Working Principle

This is a single-chamber, self-priming diaphragm pump. It features a large diaphragm and a long stroke to achieve good self-priming ability and a filter-less solution. This design ensures a significant volume of water is pushed through the valves with each stroke, flushing out debris.

Required Fuse: 8 A (12V) / 4 A (24V)

Installation

Locate the pump in a dry location.

  • If mounted vertically, the motor must be above the pump housing.
  • Mark screw positions and drill pilot holes.
  • Mount the pump using stainless steel screws with provided washers. Ensure plastic spacers are correctly positioned. Do not overtighten to avoid compressing rubber feet.
  • Reinforced flexible tubing is recommended.
  • Use stainless steel hose clamps for securing tubing to quick disconnect fittings and other hose barbs.

Pump Configuration

The pump can be configured in three ways:

  • Motor to the left
  • Motor to the right
  • Motor straight up

To change configuration:

  1. Unscrew the six screws holding the pump to the steel foot.
  2. Position the pump with the motor facing the desired direction.
  3. Fasten the six screws.

Electrical Installation

Install according to ISO 10133 (Small Craft – Electrical system – Extra-low voltage DC installation). Note: The fuse must be ignition protected.

The motor has built-in thermal protection that resets automatically when cooled. If a separate earth lead is used, it should be yellow/green and connected to the motor base. Refer to the wiring diagram and table for correct installation. The negative wire must be black. Select wire size based on total wire length (see table). Seal wire connections with marine sealant.

Note: Before connecting to electrical control systems, ensure the equipment has sufficient amperage capacity for the motor's draw. Low voltage can cause motor overheating.

Maintenance

Regularly clear pump valves of debris to maintain performance. This involves unscrewing the housing clamp, opening the housing, and cleaning. Ensure the pump is disconnected from the power supply.

Wiring Diagram

A diagram shows the wiring with a fuse, battery (+), motor, and ground connection. The diagram indicates a maximum wire length of 0.2 m between components. Other electrical devices (switches, circuit breakers) should be installed between the pump and the positive (+) battery terminal (red wire).

Wiring Dimensions

(Based on 10% voltage drop)

Wire Size (mm² / AWG) Max. Wire Length* (m)
12V / 24V
1.0 mm² / #18 AWG 13 / 56
1.5 mm² / #16 AWG 20 / 84
2.5 mm² / #14 AWG 34 / 140

* Wire length is the total distance from battery to pump and back. Using a relay with a light wire from the main cable is recommended to shorten main leaders.

Self-priming

The pump is self-priming up to 3 m (10 feet).

Dry Running

The pump can run dry without damage, but it will unnecessarily reduce battery power.

Winterizing

Drain the pump by running it until it primes air and no more fluid exits the outlet.
