Beurer PO 60 Pulse Oximeter

Thank you for choosing a Beurer product. This guide provides instructions for the PO 60 Pulse Oximeter, designed for measuring arterial oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and heart rate (pulse rate) in humans. It is suitable for private and medical use.

1. Included in Delivery

2. Intended Use

The Beurer PO 60 pulse oximeter is intended for non-invasive measurement of arterial oxygen saturation (SpO₂) and heart rate (pulse rate) in humans. It is suitable for both home and medical sector use.

3. Getting to Know Your Device

The pulse oximeter uses two light rays of differing wavelengths to measure oxygen saturation and heart rate. Low oxygen saturation may indicate underlying illnesses. Symptoms of low oxygen saturation can include shortness of breath, increased heart rate, weakness, nervousness, and sweating. Consult a doctor immediately if you experience acutely diminished oxygen saturation. This device is beneficial for individuals at risk, such as those with heart disease or asthma, as well as athletes and healthy individuals at high altitudes.

4. Signs and Symbols

5. Warnings and Safety Notes

Read these instructions carefully to avoid personal injury or material damage. Ensure the package contents are complete and check the device for visible damage before use. Do not use the device if it is damp, on small children or babies, during MRI/CT scans, while taking a blood pressure measurement on the same arm, on fingers with nail varnish, dirt, or plasters, on fingers that are too large or too small, on patients with trembling, or near flammable gases. Prolonged use may cause discomfort for individuals with circulatory disorders; limit use to approximately 2 hours per finger. The device provides instantaneous measurements and is not for continuous monitoring. It does not have an alarm function. Do not self-diagnose or self-medicate. Avoid looking directly into the housing during measurement as the light can be harmful to your eyes. Supervise children around the device. Ensure fingers are clean and nails are short. Keep your hand and body steady during measurement. Measurements may be incorrect for individuals with cardiac arrhythmia, carbon monoxide poisoning, low blood pressure, jaundice, or those taking medication for vascular contraction. Medical dyes or abnormal haemoglobin levels can also affect accuracy. Protect the device from dust, shocks, moisture, extreme temperatures, and explosive materials.

Notes on handling batteries:

Function Button Functions:

Note: The display automatically orients itself (vertical/horizontal) for easy reading.

9. System Requirements for the App „beurer HealthManager“

10. Transfer of Measured Values via Bluetooth® Low Energy Technology

Ensure Bluetooth® is activated (ON) on both your smartphone and the pulse oximeter, and that the „beurer HealthManager“ app is open. For accurate data logging, connect the PO 60 to your smartphone before the first measurement. A PIN code will be displayed on the pulse oximeter for pairing.

Data Synchronization Options:

Note: Bluetooth® activation and app usage are required for data transfers. Time and date are synchronized with the smartphone during each transfer.

11. Evaluating Measurement Results

WARNING: The following evaluation table is not applicable to individuals with pre-existing conditions (e.g., asthma, heart failure, respiratory diseases) or those at altitudes above 1500 meters. Always consult your doctor for evaluation if you have pre-existing conditions.

SpO₂ (oxygen saturation) measurement in %Classification/measures to be taken
99-94Normal range
93-90Decreased range: Visit to the doctor recommended
< 90Critical range: Seek medical attention urgently

Decline in oxygen saturation depending on altitude:

Note: This table does not apply to individuals with pre-existing conditions. They may show signs of illness (e.g., hypoxia) at lower altitudes.

AltitudeExpected SpO₂ value (oxygen saturation) in %Impact on human body
1500-2500 m> 90No altitude sickness (normally)
2500-3000 m~90Altitude sickness, acclimatisation recommended

12. Maintenance/Cleaning

IMPORTANT: Do not use high-pressure sterilization. Do not immerse the pulse oximeter in water.

13. Storage

IMPORTANT: Store the pulse oximeter in a dry place (relative humidity ≤ 95%) with an ambient temperature between -40°C and 60°C. High humidity may shorten the service life or damage the device.

14. Disposal

Dispose of empty batteries through designated collection points or recycling centers. Do not dispose of batteries with household waste. Dispose of the device at a suitable local collection or recycling point in accordance with the EC Directive – WEEE. Contact local authorities for waste disposal information.
