Before using the appliance, ensure that all persons using it have read and understood all safety instructions and other information provided in this manual. Keep this manual and consult it frequently before using this appliance and when teaching others the proper operating procedures.
Before using the transfer pump, take the time to familiarize yourself with the controls, especially how to stop the transfer pump in case of emergency. The only persons who should use the transfer pump are those who fully understand the instructions and know how to operate it. Children should never be allowed access to the transfer pump.
Keep this manual for future reference.

Work Area Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate the appliance in an explosive atmosphere, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Electric appliances create sparks that may ignite dust or vapors.
- Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance while operating the appliance. If you are distracted, you may lose control of the appliance.
Personal Safety
- Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times. Good footing and balance enable better control of the pump in unexpected situations.
- Do not use a ladder or unstable support. Standing with both feet on a firm surface allows for better control of the pump in unexpected situations.
- Prevent accidental starting. Before inserting the battery, picking up or carrying the pump, ensure the switch is in the OFF position. Carrying an electric appliance with your finger on the switch or energizing an appliance that has the switch ON invites accidents.
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating this appliance. Do not use it when you are tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication. A moment of inattention can lead to serious injury.
- The use of the pump should be limited to its intended purpose as described in this manual.
Precautions for Use of the Transfer Pump
CAUTION! The pump has been evaluated for use with water only. Do not use with acidic or alkaline solutions, solvents, flammable materials, gasoline, petroleum products, bleach, or industrial-type solutions. These products can injure the user and permanently damage the pump.
- Do not use the pump if the switch does not turn it on or off. An electric appliance that cannot be controlled by the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
- Remove the battery from the pump before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing it. These safety measures help reduce the risk of accidental starting of the appliance.
- Relieve pressure and drain the pump before servicing it.
- Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean, and free of oil and grease. Slippery handles and gripping surfaces can cause loss of control of the appliance in unexpected situations.
- Clean the pump with a clean cloth.
- Do not use the pump near a heat source, such as a radiator, heat register, stove, or any other appliance (including amplifiers) that produces heat.
- Do not remove the pump hose while the pump is running.
- Do not insert objects into the ventilation openings. Do not use the pump if any of the openings are blocked. Keep all openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that could reduce air circulation.
- Maintain the pump and accessories. Check if moving parts are properly aligned and not binding, if parts are broken, and any other condition that may affect the operation of the pump. If the pump is damaged, have it repaired before use. Poorly maintained pumps are a cause of accidents.
Electrical Safety
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and safety instructions could result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may present a fire hazard when used with another type of battery pack.
- Use the charger only with the type of battery pack specified. Using another type of battery pack may present a risk of injury and fire.
- When not in use, keep the battery pack away from other metal objects, such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
- If the battery pack is damaged, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid all contact. If contact accidentally occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. If the liquid comes into contact with your eyes, seek medical attention. Ejected battery liquid may cause irritation or burns.
- Do not use a damaged or modified battery pack or charger. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behavior resulting in fire, explosion, or injury.
- Do not expose a battery pack or charger to fire or excessive heat. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 105°C (40.5°F) may cause an explosion.
- Follow all charging instructions for the battery pack and charger, and do not charge the battery pack outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Improper charging or charging outside the specified temperature range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
- Do not modify or attempt to repair the charger or battery pack (as applicable) except as specified in the operating instructions.
Specific Safety Warnings for Transfer Pumps
- Familiarize yourself with your pump. Read the user manual carefully. Learn its applications and limitations, as well as the potential hazards specific to this type of equipment. By following this rule, you will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Do not allow children to use the pump or to use it as a toy. When the pump is used near children, they must be closely supervised.
- Do not run the pump dry.
- Do not lift the pump by the hoses.
- Periodically inspect the pump and hoses. Ensure the pump is free of mud, sand, and debris. Before inspecting the pump, remove the battery.
- This pump has been evaluated for use with water only.
- The pump is not submersible.
- Risk of electric shock: The use of the pump in swimming pools or marine areas has not been investigated.
- This pump has thermal protection.
- Appliances using a battery must not be plugged into an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always ready to operate. Be aware of the potential hazards when your battery-powered appliance is not in use or when changing accessories. By following this rule, you will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Do not place an appliance or its battery near a fire or heat source. This precaution reduces the risk of explosion and injury.
- Do not crush, drop, or damage the battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped or received a sharp blow. A damaged battery may explode. Dispose of a dropped or damaged battery immediately.
- Batteries can explode in the presence of an ignition source, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious injury, never use a cordless appliance in the presence of an open flame. An exploding battery can propel debris and chemicals. If you come into contact with chemicals, wash immediately with water.
- Do not charge a battery in a damp location. Do not use, store, or charge a battery pack or appliance in a location where the temperature is below 5°C (41°F) or above 40.5°C (105°F). Do not store anything outdoors or in a vehicle.
- Do not incinerate the battery, even if it is severely damaged. The battery may explode in a fire.
- To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not use this pump with a semiconductor-controlled speed limiter.
- To reduce the risk of bodily injury and electric shock, the pump should not be used or placed in an area where young children can reach it.
- To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not expose the pump to water or rain.
- This pump is not designed to transfer potable water or other potable liquids.
- Do not pump water with a temperature above 60°C (140°F). Do not pump sand, particles, or large debris. The pump could be damaged.
- Do not let this pump run unattended. Anyone who disregards this warning may be injured.
- Do not pump water from a stream, pond, or location where foreign objects could be sucked into the pump. Thick materials can enter the water intake hose.
- Before starting the pump, attach the discharge hose. An unattached discharge hose can whip around like a lash. This could cause serious or fatal injury.
Maintenance and Repair
- Entrust your repairs to a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This is the only way to ensure the safety of the product.
- For repairs to the appliance, use only identical replacement parts. Follow the instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual. Using unauthorized parts or not following maintenance instructions may result in electric shock or injury.
Battery and Charger Safety Information
NOTE: This product includes the tool only. The battery and charger are not included. They must be purchased separately.
The 24V-XFP5-CT model is compatible with the iON+ 24V system batteries and chargers. For more information, see page 17.
We have spent a lot of time designing each battery pack to ensure we provide you with batteries that are safe to use, robust, and have high volumetric energy. The battery cells are equipped with a wide range of safety devices. Each individual cell is initially formatted, and its characteristic electrical curves are recorded. This data is then used exclusively to assemble the best possible battery packs.
Despite all these precautions, always exercise caution when handling the battery. The following points must be observed at all times for safe battery use. Safe use can only be guaranteed if the cells are intact. Any improper handling of a battery pack can damage the cells.
IMPORTANT! Analyses confirm that the misuse of high-performance batteries and poor maintenance are the main factors responsible for bodily and/or property damage.
WARNING! Use only approved replacement batteries. Other types of batteries can damage the cordless transfer pump and prevent it from functioning properly, which can lead to serious injury.
WARNING! Do not use a damaged or modified battery pack or charger. Damaged or modified batteries may behave unpredictably and cause fire, explosion, or bodily harm.
Do not modify or attempt to repair the charger or battery pack, except as specified in the instructions for their use or maintenance.
Have your battery pack repaired or serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This is the only way to ensure the safety of the battery pack.
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of bodily injury, charge the iON+ 24V lithium-ion battery pack only with the iON+ 24V lithium-ion charger specifically provided for it. Other types of chargers present a risk of fire and bodily and property damage. Do not plug the battery pack into the mains or a car cigarette lighter. The battery pack would be permanently and irreparably damaged.
Avoid hazardous environments: do not charge the battery pack in rain, snow, or in damp locations. Do not use the battery pack or charger when the atmosphere is explosive (gaseous effluents, dust, or flammable materials), as sparks may occur when inserting or removing the battery pack, which could cause a fire.
Charge in a well-ventilated area: do not block the charger's ventilation openings. Keep the immediate vicinity of the charger clear for good ventilation. Prohibit smoking and do not allow any open flames near a charging battery pack. Dispersed gas in the atmosphere can explode.
NOTE: The safe temperature range for the battery is between 5°C and 40.5°C (41°F and 105°F). Do not charge the battery outdoors when it is freezing; charge it at room temperature.
- Take care of the charger cord: when unplugging the charger, pull the plug from the outlet, not the cord, to avoid damaging the electric plug and cord. Never pull the charger by the cord or yank the cord to remove it from the outlet. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. When using the charger, ensure that no one walks on the cord, trips over it, or that it can be damaged or subjected to tension or pressure. Do not use the charger if its plug or cord is damaged. Replace any damaged charger immediately.
- Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary: using an improperly sized, damaged, or improperly connected extension cord presents a risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord must be used, plug the charger into an extension cord of 16-gauge or larger, with the female plug matching the male plug on the charger. Ensure the extension cord is in good condition.
- Use only recommended accessories: using an accessory not recommended or sold by the charger or battery pack manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or bodily harm.
- Unplug the charger when not in use: make sure to remove the battery pack from the unplugged charger.
WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock, always unplug the charger before cleaning or performing maintenance. Do not allow water to flow into the charger. To reduce the risk of electric shock, use a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
- Do not burn or incinerate the battery pack: it may explode and cause bodily or property damage. Toxic fumes and substances are released from a burning battery pack.
- Do not crush, drop, or damage the battery pack: do not use the battery pack or charger if it has been dropped, subjected to a sharp blow, crushed, or otherwise damaged (e.g., pierced by a nail, struck by a hammer, stepped on, etc.).
Battery Information
- For optimal battery pack performance, avoid waiting until it is almost discharged and charge it frequently.
- Store the battery pack in a cool place, ideally at 25°C (77°F), and charge it to at least 40%.
- Lithium-ion batteries naturally wear out over time. The battery pack should be replaced at the latest when its capacity drops to 80% of its original capacity when new. Weak cells in a worn-out battery pack can no longer produce the high current required for your cordless transfer pump to operate normally, which poses a safety risk.
- Do not dispose of the battery pack in an open fire, as it may explode.
- Do not ignite the battery pack or expose it to a flame.
- Do not short-circuit: a short circuit will occur if a metal object connects the positive and negative contacts of the battery pack. Do not place any battery pack near anything that can cause a short circuit, such as a paper clip, coin, key, nail, or other metal object. A short-circuited battery pack presents a fire hazard and can cause serious injury.
- Store the battery pack and its charger in a cool, dry place: do not store them in a location where the temperature may be above 40.5°C (105°F), such as directly in sunlight, inside a vehicle, or in a metal shed during summer.
- Do not disassemble anything: improper reassembly can present a significant risk of electric shock, fire, or exposure to battery chemicals. If the battery or charger is damaged, contact an authorized Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or call Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563) for assistance.
- Battery chemicals can cause severe burns: never allow a damaged battery pack to come into contact with skin, eyes, or mouth. If a damaged battery pack is leaking chemicals, use rubber or neoprene gloves to dispose of it safely. If skin comes into contact with battery fluids, wash the affected area with soap and water and rinse with vinegar. If eyes come into contact with battery chemicals, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 20 minutes and consult a doctor. Remove contaminated clothing and dispose of it.
- Do not short-circuit: a short circuit will occur if a metal object connects the positive and negative contacts of the battery pack. Do not place any battery pack near anything that can cause a short circuit, such as a paper clip, coin, key, nail, or other metal object. A short-circuited battery pack presents a fire hazard and can cause serious injury.
- Store the battery pack and its charger in a cool, dry place: do not store them in a location where the temperature may be above 40.5°C (105°F), such as directly in sunlight, inside a vehicle, or in a metal shed during summer.
- Do not completely discharge the battery pack: never completely discharge the battery pack (the recommended maximum discharge level is 80%). Complete discharge of a battery pack will lead to premature aging of its cells.
Charger and Charging Process Information
- Check the data marked on the battery charger's nameplate. Ensure you connect the battery charger to a power source that matches the voltage indicated on the nameplate. Never connect it to a different mains voltage.
- Protect the battery charger and its cord from damage. Keep the charger and its cord away from heat, oil, and sharp edges. Have damaged cords repaired without delay by a qualified technician at an authorized Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or call Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service at 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563).
- The electrical plug must match the outlet. Do not make any modifications to the plug. Do not use an adapter plug with a grounded charger. Using unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
- Keep the battery charger, battery pack, and cordless appliance out of the reach of children.
Charging the iON+ 24V Lithium-Ion Battery
NOTE: The iON+ 24V lithium-ion battery pack does not have a "memory effect" when charged after a partial discharge. Therefore, it is not necessary to deplete the battery pack before inserting the charger plug.
- Use the charge indicator lights to determine when to charge your iON+ 24V lithium-ion battery pack.
- You can "top off" the battery pack charge before starting a big job or after a long day of use.
How to Charge the Battery
- To remove the battery pack from its compartment, open the battery compartment cover and press the locking push buttons on the battery (Fig. 1).
- The way to recharge your lithium-ion battery depends on your Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® charger model. You can insert your 24V battery into the 24VCHRG-QC fast charger (sold separately) or the 24VCHRG-DPC dual charger (sold separately) (Fig. 2 and 3).

- The battery charge indicators will light up one by one during the charging process. Immediately unplug the charger when all three charge indicators are lit.
- The 24VCHRG-QC fast charger (sold separately) and the 24VCHRG-DPC dual charger (sold separately) also have additional charge indicator lights that indicate the charging status (Fig. 2 and 3).
CAUTION! Before removing the battery from the charger, be sure to unplug the charger from the outlet first.
WARNING! This charger does not automatically shut off when the battery is fully charged. Be careful not to leave the battery plugged into the charger. Turn off the charger or unplug it from the mains once the battery is fully charged.
- Recharging the battery at the opportune moment will prolong its lifespan. You should recharge the battery pack when you notice a drop in the appliance's power.
IMPORTANT! Never let the battery pack discharge completely, as this will irreparably damage it.
- Once the battery pack is fully charged, remove it from the charger by pressing the locking push buttons and sliding it backward to release it from the charger.
Assembly
WARNING! Do not insert the battery until all hoses are connected and the appliance is ready for use.
- The appliance is fully assembled when shipped. If necessary, securely attach it to a suitable surface (e.g., a workbench) in a suitable location (protected from dust, dry, well-lit) using the four M5 sheet metal screws (Fig. 4). Otherwise, place the pump on a stable, dry, and level surface.
- Connect a flexible discharge hose to the water outlet. It is recommended to use a garden hose with a standard 19 mm female hose connector. Screw to attach (Fig. 5).

Using the Pump
WARNING! This transfer pump should only be used to pump clear water. DO NOT pump seawater, brine, laundry water, or any other liquid that may contain caustic chemicals and/or foreign matter. DO NOT pump sand, particles, or large debris. DO NOT pump liquids such as gasoline, fuel oil, or kerosene. DO NOT use in flammable or explosive atmospheres.
WARNING! Do not place the pump underwater or in a damp location. Place the pump only in a dry location.

To use this cordless transfer pump, you need a battery and charger from the iON+ 24V system. For battery and charger options and specifications, please refer to page 17 or visit sunjoe.com for more information.
Starting/Stopping the Transfer Pump
- Position the water intake hose and the flexible discharge hose, ensuring there are no obstructions, kinks, or twists.
- Drop the other end of the water intake hose into the water to be transferred, placing it as close to the center of the water source as possible.
- Attach the flexible discharge hose and ensure it does not whip around or move unexpectedly when pumping begins.
- With both flexible hoses connected and attached, open the battery compartment cover and insert the battery until it clicks into place. Close the battery compartment cover (Fig. 8).

NOTE: Before turning on the pump, ensure that the hose connections are tight. A leaking connection will significantly reduce suction power and pump performance.
WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock or electrical shock, do not direct the water discharge towards electrical appliances.

- To start the pump, press the side marked "I" on the ON/OFF switch (Fig. 9). The indicator light turns red when the pump is running.

NOTE: The indicator light is used to indicate the pump's running status. When the indicator light is red, the pump is running normally. When the indicator light flashes, it indicates that the pump is overheating. Stop the pump and let it cool down before restarting it. The pump is also equipped with overheat protection that automatically stops the pump when it runs dry.
NOTE: A pump running dry can overheat. If overheating is due to the pump running dry, ensure that the water intake hose is properly positioned in the water.
- To stop the pump, press the side marked "O" on the ON/OFF switch (Fig. 9). Remove the battery pack from the battery compartment.
Usage Tips
This appliance is designed to drain or remove water from flooded areas, clogged sinks, water basins, etc. During use, pay attention to the following:
- Keep the water inlet clean and free of any foreign objects. Inspect the water inlet before each use.
- When the water to be transferred contains large particles or is not deep enough to be sucked into the water intake hose, use the supplied pond skimmer. Simply connect it to the male end of the water intake hose, twist to attach securely, and place it in the center of the water to be transferred (Fig. 10).
- As soon as the pump starts to suck air, stop the pump.
NOTE: DO NOT let the pump run dry. The pump could be damaged.
- For best results, the pump should not be placed more than 5.5 m (18 ft) above the water intake itself.
- During use, do not obstruct the ventilation openings. The pump could overheat.
- Do not use the pump for more than one hour at a time.
- Once the work is finished, stop the pump and remove the battery. Disconnect the water intake hose and the flexible discharge hose. Before storing the hoses, make sure there is no water left inside.

Any intervention carried out by an unauthorized service center or unqualified personnel will completely void the warranty.
CAUTION! To reduce the risk of bodily injury, always remove the battery before attempting to install, repair, or service the pump. Never disassemble the pump, battery pack, or charger. For all repairs, contact your Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service.
General Maintenance
- Frequently inspect the pump for any problems, such as abnormal noise, misaligned or binding moving parts, broken parts, and anything else that could compromise the proper functioning of the appliance. For ALL repairs, contact your Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service.
- Clean dust and debris from the ventilation openings. Keep handles dry, clean, and free of oil or grease. To clean the pump body, use only a dry cloth, as some cleaning products or solvents can attack plastic or insulating parts. These include gasoline, turpentine, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia, and household detergents containing ammonia. Never use flammable or combustible solvents around battery packs, battery chargers, machines, appliances, or tools.
Wheel and O-ring Replacement
IMPORTANT: Use only original replacement filters specified for this pump.
You can purchase a replacement wheel (model 24V-XFP5-IMP), an O-ring (model 24V-XFP5-ORING), and other original replacement parts by visiting our website at sunjoe.com or by calling the toll-free assistance number 1-866-SNOWJOE (1-866-766-9563). The use of accessories or parts that do not meet the specifications of the original equipment may cause abnormal pump performance, may compromise user safety, and will void the manufacturer's warranty.
- Turn off the pump, remove the battery pack from the battery compartment, and disconnect all hoses.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the five screws that attach the wheel cover (Fig. 11).

- Remove the worn wheel and O-ring (Fig. 12).

- Replace the wheel and O-ring with new ones. When assembling the wheel, ensure the shaft is properly aligned with the center hole of the wheel and push the wheel as far as possible into the pump.
- Ensure the O-ring is properly seated in its location and replace the wheel cover. Attach using the five original screws.
- Attach the hoses and insert the battery; turn on the pump to ensure there is no leak at the wheel cover.
Proper Battery and Charger Maintenance
WARNING! To reduce the risk of bodily injury, always unplug the charger from the mains socket and remove the battery pack from the charger before performing any maintenance. Never disassemble the battery pack or charger. For all repairs, contact a Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® dealer or Snow Joe® + Sun Joe® customer service.
- To reduce the risk of bodily and property damage, never immerse your battery pack or charger in liquid, and never allow liquid to enter these components.
- Clean dust and debris from the charger's ventilation openings and electrical contacts by blowing compressed air.
- To clean the battery pack and charger, use only a soft, clean, dry brush, keeping it away from all electrical contacts. Some cleaning products or solvents may attack plastic or insulating parts. These include gasoline, turpentine, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia, and household detergents containing ammonia. Never use flammable or combustible solvents around battery packs, battery chargers, machines, appliances, or tools.
Storage
Store the pump indoors in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children, with the battery pack removed. Disconnect and drain all hoses. Keep corrosive agents, such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts, away.
Off-Season Battery and Charger Storage
- Do not expose the battery pack or charger to water, rain, or anything that could make them damp. The charger and battery pack could be permanently damaged. Do not use oil or solvents to clean or lubricate the battery pack, as the plastic casing could become brittle, crack, and cause injury.
- Store the battery pack and charger at room temperature in a non-damp environment. Do not store them in a damp location where the terminals could corrode. As with other types of battery packs, a permanent loss of capacity may occur if the battery pack is stored for long periods at a high temperature (above 49°C / 120°F).
- iON+ 24V lithium-ion battery packs remain charged longer than other types of battery packs when stored. As a general rule, it is preferable to unplug the battery charger from the mains socket and remove the battery pack from the charger when not in use. During the off-season, before storing it and to maintain its optimal performance, recharge the battery pack every six months to 50% capacity (two charge indicator lights illuminated).
Recycling and Disposal
The appliance is delivered in packaging that prevents it from being damaged during shipping. Keep the packaging until you are sure that all parts have been delivered and the appliance functions correctly. Then, recycle the packaging or keep it for long-term storage.
WEEE symbol. Waste electrical equipment must not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle them at designated facilities. For recycling regulations, contact local authorities or your dealer.
Warning Regarding Batteries and Disposal Information
Always dispose of battery packs in accordance with federal, provincial, or territorial and local regulations. For a list of recycling sites, contact a recycling organization in your area.
CAUTION! Even when discharged, battery packs store a certain amount of energy. Before disposing of them, use insulating tape to cover the terminals to prevent the battery packs from short-circuiting, which could cause a fire or explosion.
WARNING! To reduce the risk of injury or explosion, never burn or incinerate a battery pack, even if it is damaged, flat, or completely discharged. Burning releases fumes and toxic substances into the surrounding atmosphere.
- Batteries vary by type of machine, appliance, or tool. Consult the manual for specific information.
- If several are needed, insert only new batteries of the same type into your tool, appliance, or machine.
- If, when inserting them, the battery polarity is not respected as indicated in the battery compartment or in the manual, their lifespan may be reduced or they may leak.
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal-hydride, or lithium-ion) batteries.
- Do not dispose of battery packs in a fire.
- Battery packs must be recycled or disposed of in accordance with provincial, territorial, or local directives.
