Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus User Manual
This document provides comprehensive instructions for the assembly, setup, operation, and maintenance of the Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus indoor cycling trainer.
Before Assembly
⚠️ WARNING: Refer to the Product and Safety Information guide included in the product box for product warnings and other important information.
Dimensions and Safe Clearance
Before determining the location for your Tacx NEO Bike Plus trainer, consider its maximum dimensions. The Tacx NEO Bike Plus trainer is shown in its dimensions with and without the fan. Tacx recommends a minimum safe clearance of 60 cm (24 in.) around the trainer. The trainer's dimensions are approximately 75 cm (29.5 in.) on the sides, with a 60 cm (24 in.) clearance required in front. The overall length is between 130-145 cm (51-57 in.) and the height is between 109-137 cm (43-54 in.).
Cycling Posture
This diagram illustrates correct cycling posture on the Tacx NEO Bike Plus. Key points include: a 90° angle at the knee, 150°-155° angle at the hip, and 4-10 cm (1.6-3.9 in.) bend in the elbows. The text notes that pedals and the tablet are not included and can affect posture. Elbows should be slightly bent. Hands should be able to easily reach the gear shifters and brakes. At the bottom of the pedal stroke, the knees should be slightly bent.
Adjusting Trainer Geometry
Before assembling the Tacx NEO Bike Plus trainer, ensure the saddle and handlebars are installed using the factory-adjustable set screws and tightened with the L-key ?. To install the handlebars as shown in this guide, use the L-key to loosen four set screws.
NOTE: If the trainer will be used by multiple riders, Tacx recommends installing the handlebars for easy adjustment. The handlebars are packaged in the assembly kit with screws and washers. If the trainer will only be used by one rider and you do not need to adjust the geometry or posture, use the set screws and L-key.
- Get off the trainer before adjusting the saddle or handlebars.
- Remove your tablet before adjusting the height, reach, or angle of the handlebars.
- Match the trainer's geometry to your road bike (See "Tips for Proper Bike Fit," page 27).
- If you adjust the saddle by more than 1 cm, recheck the saddle height and handlebar reach. Do not exceed the maximum saddle or handlebar range.
- If you replace the pedals or saddle, recheck the trainer's geometry.
After tightening the handlebar bolts, align the handlebars with the frame or rail. Pull and rotate the handlebars.

Tips for Proper Bike Fit
Bike fit is unique to each person and requires some trial and error with direct cycling practice. After several rides, if you need help customizing the fit and geometry of your Tacx NEO Bike Plus trainer, you can try these tips.
REMEMBER: Remove your tablet before adjusting the height, reach, or angle of the handlebars.
- Adjust your saddle height:
- Measure your road bike and match it to the trainer.
- If you do not have a road bike, stand next to the bike and set the saddle height at your hip bone.
- Choose the correct crank arm length for the trainer:
- Match the crank arm length on your road bike.
- Most manufacturers print the length (mm) on the inside of the crank arm.
- Use your height or inseam to determine the crank arm length (See "Crank Arm Length Options," page 27).
- Check the crank settings in the Tacx Training app (See "Adjusting Trainer Settings from the App," page 22).
- Adjust the handlebar height, reach, or angle.
- Get on the bike and see how it feels.
TIP: If multiple riders will use the trainer, you must record the height and reach values for each rider.
If you still have questions about bike fit, consult a professional bike fitter.
Crank Arm Length Options
Online, there are many reports and crank arm length calculators available. If you still have questions about bike fit, you can consult a professional bike fitter.
Crank Arm Length | Height (approximate) | Inseam (approximate) |
---|---|---|
165 mm | 170 cm (5 ft 7 in.) or shorter | Less than 79 cm (31 in.) |
167.5 mm | 172.5 cm (5 ft 8 in.) | 79 to 81 cm (31 to 32 in.) |
170 mm | 175 cm (5 ft 9 in.) | 81 to 83 cm (32 to 33 in.) |
172.5 mm | 177.5 cm (5 ft 10 in.) | 83 to 86 cm (33 to 34 in.) |
175 mm | 180 cm (5 ft 11 in.) or taller | More than 86 cm (34 in.) |
Tightening Handlebars and Screws
⚠️ PERHATIAN: To avoid injury and damage to the trainer, tighten all handlebar bolts or set screws securely before use.
- Confirm the bike geometry, and choose an option:
- For handlebar bolts, tighten each handlebar securely by hand.
- For set screws, tighten each screw securely using the 6 mm or 8 mm L-key.
- For the handlebars, pull and rotate the handlebars only (bolts should not move), and align them with the frame or rail. The handlebars themselves have a spring mechanism that can be positioned parallel to the bike so they do not protrude or obstruct.
- Ensure the handlebars are re-secured in place.
Connecting Optional Sensors
Your trainer can be used with wireless ANT+ sensors, such as a heart rate monitor. Bluetooth sensors must be connected directly to the Tacx Training app.
- Bring the sensor within 3 m (10 ft) of your trainer.
NOTE: Keep a distance of 10 m (33 ft) from other sensors when connecting.
- Open the Tacx Training app. The sensor will appear in the connection list, and sensor data will appear in the app and trainer data fields.
