Radionics D9412/D7412 Control/Communicator User's Guide Supplement

Introduction

This reference supplements the Security System Owner's Manual (71-06633-000) with the added command list features for the D9412/D7412. These flow charts will step you through the operation of the new features. Please refer to the Owner's Manual for the operation of your new security system and its other basic command list features.

Add/Change User Function

This function allows adding a passcode/card to your system without assistance from your security company. You need to know which user numbers are available, the authority level you want to assign to the new user, and the areas in which it will be valid before you add it. The D9412 has available up to 249 Users; the D7412 has available 99 Users.

Process Flow:

  • Start: From "IDLE TEXT", press the MENU key to enter the Function Menu (or press CMD 46 to go directly to ENTER USER #).
  • Navigate: Press NEXT until "ADD USER ?" appears.
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Enter User Number: Key in the desired user number.
  • Confirm User Number: Press ENTER.
  • User Number Display: "USER NUM: ###"
  • Decision Point: Check if the user number exists.
    • If User Number exists:
      • Prompt: "ADD PASSCODE ?"
      • Option: Press PREV to "CHANGE PASSCODE ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "ADD CARD ?"
      • Decision: If User Number exists, prompt "CHANGE CARD ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "ADD LEVEL ?"
      • Decision: If User Number exists, prompt "CHANGE LEVEL ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "SUB USER ID ?"
    • If New User Number:
      • Prompt: "ADD PASSCODE ?"
      • Option: Press PREV to "CHANGE PASSCODE ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "ADD CARD ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "ADD LEVEL ?"
      • Option: Press NEXT to "SUB USER ID ?"

Navigation Notes:

  • Pressing ESC returns the user to the "ENTER USER #" display prompt.
  • Pressing ESC again returns the user to the function menu.
  • Pressing PREV shows the previous User Number or User Name in the user list.
  • Pressing NEXT shows the next User Number or User Name in the user list.

User Passcode

This section details the process for adding or changing user passcodes.

Add Passcode:

  • If New User Number:
  • Prompt: "ADD PASSCODE ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "ENTER NEW CODE" - Key in passcode.
  • Display: "NEW CODE ********"
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Re-enter: "ENTER AGAIN"
  • Confirm Re-entry: Press ENTER.
  • Result: "PASSCODE ADDED"

Change Passcode:

  • If User Number Exists:
  • Prompt: "CHANGE PASSCODE ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "ENTER NEW CODE" - Key in new passcode.
  • Display: "NEW CODE ********"
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Re-enter: "ENTER AGAIN"
  • Confirm Re-entry: Press ENTER.
  • Result: "PASSCODE CHANGED"

Add Card

This section details the process for adding or changing user cards.

Add Card:

  • If New Card:
  • Prompt: "ADD CARD ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Action: "PRESENT CARD" - Card Presented at Reader.
  • Result: "CARD ADDED"

Change Card:

  • If Card Exists:
  • Prompt: "CHANGE CARD ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Action: "PRESENT CARD" - Card Presented at Reader.
  • Result: "CARD CHANGED"

Sub-User ID

This section details the process for assigning a Sub-User ID.

  • Prompt: "SUB USER ID ?"
  • Input: "SUB USER #?" - Key in 1, 2, or 3.
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Decision: If Sub User Number Exists.
  • Action: "PRESENT CARD" - Card Presented at Reader.
  • Result: "CARD ADDED" or "CARD CHANGED" (depending on context, though the diagram shows ADDED for both).

User Level

This section details the process for assigning user levels and area assignments.

Add User Level:

  • If New User Number:
  • Prompt: "VALID AREA #?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "AREA # #?" - Enter area numbers.
  • Action: "When all area assignments have been made"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Result: "LEVEL ADDED"

Change User Level:

  • If User Number Exists:
  • Prompt: "CHANGE LEVEL ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "AREA # #?" - Enter area numbers.
  • Action: "When all area assignments have been made"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Result: "LEVEL CHANGED"

Note: At the end of each function, the user may press the ESC key to return to the ENTER USER # prompt. To return to idle text, you must press the ESC key again.

Delete User Function

This function is used to delete users from the system. More information is provided during the process to ensure the correct user is deleted.

Process Flow:

  • Start: From "IDLE TEXT", press the MENU key to enter the Function Menu (or press CMD 53 to go directly to ENTER USER #).
  • Navigate: Press NEXT until "DELETE USER ?" appears.
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Enter User Number: Key in the user number to delete.
  • User Number Display: "USER NUM: ###"
  • Note: Display will show "NOT IN USE" if the user number is not in the system.
  • Navigate User List: Press PREV or NEXT to find the user.
  • Confirm Deletion: Prompt "DELETE USER ### ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Result: "USER DELETED" (with a 2-second timeout).

Navigation Notes:

  • Pressing ESC while within the DELETE USER function returns the user to the ENTER USER # display prompt.
  • Pressing ESC while at the ENTER USER # display prompt returns the user to the DELETE USER prompt in the function menu.

Access Level Control

This function allows manual enabling/disabling of access authority levels assigned to users. It can be used to temporarily disable a user's access level instead of deleting and adding the user.

Process Flow:

  • Start: From "IDLE TEXT", press the MENU key to enter the Function Menu.
  • Navigate: Press NEXT until "ACCESS LEVEL CTL" appears.
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Enter Level: Prompt "ENTER LEVEL: Enter Access Authority Level #".
  • Input Level Number: Press ENTER.
  • Decision Point: Check if Access Level is currently disabled or enabled.
    • If Access Level is currently disabled: Prompt "LEVEL # ENABLE?". Press ENTER to enable the level and return to the ENTER LEVEL prompt.
    • If Access Level is currently enabled: Prompt "LEVEL # DISABLE?". Press ENTER to disable the level and return to the ENTER LEVEL prompt.

Note: Pressing the ESC key twice will exit this function. After 20 seconds of inactivity, the system returns to idle text.

Door Control Function

To access the Door Control function, press COMMAND 46 or press the MENU key and the NEXT key until "DOOR CONTROL ?" appears, then press the ENT key. Three functions are nested inside: Cycle Door, Unlock Door, and Secure Door.

Main Navigation:

  • Start: From "IDLE TEXT", press the MENU key to enter the Function Menu (or press CMD 46 to go directly to CYCLE DOOR?).
  • Navigate: Press NEXT until "DOOR CONTROL ?" appears.
  • Confirm: Press ENTER.
  • Sub-function Selection:
    • Press PREV to select "CYCLE DOOR ?".
    • Press NEXT to select "UNLOCK DOOR ?".
    • Press NEXT again to select "SECURE DOOR ?".

Sub-function Details:

Cycle Door:

  • Prompt: "CYCLE DOOR ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "CYCLE 12345678" (See Note 2 for codes).
  • Navigation: Press ESC to return to the top-level display prompt for this sub-function.

Unlock Door:

  • Prompt: "UNLOCK DOOR ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "UNLOCK 12345678" (See Note 2 for codes).
  • Navigation: Press ESC to return to the top-level display prompt for this sub-function.

Secure Door:

  • Prompt: "SECURE DOOR ?"
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Input: "SECURE 12345678" (See Note 2 for codes).
  • Navigation: Press ESC to return to the top-level display prompt for this sub-function.

Note 2: Door Status Codes

  • #: Door is normal (available).
  • -: Door is not active, not in scope, or user does not have access level authority.
  • C: Door is on timed door sequence.
  • U: Strike and shunt are latched active (held open).
  • X: Strike and shunt are deactivated (secured).

Navigation Notes:

  • Pressing ESC while within any sub-function (CYCLE, UNLOCK, SECURE) returns the user to the top-level display prompt for that sub-function.
  • Pressing ESC at the top-level display prompt of any sub-function returns the user to the DOOR CONTROL ? prompt in the function menu.

Cycle Door Sub-Function

This function allows users to momentarily unlock the access door to allow a person entry. The duration the door remains unlocked is programmed by the security company.

Process Flow:

  • Start: Prompt "CYCLE DOOR ?"
  • Timeout: 20-second timeout, returns to "IDLE TEXT".
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Display: Shows the status of each door (e.g., "CYCLE 1234567C"). Note: Display replaces door number with "C" while door is open. Door number returns when door is closed and strike is deactivated.
  • Input: "Enter door # to cycle".
  • Decision: "Is door ready to cycle (i.e., not secured or unlocked)?"
    • No: Flow continues to "Display remains until another key is pressed".
    • Yes: Flow continues to the next step.
  • Navigation: Press NEXT for "UNLOCK DOOR ?", PREV for "SECURE DOOR ?".

Note: Pressing ESC at any point returns the user to the UNLOCK DOOR display prompt.

Unlock Door Sub-Function

This function allows users to keep the door unlocked for free access. It is used to lock the door back to normal operation.

Process Flow:

  • Start: Prompt "UNLOCK DOOR ?"
  • Timeout: 20-second timeout, returns to "IDLE TEXT".
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Display: "UNLOCK 12345678".
  • Input: "Enter door to unlock".
  • Decision: "Is door secured or not available to unlock?"
    • Yes: (relock door).
    • No: Proceed to next decision.
  • Decision: "Is door unlocked?"
    • Yes: (unlock door). Note: Display replaces door number with "U".
    • No: (unlock door). Note: Display replaces door number with "U".
  • Navigation: Press NEXT for "SECURE DOOR ?", PREV for "CYCLE DOOR ?".

Note: Display replaces door number with "U" when unlocked.

Secure Door Sub-Function

The Secure Door function prohibits access to users regardless of their access authority level.

Process Flow:

  • Start: Prompt "SECURE DOOR ?"
  • Timeout: 20-second timeout, returns to "IDLE TEXT".
  • Action: Press ENTER.
  • Display: "SECURE 12345678".
  • Input: "Enter door to secure".
  • Decision: "Is door available?"
    • Yes: Proceed to next decision.
    • No: (return door to normal). Note: Display replaces "X" with door number.
  • Decision: "Is door already secured?"
    • Yes: (return door to normal). Note: Display replaces "X" with door number.
    • No: (secure door). Note: Display replaces door number with "X".
  • Navigation: Press NEXT for "CYCLE DOOR ?", PREV for "UNLOCK DOOR ?".

Note: Display replaces door number with "X" when secured.
