Safety Information

Important Safety Information

⚠️ WARNING

Rear visibility systems (backup cameras) are required in certain new vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. Owners of vehicles equipped with compliant rear visibility systems should not install or use this product in a way that alters or disables that system's compliance with applicable regulations. If unsure about your vehicle's system, contact the manufacturer or dealer.

If your vehicle has a factory backup camera, do not use the Pioneer receiver unless it displays the same view. Connection may require a separate adapter. Not all vehicles may be compatible.

Important Safeguards

⚠️ WARNING

Pioneer recommends professional installation only by authorized service personnel. Never service this product yourself, as it may expose you to electric shock or other hazards, and can cause damage not covered by warranty.

Precautions Before Connecting the System

⚠️ WARNING

Do not tamper with or disable the parking brake interlock system. Doing so could result in serious injury or death.

❗ CAUTION

  • Secure all wiring with cable clamps or electrical tape. Ensure no bare wiring is exposed.
  • Do not connect the yellow lead directly to the vehicle battery. Engine vibration may cause insulation failure, leading to short circuits.
  • Ensure cables do not become wound around the steering column or shift lever, or interfere with moving vehicle parts (steering wheel, shift lever, parking brake, seats, doors, controls).
  • Route wires away from high temperatures to prevent insulation damage, short circuits, or permanent product damage.
  • Do not shorten leads, as this may impair the protection circuit (fuse holder, etc.).
  • Never power other electronic products by cutting into this product's power supply lead, as it can exceed current capacity and cause overheating.

Before Installing This Product

  • Use this unit with a 12-volt battery and negative grounding only. Failure to do so may result in fire or malfunction.
  • To avoid electrical shorts, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable before installation.

To Prevent Damage

⚠️ WARNING

  • When using 4-channel speaker output, use speakers rated over 50 W (max input power) and with 4 Ω to 8 Ω impedance. Do not use 1 Ω to 3 Ω speakers.
  • The black cable is ground. Connect the ground wire first when installing this unit or a power amp. Ensure it's properly connected to the vehicle's metal body. Ground wires for the power amp and this unit/other devices must be connected separately with different screws. Loose ground screws can cause fire or malfunction.

When replacing the fuse, use only the prescribed rating.

This product requires a vehicle with an ACC (accessory) position on the ignition switch.

To avoid short-circuiting, cover disconnected leads with insulating tape, especially unused speaker leads.

The symbol --- on the product indicates direct current.

Connections

Precautions

Do not operate this product, applications, or optional rear view camera if it distracts from safe driving. Always obey traffic laws. If you experience difficulty, pull over, park safely, and apply the parking brake before making adjustments.

Do not install where it may:

  • (i) obstruct the driver's vision,
  • (ii) impair vehicle safety systems (airbags, hazard lights), or
  • (iii) impair the driver's ability to operate the vehicle safely.

Installation may not be possible due to vehicle type or interior shape.

Notice for the Blue/White Lead

When the ignition switch is turned ON (ACC ON), a control signal is output through the blue/white lead. Connect this to the system remote control terminal of an external power amp, auto-antenna relay control terminal, or antenna booster power control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC). This signal is output even if the audio source is off.

Installation

Precautions Before Installation

❗ CAUTION

Never install this product where it could:

  • Injure occupants during sudden stops.
  • Interfere with driver operation (e.g., on the floor, near steering wheel/shift lever).

Use supplied parts as specified. If using aftermarket parts, ensure compatibility is checked by your dealer. Using incompatible parts may damage the product or cause it to detach.

Do not install where it may:

  • (i) obstruct driver's vision,
  • (ii) impair vehicle safety systems (airbags, hazard lights), or
  • (iii) impair the driver's ability to operate safely.

Never install near airbag deployment zones (dashboard, door, pillar). Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual.

Before Installing

  • Consult your dealer if drilling or modifications are required.
  • Temporarily connect wiring to confirm correct connections and system operation before final installation.

Installation Notes

  • Avoid locations with high temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight, or rain (near heaters, vents, conditioners, dashboard tops, floors, doors).
  • Install horizontally with 0 to 60 degrees tolerance.
  • Leave ample space behind the unit for heat dispersal and keep cables from blocking vents.
