Health & Safety Information
General Safety Instructions for Power Tool Use
Always use common sense and respect the tool to reduce the risk of injury. Read the manual fully before operation. Know how to start, stop, and use the emergency stop. Keep the work area tidy and well-lit. Avoid damp locations. Do not expose to rain or operate near flammable materials. Beware of electric shock; avoid contact with earthed surfaces and protect the power cable. Keep bystanders away. Unplug and house tools not in use. Do not overload or misuse the tool; use appropriate tools for the job. Dress properly: wear close-fitting clothing, tie back long hair, remove jewellery, and wear enclosed footwear with a nonslip sole. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, vibration-reducing gloves, safety goggles, or a face shield as appropriate for the task. Do not breathe contaminated air; use extraction systems or work outdoors. Move the machine as instructed; do not carry by the power cable. Do not overreach. Maintain tools correctly with original parts.
Connection to the Power Supply
Ensure the power supply is compatible with the machine's rating plate (230V AC). The vacuum cleaner is supplied with a UK standard 3-pin plug and is Class II (double insulated), requiring no earth connection. If an extension lead is required, use an approved, compatible lead rated for the appliance. CAUTION: Risk of electric shock. Do not open. The fuse value is marked on the plug face. Replace fuses only with correct rating (BS1362, ASTA or BS Kite marked). The fuse cover is removable with a slot screwdriver; ensure it is replaced before use. If a replacement plug is fitted, it must be done by a qualified electrician. Damaged plugs must be disabled. Draper Tools recommends using a Residual Current Device (RCD).

Preparing the Vacuum Cleaner
8.1 Attach the Castors - FIG. 1
With the power head removed, turn the container upside down and slot the four castors (20) into position.
8.2 Attach the Hose - FIG. 2
Insert the large end of the hose (12) into the vacuum port (3) and lock it by pushing and twisting.
8.3 Drain Plug - FIG. 3
Ensure the drain plug (1) is fitted in position before using the vacuum cleaner. Decide whether to use for Dry, Wet, or Blowing operation and fit filters accordingly.
Setting the Vacuum Cleaner
Dry Vacuuming
9.1 Fitting Cloth Filter - FIG 4
Ensure the tank and accessories are dry. Slide the cloth filter (16) over the float cage, ensuring it covers down to the base.
9.2 Fitting Paper Dust Bag - FIG 5
Fix the paper dust bag (14) to the inner side of the hose connector in the tank. Replace the bag when suction power decreases.
9.3 Attach Accessories - FIG. 6
Replace the top, push down to engage the clasps. Choose the required combination of accessories for the job.
9.4 Switching On - FIG. 7
Connect the vacuum cleaner to the power supply and switch it ON using the switch (I). Use as normal.
WARNING: EXPLOSION AND FIRE HAZARD. Never vacuum asbestos, inflammable fluids (petrol, oil, solvents), or operate near inflammable fluids or gas. Do not vacuum fluids or materials hotter than 60°C (e.g., burning cigarettes, ashes, glowing coals).
9.5 Dust Clearing Button - FIG. 8
This button clears the cloth filter of dust build-up. Block the hose inlet, then push and release the dust clearing button (9) to blast off dirt from the filter and restore suction power.
Wet Vacuuming
9.6 Fitting Foam Filter - FIG 9
Empty the tank. Fit the foam filter (17) over the float cage. NEVER VACUUM DRY DUST AND DIRT WITH THIS FILTER FITTED, AS IT WILL PROVIDE LITTLE OR NO PROTECTION RESULTING IN MOTOR DAMAGE.
9.7 Wet Vacuuming Ready to Use - FIG 10
Refit the power head (8) onto the tank. Attach desired accessories, connect to power, and turn on the switch (I).
9.8 Water Level
Do not immerse the nozzle end totally for adequate airflow. When fluid reaches the highest permissible level, the float regulator will cover the motor air inlet, causing the motor to work harder and become noisier. Turn off and empty the tank at this point.
9.9 After Use, Empty Tank - FIG 11
Use the drain plug to empty water from the tank into an open drain.
9.10 Blowing Operation
Attach the flexible hose to the exhaust port (7). The unit will blow air through the hose, useful for clearing pipe obstructions. If the hose remains blocked after a few seconds, turn off the unit and clear manually.
Maintenance
10.1 Maintenance
Disconnect the hose and remove the top section. Clear dirt and debris from the container and hose. Check hoses, attachments, and power cord for damage. Clean or change the cloth filter regularly for best performance; always use it for dry vacuuming. Failure to use the cloth filter for dry vacuuming can cause motor burnout and void the warranty. Keep spare filters available. Filters are designed to stop small dust particles. The cloth filter is for dry pick-up only; if wet, it will clog and be difficult to clean. Handle filters carefully. Check for tears or holes; replace damaged filters immediately. Clean reusable cloth filters by tapping or brushing off dirt. Do not clean indoors in living areas. Wash cloth filters with mild soap and water, rinse well, and air dry. Wash foam filters with mild soap and water, rinse well, and air dry. Regular inspection and cleaning maintain good working condition. If the supply cord needs replacement, it must be done by the manufacturer or their agent to avoid hazards. Remove the plug before any adjustment, servicing, or maintenance.
