Casio EQB-500 Watch User Manual (Module 5419)
General Precautions
Handle the watch with care to avoid damage from drops or impacts. Do not overtighten the strap. Clean the watch and strap with a dry soft cloth, or a soft cloth dampened with a mild neutral detergent solution. Avoid using volatile agents like gasoline or solvents. Store the watch in a dry place when not in use. Prevent exposure to chemicals such as gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, or paint, as these can damage gaskets, the case, and the finish. Be cautious when cleaning straps with silk-screened designs to avoid damaging the prints.
Condensation may form inside the glass due to significant temperature changes, which is a normal physical phenomenon and not a defect.
Important Information
Water Resistance:
- Never press buttons underwater, change hands underwater, or unscrew the crown underwater.
- If exposed to salt water, rinse thoroughly with fresh water and dry completely.
- Avoid swimming with a leather strap and prolonged contact with water.
- For plastic straps: A white powdery substance may appear, which is harmless and can be wiped off. Sweat or moisture can damage plastic straps; wipe them clean promptly.
- For fluorescent cases and straps: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture can cause fluorescence to fade. Wipe off any moisture as soon as possible. Contact with other wet surfaces may also cause discoloration.
Water Resistance Classification:
Watches are classified by water resistance levels (I to V). Consult the table below for correct usage:
Category | Marking | Splashes, Rain, Washing | Swimming, Snorkeling | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|
I | No marking | Yes | No | No |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No |
III | 50 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No |
IV | 100 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes |
V | 200 M WATER RESISTANT / 300 M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Notes:
- Friction on fluorescent paint may transfer it to other surfaces.
- Condensation inside the glass due to temperature changes is normal.
- CASIO is not responsible for any damage or claims arising from the use of these watches.
- 1: Not water resistant. Avoid any moisture.
- 2: WR (Water Resistant) complies with ISO 2281. Brief water contact is acceptable.
- 3: 5 Bar (50 meters) water resistance allows showering and brief swimming.
- 4: 10 Bar (100 meters) water resistance allows normal swimming and snorkeling.
- 5: 20 Bar (200 meters) water resistance allows scuba diving (excluding depths requiring helium-oxygen mixtures).
Care for your watch:
- Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover yourself.
- Replace the rubber gasket every 2-3 years for water and dust protection.
- If moisture enters the watch, have it checked by a CASIO dealer immediately.
