Important Safety Instructions
All Operators Must Read These Instructions Before Use
Read all instructions before using this electric snow shovel. Basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury.
General Safety Warnings!
Operators must read, understand, and follow all instructions. Reread them at the start of each snow season. Failure to follow these instructions may result in ELECTRIC SHOCK, FIRE, and/or serious PERSONAL INJURY.
The personal safety alert symbol [safety-alert-symbol] indicates a WARNING requiring special ATTENTION, CAUTION, and AWARENESS.
- Keep work area clean and well lit.
- Use the right product for the intended job.
- Use only identical replacement parts. Replace or repair damaged cords immediately. Do not use on gravel surfaces unless adjusted per the manual.
- Keep children, bystanders, and pets away from the work area.
- Dress properly: avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Wear rubber boots. The shovel should not be operated in a handheld position unless specified.
- Avoid accidental starting: do not carry the shovel with a finger on the switch. Ensure the switch is off before plugging in.
If the cord is damaged, pull the extension cord from the wall receptacle.
- Keep hands and feet away from moving parts. Keep guards in place and working.
- CAUTION! Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling. Wear protective footwear for better footing.
- Use safety glasses, safety footwear, snug-fitting clothing, protective gloves, and hearing/head protection.
- Stay alert, use common sense. Do not operate when tired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Do not force the tool; it performs better and with less risk when used as designed.
- Do not overreach; maintain proper footing and balance.
- If the shovel strikes a foreign object: Stop the shovel, inspect for damage, and repair before restarting.
- Disconnect the tool from the power supply when not in use, before servicing, changing accessories, or performing maintenance.
- Store idle tools indoors in a dry, locked place out of reach of children.
- Maintain the electric snow shovel with care. Lubrication is not required.
The safety alert symbol [safety-alert-symbol] warns of potential personal injury hazards. Obey all safety messages following this symbol to avoid injury or death. Improper use or maintenance can lead to injury or death.
Electrical Safety
This electric snow shovel is double-insulated, meaning it uses two systems of insulation instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided, and none should be added. Servicing requires extreme care and knowledge, performed only by qualified personnel at an authorized dealer. Replacement parts must be identical.
A double-insulated appliance is marked with "Double Insulation" or "Double Insulated" and/or the symbol [square-within-a-square-symbol].
DOUBLE-INSULATED: GROUNDING NOT REQUIRED. WHEN SERVICING, USE ONLY IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT PARTS.
- Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protection should be provided on the circuit(s) or outlet(s). Receptacles with built-in GFCI protection are available.
- To prevent electric shock, use only extension cords suitable for outdoor use (e.g., SW-A, SOW-A, STW-A, STOW-A, SJW-A, SJOW-A, SJTW-A, or SJTOW-A). Check the cord for good condition. Use a cord heavy enough for the product's current draw; an undersized cord causes voltage drop, loss of power, and overheating.
WARNING! Electric shock may cause SEVERE INJURY or DEATH. Heed these warnings:
- Do not allow any part of the shovel to contact water during operation. If the appliance becomes wet while off, wipe dry before starting.
- Use only UL-, CSA-, or ETL-rated extension cords for outdoor, all-weather use.
- Do not use an extension cord over 100 ft (30 m).
- Do not touch the appliance or plug with wet hands or while standing in water. Wearing rubber boots offers some protection.
Extension Cord Length | Wire Gauge (A.W.G.): |
---|---|
Up to 50 ft (15 m) | 16 |
+50 ft - 100 ft (+15 m - 30 m) | 14 |
3. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) to reduce electric shock risk. Use only with a polarized UL-, CSA-, or ETL-listed outdoor extension cord. The plug fits only one way. If it doesn't fit, reverse the plug. If it still doesn't fit, obtain a correct polarized cord and ensure a polarized wall outlet is used. If the plug doesn't fit the wall outlet, reverse it. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug, receptacle, or cord.
4. To prevent the appliance cord from disconnecting, tie a knot with the two cords as shown in Table 1.
5. Do not abuse the cord. Never pull the shovel by the cord or yank it to disconnect. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges.

2. Insert bolts through aligned holes and secure with washers and joint-fixing knobs (refer to Fig. 2). Twist until tight. You may need to move wiring inside the tube.
Handle Adjustment
1. To adjust the auxiliary handle angle, loosen the handle knob counterclockwise.
2. Rotate the auxiliary handle to a comfortable position (refer to Fig. 3).
3. Retighten the handle knob clockwise securely. Ensure it is tight to prevent the auxiliary handle from moving or sliding.
Operation
Connecting to a Power Source
IMPORTANT: This electric snow shovel is for outdoor, residential use only. Do not use indoors or for commercial/industrial purposes.
To reduce electric shock risk, the appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other; see Fig. 4).
Use only a polarized UL-, CSA-, or ETL-listed outdoor extension cord. The appliance plug fits the cord only one way. If it doesn't fit, reverse the plug. If it still doesn't fit, obtain a correct polarized cord and ensure a polarized wall outlet is used. If the plug doesn't fit the wall outlet, reverse it. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify plugs, receptacles, or cords.
IMPORTANT: Frequently check the extension cord for holes or cracks. Do not use a damaged cord. Do not run the cord through standing water or wet grass. Use only an outdoor-recommended extension cord.
Securing the Extension Cord
1. Make a loop with the extension cord (Fig. 5).
2. Insert the loop through the opening in the back of the upper handle and secure it onto the extension cord restraint hook (Fig. 6).
3. Connect the extension cord to the appliance cord (Fig. 6). This helps prevent accidental disconnection during operation.
4. Plug the extension cord into a wall outlet.
WARNING! Keep the area to be cleared free of stones, toys, or other foreign objects that the rotor blades might pick up and throw. These items may be covered by snow and easily overlooked. Inspect the area thoroughly before beginning work.
Starting + Stopping
To Start: Push and hold the safety lock switch with your thumb, then squeeze the trigger switch with your fingers. Once the machine powers on, release the safety lock switch and proceed with operation (Fig. 7).
To Stop: Release the trigger switch.
Operating Tips
- Ensure the scraper blade at the base contacts the ground before starting. Push forward at a comfortable, slow rate to clear the path completely. Clearing width and snowfall depth dictate forward speed.
- Direct snow discharge by holding the shovel at a slight angle.
- For efficient snow removal, throw snow downwind and slightly overlap each swath.
- To clear snow from gravel or crushed rock surfaces, tilt the handle down to raise the scraper bar enough to prevent loose material from being picked up by the auger.
- This shovel clears a 10 in. (25.4 cm) wide path up to 6 in. (15 cm) deep in one pass.
- For deeper drifts, use a swinging or sweeping motion with both handles. Remove up to 6 in. (15 cm) per pass and repeat as needed.
- Keep the cord clear of obstructions, sharp objects, and the rotating auger. Do not pull or abuse the cord. Inspect frequently for damage and replace immediately if damaged.
- Disconnect the extension cord after use. Hang the cord with the shovel to prevent loss or damage.
