This manual provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Garmin Tacx NEO Bike Plus smart trainer.
Before Assembly
WARNING: Consult the 'Important Product and Safety Information' guide included with your product for important warnings and information.
Dimensions and Clearance
When choosing a location for your Tacx NEO Bike Plus, consider the maximum dimensions. The dimensions are illustrated with and without the fans. Tacx recommends a clearance of at least 60 cm (24 in.) on each side of the trainer.

Riding Position
Note: Your riding position is unique and may require multiple adjustments. Pedals and cleats are not included and can affect your riding position. The image provides guidance for a correct riding posture.
Your elbows should be slightly bent, allowing you to comfortably reach the handlebars and brakes. Your knee should be slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke.

Adjusting the Home Trainer Geometry
Before mounting, note that the saddle and handlebars have factory-installed screws that can be adjusted with an Allen wrench. To install the 4 handlebar grips, remove the 4 screws using an Allen wrench.
Note: If multiple cyclists use the trainer, Tacx recommends installing the grips for easier adjustments. The grips are packaged with the mounting kit. If you are the sole user and do not plan to adjust geometry or posture, you can use the screws and a hex wrench.
- Descend from the trainer before adjusting the saddle or handlebars.
- Remove your tablet before adjusting handlebar height, reach, or angle.
- Adjust the trainer's geometry to match your road bike's geometry (see 'Tips for Correctly Adjusting the Bike', page 26).
- If you adjust your saddle by more than 1 cm, recheck saddle height and handlebar reach.
- Do not exceed the maximum saddle or handlebar setback.
- If you change pedals or the saddle, recheck the trainer's geometry.
- After tightening each handlebar bolt, align the grip so it is parallel to the frame or rail. You can pull and rotate the grip.

Tacx NEO Bike Plus Assembly Instructions
Assembly Order
Follow this order for assembly:
- A Front Stabilizer: Install the front stabilizer on the trainer (see 'Installing the Front Stabilizer', page 6).
- B Pedals: Install the pedals (see 'Installing the Pedals', page 8).
- C Bottle Cages: Attach the bottle cages (see 'Attaching the Bottle Cages', page 9).
- D Saddle: Install the saddle (see 'Installing the Saddle', page 9).
- E Handlebar with Screen: Install the handlebars (see 'Installing the Handlebars', page 11).
- F Fans with Tablet Mount: Install the fans with the tablet mount (see 'Installing the Fans with Tablet Mount', page 12).
- G Tablet: Attach your tablet to the trainer (see 'Attaching Your Tablet to the Trainer', page 14).
- H Power Cable: Connect the power cable (see 'Connecting the Power Cable', page 16).
TIP: For further customization, see 'About the Device', page 21.
Mounting Kit: The mounting kit contains manuals, bolts, washers, tools, and other necessary parts for each assembly task.

Installing the Front Stabilizer
A You need the mounting kit for this task. At least two people are required to lift the Tacx NEO Bike Plus. Lift the trainer with care.
- Place the trainer on the floor and tilt it backward to install the front stabilizers 1.
- Open the mounting kit 2.
- Use the M10 x 90 mm screw 2, M10 x 130 mm screw 3, 10 mm washers 4, and the 8 mm Allen wrench to install the front stabilizers.
- Tilt the trainer forward to install the rear stabilizers 5.
- Use the M10 x 65 mm screws 6, 10 mm washers 7, and the 8 mm Allen wrench to install the rear stabilizers.
- Turn the knobs 8 on the front stabilizers to stabilize and level the trainer (optional).

Installing the Pedals
B Pedals are not included. For specific pedal installation instructions, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Install the right pedal first.
- Apply a thin layer of grease to the pedal spindle threads.
- Insert the pedal spindle into the crank arm.
There are five crank arm length options (see 'Crank Arm Length Options', page 26). Use the same crank arm length for both pedals.

- Tighten the spindle according to the pedal's instructions.
- Repeat steps 2-4 to install the left pedal. Note: The left pedal spindle has a reverse thread.

Attaching the Bottle Cages
C You can attach the standard-size bottle cage (optional) to the trainer. The bottle cage is included in the gift box. The frame has pre-installed screws and washers.
- Open the mounting kit and the gift box.
- Use the 2 screws 1 and the 4 mm Allen wrench to attach the bottle cage 2.

Installing the Saddle
D Before installing the saddle, refer to the 'Riding Position' (page 3) and 'Adjusting the Home Trainer Geometry' (page 4) sections.
- Open the mounting kit 1.
- Use the 6 mm Allen wrench to remove the screw.
- Place the cover 1 onto the saddle rail 2.
- Slide the saddle 3 onto the rail.
- Adjust the saddle setback and secure the M12 x 25 handle 4. The maximum setback is 15 cm.
- Use the 8 mm Allen wrench to remove the screw from the seat post.
- Adjust the saddle height and secure the M16 x 22 handle 5. The maximum saddle height is 26 cm.
- If necessary, use the 5 mm Allen wrench to adjust the saddle angle screw 6.

Installing the Handlebars
E Before installing the handlebars, refer to the 'Riding Position' (page 3) and 'Adjusting the Home Trainer Geometry' (page 4) sections.
- Open the mounting kit 1.
- Use the 6 mm Allen wrench to remove the screw.
- Place the cover 1 onto the handlebar rail 2.
- Slide the handlebars onto the handlebar rail.
- Adjust the handlebar reach and secure the M12 x 25 handle 3. The maximum reach is 15 cm.
- Use the 8 mm Allen wrench to remove the screw from the handlebar stem.
- Adjust the handlebar height and secure the M16 x 22 handle 4. The maximum handlebar height is 26 cm.
- If necessary, follow these steps to adjust the handlebar angle.
- Use the Torx 20 wrench to remove the handlebar cover 5.
- Use the 5 mm Allen wrench to loosen the 4 screws.
- Adjust the handlebar angle.
- Tighten the 4 screws.
- Replace and secure the handlebar cover.

Installing the Fans with Tablet Mount
F CAUTION: Do not touch the fan blades or insert objects into the fan housings during use. Contact with the fans or housings can damage the fans and cause injury.
The tablet mount is located between the fans (see 'Attaching Your Tablet to the Trainer', page 14).
Note: If you choose not to install the fans, you can install the tablet mount separately (see 'Installing the Tablet Mount', page 23).
- Align the fans 1 with the back of the screen.
- TIP: You may need to move the fan cables so they do not interfere. Use the M4 x 10 screws 2 and the Torx 20 wrench to install the fans.

- Connect the screen cable 3 and the fan cables 4 to the ports 5.
- Use the knobs 6 to adjust the fan angle.
- Place the rubber mat 7 in the compartment.

Attaching Your Tablet to the Trainer
G NOTICE: Before your first activity, read all instructions and attach your tablet to the trainer. Garmin is not responsible for damage to your tablet due to incorrect installation of the tablet mount.
Do not adjust handlebar height or reach when your tablet is attached to the trainer.
The clip fits most standard-size tablets. If your tablet has a thick case or a case with a stand, you can remove the case before attaching the tablet. The mounting kit includes a separate tablet mount if you choose not to install the fans (see 'Installing the Tablet Mount', page 23).
- Connect the rubber strap 1 to the clip 2.
- Attach the rubber strap to the back of the mount 3.
- Place your tablet on the trainer and secure it with the clip.
- If necessary, connect your tablet's cable to a USB port 4.
TIP: The 12.5 W USB port 5 is for high-speed charging. The 2.5 W USB port is for low-speed charging and may not work with all devices.

Connecting the Power Cable
H CAUTION: The power cable and adapter are in the mounting kit. Do not use a third-party power cable or adapter with the Tacx NEO Bike Plus, as it may cause injury or damage the trainer.
NOTICE: Do not expose the power cable or adapter to sweat or moisture, as this could damage your trainer. For more information on device care, see 'Device Care and Storage', page 22.
You can use the Tacx NEO Bike Plus with or without external power. Some trainer functions require power, such as downhill assist and USB charging.
- Connect the power cable 1 to the power port 2.
Note: Some models may have a two-part power cable with an adapter, but the functionality of either power cable is identical.
- Plug the power cable into a standard wall outlet.
- Turn the pedals. The screen and fans turn on. The ground LED is blue.
After each use, unplug the power cable and store it in a dry place.
CAUTION: Turn off and unplug the device after each use. This helps reduce the risk of device damage.
Training
Display Data
The screen turns on when you start pedaling. The display data varies if you are connected to the Tacx Training app, a third-party app, or optional wireless sensors.

- 1 Displays ANT+® or Bluetooth® connection status (see 'Pairing Optional Sensors', page 28).
- 2 Displays your current speed in kilometers per hour (km/h) or miles per hour (mi/h).
- 3 Displays your current heart rate in beats per minute (bpm). A heart rate monitor must be connected.
- 4 Displays the current front gear (default, left shifter).
- 5 Displays the current rear gear (default, right shifter).
- 6 Displays an error message or a trainer software update. For more information, connect to the Tacx Training app.
- 7 Displays your current power output in watts (W).
- 8 Displays your current cadence in revolutions per minute (rpm).
- 9 Displays the manual training mode (see 'Training Modes', page 19) and additional data.
Ready... Set... Go!
Your first activity on the Tacx NEO Bike Plus should be a short, manual workout. Learn to use the basic functions and familiarize yourself with the controls and settings.
- Start pedaling. The screen and fans turn on. The ground LED is blue (see 'Ground LED', page 19).
- Use the shifters to change the front and rear gears:
- Press button 1 to shift to a higher front gear.
- Press button 2 to shift to a lower front gear.
- Press button 3 to shift to a lower rear gear.
- Press button 4 to shift to a higher rear gear.
The list shows the default shifter functions. You can customize the shifters to behave like Campagnolo®, Shimano®, or SRAM® shifters (see 'Customizing Trainer Settings from the App', page 21).
- Press and hold both control buttons 56 for 5 seconds to select a manual training mode (see 'Training Modes', page 19).
- Press one of the buttons to select a mode. The active mode icon blinks for 1 second to confirm your selection.

- During your activity, select an option:
- Press 5 to increase incline, value, or resistance.
- Press 6 to decrease incline, value, or resistance.
6 If necessary, use the brakes to slow down gradually.
TIP: If you rest or pause your workout, you can also use the brakes to slow the flywheel.
Adjusting Fan Speed
After pairing your trainer with the Tacx Training app and starting an activity, the fan behavior is determined by the app settings (see 'Customizing Trainer Settings from the App', page 21). You can also adjust the fan speed manually.
- Press both control buttons twice (see 'Ready... Set... Go!', page 18). The fan controls appear on the trainer's screen.
- Use the right control button to increase fan speed or the left control button to decrease it.
There are four fan speeds: high, medium, low, and off.
Training Modes
You can choose a training mode when performing a manual (stand-alone) workout on your Tacx NEO Bike Plus. Training modes are not available when connected to the Tacx Training app or another third-party app.
Note: Training modes work with or without external power. The training will be more realistic with external power.

Ground LED

Standby Mode
When not in use, the Tacx NEO Bike Plus enters standby mode. You can wake it by pedaling.
- External power connected: After 5 minutes of inactivity, the trainer enters standby mode.
- No external power: After 10 seconds of inactivity, the trainer enters standby mode.
Tacx Training App
You can download the Tacx Training app on your compatible smartphone, tablet, or computer. Explore exciting routes without leaving home.
- Create your own routes, workouts, and more.
- Manage your training, customize default settings, and diagnose problems.
- Synchronize your indoor training data with your Garmin Connect™ account.
- Update the device software (see 'Updating the Trainer Software', page 25).
Cycling with the Tacx Training App
To use all the features of your trainer, you must put the trainer in pairing mode to connect to the Tacx Training app.
- Connect the trainer to a standard wall outlet to use all features, such as downhill assist and USB charging.
- From your phone's app store, install and open the Tacx Training app.
- On the Tacx NEO Bike Plus, press and hold both control buttons for 5 seconds (see 'Ready... Set... Go!', page 18).
- When the screen is blank except for a blinking *, release the buttons. The trainer enters secure pairing mode for five minutes or until pairing is complete. You can press any button to cancel.
- In the Tacx Training app, select 'Connect Trainer'.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing and setup process.
TIP: You must customize the trainer settings in the app before starting a workout or ride (see 'Customizing Trainer Settings from the App', page 21).
- Select a workout or ride.
- Start pedaling. The screen and fans turn on. The ground LED is blue (see 'Ground LED', page 19).
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Customizing Trainer Settings from the App
TIP: You must customize trainer settings in the app before starting a workout or ride. Some options require a connected ANT+ accessory.
- Open the Tacx Training app.
- Select your trainer.
- Select 'Trainer Settings'.
- Select an option:
- Select 'Virtual Gears' to customize gear settings.
- Select 'Fans' to set fan levels and training conditions.
- Select 'Display' to customize power display and speed units.
- Select 'Connection Settings' to use secure or open connections.
- Select 'Gear Change Mechanism' to set the derailleur type. TIP: It is recommended to use the same derailleur as your road bike.
- Select 'Road Feel' to adjust the intensity of road feel.
- Select 'Default Settings' to set default body weight or bike weight.
- Select 'Crank' to set your crank arm length based on your trainer's physical crank arm length (see 'Installing the Pedals', page 8).

Device Care and Storage

NOTICE: Garmin recommends the following care and storage tips to avoid exposing trainer components to sweat and moisture, which could damage your trainer.
Follow these steps to avoid exposing trainer components to sweat or moisture, which could damage your trainer.
- Install the sweat guard (see 'Installing the Sweat Guard', page 24).
- To prevent sweat or moisture from entering the trainer components, always use the sweat guard.
- Do not expose the power cable or adapter to sweat or moisture during or after exercise.
- After each use, unplug the power cable and store it in a dry place.
- After each use, clean the aluminum disc on the right side of the trainer with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly.
- Clean the saddle, handlebars, and pedals with a cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning solution.
- Clean and dry the trainer thoroughly before storing it.
- Use the small wheels on the rear of the Tacx NEO Bike Plus to move it. Note: You must stabilize and level the trainer after moving it.
- Check and firmly tighten all bolts, handles, and screws before each use.
- Check that the power cable and adapter are not damaged before each use.
- Visit buy.garmin.com or contact your Garmin dealer for information on optional accessories and replacement parts.
- If you do not plan to use the trainer for several months, store it in a cool, dry place with typical household temperatures (see 'Specifications', page 21).
Installing the Tablet Mount
The mounting kit includes M4 x 10 bolts (4) for installing the fans (see 'Installing the Fans with Tablet Mount', page 12) or the tablet mount.
- Align the tablet mount 1 with the back of the screen.
- Use the M4 x 10 bolts 2 and the Torx 20 wrench to install the tablet mount.
- Connect the screen cable 3 to the port 4.
- Attach the clip and tablet (see 'Attaching Your Tablet to the Trainer', page 14).

Installing the Sweat Guard
Excessive sweat can seep into your device components as you pedal, causing corrosion. For best results, Garmin recommends using the provided sweat guard to protect your device while you pedal. The sweat guard is absorbent.
- Place the buckle 1 around the seat post.
- Secure the hook-and-loop straps 2 around the handlebars.
TIP: Hand wash the sweat guard after a few uses. For care instructions, see the back of the sweat guard.

Protecting the Handlebars
You must replace the handlebar grip tape if it is worn or uncomfortable. Hand sweat can degrade the grip tape. Garmin recommends wearing cycling gloves.
TIP: It is recommended to replace the grip tape on one side first, so you can compare it to the other side.
- Remove the handlebar plugs 1 and pull the shifter covers 2 upward.
- Remove all existing grip tape and any damaged insulating tape.
- If needed, use insulating tape to secure the shifter cables.
- Wrap new grip tape around the handlebars.
- Lower the shifter covers and replace the handlebar plugs.

Replacing the Saddle
You can use a third-party saddle compatible with your trainer.
Note: To purchase a replacement saddle, visit garmin.com/intosports.
- Use the 5 mm Allen wrench to remove the saddle bolt 1.
- Remove the saddle.
- Align the new saddle on the rail and replace the saddle bolt.
- If necessary, adjust the saddle height, setback, and angle.

Troubleshooting
Updating the Trainer Software
Before you can update the trainer software, you must pair your trainer with the latest version of the Tacx Training app (see 'Cycling with the Tacx Training App', page 20).
- Plug the power cable into a wall outlet (see 'Connecting the Power Cable', page 16).
- Verify that the screen cable is connected (see 'Installing the Tablet Mount', page 23).
- Open the Tacx Training app.
- Select your trainer.
- Select 'Firmware Update' > 'Update'.
- Wait for the firmware update to complete. This process may take a few minutes.
Tacx NEO Bike Plus Does Not Respond
If the Tacx NEO Bike Plus stops responding, you can reset the device to factory settings.
- Press and hold both control buttons for 10 seconds. The icons blink.
- Press both control buttons to confirm. You can press any other button to cancel the factory reset.
- Wait for the device to reset.
After the factory reset is complete, you must pair your Tacx NEO Bike Plus with the Tacx Training app.
Tips for Correctly Adjusting the Bike
Bike fit is personal and requires some trial and error, as well as multiple uses. After a few uses, if you need help customizing the settings and geometry of your Tacx NEO Bike Plus, try the following tips.
REMINDER: Remove your tablet before adjusting handlebar height, reach, or angle.
- Adjust your saddle height: Measure your road bike and set your trainer accordingly. If you do not have a road bike, stand next to the trainer and set the saddle height to hip level.
- Select the appropriate crank arm length for your trainer: Match the crank arm length to your road bike's crank arm length. Most manufacturers print the length (mm) inside the crank arm. Use your height or inseam to determine the crank arm length (see 'Crank Arm Length Options', page 26). Verify crank arm settings in the Tacx Training app (see 'Customizing Trainer Settings from the App', page 21).
- Adjust handlebar height, reach, or angle.
- Get on the bike and see how it feels. TIP: If multiple cyclists use the trainer, note the height and reach values for each cyclist.
- If you have further questions about bike fit, consult a cycling ergonomics specialist.
Crank Arm Length Options
Many reports and calculators for crank arm length are available online. If you have further questions about bike fit, you can consult a cycling ergonomics specialist.

Tightening Handles and Screws
CAUTION: To avoid injury and damage to the trainer, firmly tighten all handle bolts and screws before each use.
- Check the bike's symmetry and choose an option:
- For handle bolts, firmly tighten each handle by hand.
- For screws, firmly tighten each screw using the 6 mm or 8 mm hex wrenches.
2 For the handles, pull and turn the handle only (the bolt does not move), and align it with the frame or rail. The handle has a spring mechanism that can align with the bike to prevent it from protruding or getting caught.
3 Ensure the handle returns to its proper position.
Can I Pair ANT+ or Bluetooth Sensors Using an Open Connection?
Your trainer can use an open connection with ANT+ or Bluetooth compatible sensors.
- In the Tacx Training app, select 'Connection Settings'.
- For Bluetooth sensors, disable 'Secure Bluetooth Connections'. A confirmation message appears.
- For ANT+ sensors, enable 'ANT+ FE-C' (Connected Trainer Control) or 'ANT+ Power Meter'. A confirmation message appears.
- Bring the sensor within 3 m (10 ft) of your trainer. Note: Stay at least 10 m (33 ft) away from other sensors during pairing.
- Follow the pairing instructions for your compatible sensor and trainer.
When you reactivate the trainer, the ANT+ or Bluetooth connection icon blinks three times (see 'Display Data', page 17). The connection type is open until you change it in the Tacx Training app settings.
Pairing Optional Sensors
Your trainer can be used with wireless sensors, such as a heart rate monitor. Bluetooth sensors must be paired directly to the Tacx Training app using a secure connection. To use ANT+ sensors, you need to change the device settings in the Tacx Training app. For more information on connection types, visit garmin.com/hrm_connection_types.
- Bring the sensor within 3 m (10 ft) of your trainer. Note: Stay at least 10 m (33 ft) away from other sensors during pairing.
- Open the Tacx Training app. The sensor appears in the connections list, and its data is displayed in the trainer and app data fields.
