first, followed by the upper basket.
[WARNING] Items will be hot. To prevent injury, do not remove items until approximately 15 minutes after the wash program has ended.
Cleaning & Care
Filtering System
The filter prevents large food remnants or objects from entering the pump. The system has a coarse filter, a main filter, and a fine filter.
- Coarse Filter: Traps larger items like bone or glass that could block the drain. Gently squeeze the tap on top to remove items.
- Main Filter: Food and soil particles are pulverized by a spray arm jet and washed down the drain.
- Fine Filter: Holds soil and food residue in the sump area, preventing deposition on dishes.
Note: Images are for illustration purposes only and may differ slightly by model.
[Illustration Description: A diagram showing the three filter components: Coarse filter, Main filter, and Fine filter.]
Filter Assembly
The filter assembly efficiently removes food particles from wash water. For best performance, clean it regularly. Remove larger food particles after each wash cycle by rinsing the filter and cup under running water. Lift out the filter assembly to remove it.
[WARNING] Never run the dishwasher without filters in place. Improper filter replacement can reduce performance and damage dishes.
[Illustration Description: Diagrams showing how to rotate the filter assembly counterclockwise to unlock and lift out, then detach the coarse filter from the main filter by squeezing tabs.]
Remove any food particles and clean filters by rinsing under running water. A soft brush can be used if needed.
Replace the filter assembly in reverse order. Re-insert the entire assembly, positioning it in its seat, and rotating clockwise until it locks. Check filters for clogs and debris after each use.
[WARNING] Handle filters carefully when cleaning. Damaged or dented filters can affect performance.
NOTE: The entire filter assembly should be cleaned once a week.
Caring for the Dishwasher
The control panel can be cleaned with a lightly dampened cloth and dried thoroughly. Never use sharp objects, scouring pads, or harsh cleaners.
Cleaning the Door
To clean the edge around the door, use only a soft, warm, damp cloth. Avoid penetration of water into the door lock and electrical components; do not use spray cleaners.
[WARNING] Never use a spray cleaner on the door panel, as it may damage the door lock and electrical components. Abrasive agents or paper towels should not be used due to the risk of scratching or leaving spots on the stainless steel surface.
Protect Against Freezing
Take frost protection measures in winter. After each washing cycle:
- Cut off electrical power.
- Turn off the water supply and disconnect the water inlet pipe from the water valve.
- Drain water from the inlet pipe and water valve (use a pan to catch water).
- Reconnect the water inlet pipe to the water valve.
- Remove the filter at the bottom of the tub and use a sponge to soak up any remaining water in the sump.
NOTE: If the dishwasher cannot work due to ice, contact professional service persons.
NOTE: If the dishwasher is not operating due to ice or frost accumulation, please call for service.
Cleaning the Spray Arms
The spray arms can be removed for periodic cleaning of nozzles to prevent clogging. Wash them under running water and replace them carefully in their seats, ensuring their rotation is not impeded. Grasp the middle of the spray arm and pull upwards to remove. Wash under running water and return carefully. After reassembly, check that they are installed correctly and turn freely.
[Illustration Description: A diagram showing the spray arm removal and cleaning.]
Maintaining the Dishwasher
- After each wash, turn off the water supply and leave the door slightly open to prevent moisture and odors.
- Before cleaning or maintenance, always remove the plug from the socket.
- To clean the exterior and rubber parts, use a cloth with warm soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners. For interior spots or stains, use a cloth dampened with water and a little vinegar, or a specific dishwasher cleaning product.
- It is recommended to run an empty wash cycle, then remove the plug, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly open. This helps door seals last longer and prevents odors.
- If the appliance must be moved, try to keep it vertical. If necessary, it can be positioned on its back.
- Food trapped in seals can cause odors. Periodic cleaning with a damp sponge will prevent this.
