Operating Procedure: JBC Efficient Soldering System
This innovative technology allows for rapid tip temperature recovery, enabling users to work at lower temperatures while achieving superior soldering quality. Furthermore, this soldering system supports Sleep Mode and Hibernation Mode. In these modes, the tip temperature is further reduced, increasing tip lifespan by up to 5 times.
- Work Mode: When you pick up the tool from the stand, the tip automatically heats up to the selected temperature.
- Sleep Mode: When the tool is placed in the stand, the temperature automatically drops to the preset sleep temperature.
- Hibernation Mode: After a longer period of inactivity, the station automatically powers off, and the tool cools down to room temperature.
Temperature: Adjust temperature from 90°C to 450°C by tapping '+' or '-' on the screen.
Temperature Levels: Tap Menu > Tools > Temperature Levels and enable "ON". Temperature levels can be adjusted via Menu > Tools > Settings > Temperature Levels.
Sleep Delay: Tap Menu > Tools and select the sleep delay from 0 to 60 minutes, or select "No Sleep".
Sleep Temperature: Tap Menu > Tools and select the sleep temperature, then adjust the temperature value.
Hibernation Delay: Tap Menu > Tools and select the hibernation delay from 0 to 60 minutes, or select "No Hibernation".
Main Menu Navigation:
- Tap "Menu" (☰) (1) on the working screen to enter the main menu.
- Tap "Home" (?) (2) to return to the working screen.
- Tap "Tools" (⚙️) (3) to access its configuration.
USB Connector and Firmware Update
Download: JBC Firmware Update Files
Download JBC firmware update files from www.jbctools.com/software.html, which include the latest update package. Extract the .jpu file to the root folder of a USB drive (USB-A, FAT32 format). It is recommended that the USB drive does not contain any other files.
Connecting USB Drive to Control Unit:
Connect the USB drive containing the latest update file and update notification to the control unit. This symbol ⬆️ will appear automatically. If the DME station does not detect the USB drive, use USB partitioning software.
Installation: JBC Firmware Update File
In the pop-up window, click "Install". If it does not appear, tap the notification.
Update Process
During the update process, do not turn off the control unit; the device may turn on and off automatically. The installation is complete when the "Welcome" pop-up window appears, followed by the working screen. If the process remains stalled for an extended period (over 30 minutes), reset the soldering station and wait for the installation to complete successfully.
Check Firmware Version
Verify successful installation of new firmware using the following steps:
- Select "Menu" (☰) (1), then select the "Station" (?) icon (2) on the screen.
- Select "Information" (ℹ️) (3), then press ▶ (4) to view the firmware version.
Maintenance and Care
Before performing maintenance or storage, always wait for the equipment to cool down.
- Clean the soldering station screen with glass cleaner or a damp cloth.
- Clean the casing and tools with a damp cloth. Alcohol can only be used for cleaning metal parts.
- Regularly check the metal parts of tools and stands for cleanliness to ensure the station can correctly detect the tool status.
- Before storing soldering tips, keep their surfaces clean and tinned to prevent oxidation. Rusty or dirty tip surfaces can impede solder heat transfer.
- Regularly check all connection cables and hoses.
Replacing a Blown Fuse:
- Remove the fuse holder and take out the blown fuse. Use a tool to pry it out if necessary.
- Insert the new fuse into the fuse holder and place it back into the soldering station.
Replace any defective or damaged parts. Use only genuine JBC spare parts. Repairs should only be performed by JBC authorized technical personnel.
Safety Precautions
⚠️ Mandatory safety guidelines to prevent electric shock, injury, fire, or explosion.
- The soldering station must not be used for any purpose other than soldering or desoldering. Improper use may cause fire.
- The power cord must be plugged into a proper socket. Ensure correct grounding before use. When unplugging the power cord, hold the plug, not the wire.
- Do not touch live parts during operation.
- When the tool is not in use, it should be placed on the stand to activate the sleep mode. Even when the station is turned off, the tip, tool metal parts, and stand may still be hot. Handle with care, including when adjusting the stand position.
- The soldering station must be supervised when it is powered on.
- Do not block the cooling fan. Heat can ignite flammable materials.
- Avoid contact of flux with skin or eyes to prevent allergies.
- Be cautious of soldering fumes.
- Keep the work area clean and tidy. Wear appropriate safety goggles and protective gloves during work to prevent injury.
- Be aware of liquid solder that may cause burns.
- Children aged 8 and above, and individuals with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities, or lack of experience, may use the soldering station if they have received adequate supervision or instruction on its use and understand the associated hazards. Children must not play with this soldering station.
- Children must not perform maintenance without supervision.
