Operation and Maintenance
2. Filter
The filter, located at the end of the white tube inside the sprayer tank, helps prevent clogging. To clean the filter, remove the hose from the tank and lift out the outlet tube. Ensure the filter is positioned at the bottom of the tank.
3. Pre-Use Check
- Check the tightness of the hose nut to ensure the hose is securely attached to the tank outlet.
- Inspect the hose for deterioration, cracks, softness, or brittleness. Replace if any issues are found using only original manufacturer's parts.
- Remove the pump and inspect the interior and exterior of the tank for signs of deterioration. Discard and replace the tank immediately if any deterioration is found. Do not attempt to patch leaks.
- Perform a leak test using only water: Pump the plunger 10-20 strokes and inspect for leaks.
- Direct the shut-off away from you and open it to ensure the discharge is not clogged.
- If the unit passes the water test, release pressure, empty the tank, and proceed with filling and spraying instructions.
- Inspect all metal parts (wand, nozzle, fittings) for rust, corrosion, or pitting. Replace affected parts with original manufacturer's parts if necessary.
4. Filling
- Turn the pump handle counterclockwise and remove the pump.
- Prepare the spray solution according to the chemical manufacturer's directions and safety warnings.
- Fill the tank to the proper gallon marker. Do NOT overfill.
- Check the pump barrel for grass or dirt. Replace the pump in the tank and tighten securely.
5. Pressurizing and Spraying
To Pressurize:
- Turn the pump handle clockwise to tighten.
- Pump the handle until you feel resistance.
To Spray:
- Push the handle down and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock. Begin spraying.
- Re-pump as required to maintain spray force.
Figure 5A, 5B, 5C Description: These figures illustrate the actions for pressurizing and spraying: tightening the handle, pumping, and locking the handle for continuous spray.
6. To Release Pressure
Your sprayer is equipped with a pressure relief/release valve.
- To release pressure, lift and hold the cap until air is completely exhausted, OR, turn the valve slowly counter-clockwise until air escapes and is completely exhausted.
- Stay away from the sprayer until all air has escaped.
Figure 6A & 6B Description: These figures show how to operate the pressure release valve by lifting the cap or turning the valve.
7. Care, Storage and Maintenance
- Follow chemical manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Rinse thoroughly with the recommended solvent. Follow filling, pressurizing, and spraying instructions, but pump only 8-10 strokes. Ensure the wand and nozzle are thoroughly rinsed after each use.
- Open the shut-off and allow the recommended solvent to run through the discharge assembly.
- Release pressure, remove the pump, and empty the sprayer.
- Store the sprayer tank upside down, with the pump removed, in a warm, dry location.
- Periodically oil the pump by dropping 10-12 drops of light oil down the pump rod through the opening in the cover.
8. Fatigue-Free Spraying (Locking Mechanism)
- Lock-Off Position (No Spraying): Pull up on the handle and move the red locking mechanism into the lock-off position (Fig. 8a). To disengage, push down on the handle and return the mechanism to the neutral position (Fig. 8c).
- Lock-On Position (Continuous Spraying): Push down on the handle and move the red locking mechanism into the lock-on position (Fig. 8b). To disengage, push down on the handle and return the mechanism to the neutral position (Fig. 8c).
Figure 8A, 8B, 8C Description: These figures illustrate the three positions of the handle's locking mechanism: Lock-Off, Lock-On, and Neutral.
9. Replacing Hose to Tank
- Ensure the black adapter is attached to the outlet tube adapter (Fig. 9A).
- Press the hose over the adapter (Fig. 9B).
- Ensure the worm gear clamp is below the black adapter (Fig. 9C).
- Tighten the clamp fully (Fig. 9D).
Figure 9A, 9B, 9C, 9D Description: These figures show the steps for securely attaching the hose to the tank using an adapter and clamp.
