Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

Caution

  1. Do not use outdoors.
  2. To disconnect, turn any control to 'OFF', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  3. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
  4. The container is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
  5. Do not set a hot container on a wet or cold surface.
  6. Do not clean container with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.
  7. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter.
  8. Check hopper for presence of foreign objects before using.

Polarized Plug

This machine has a polarized plug, (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature or modify the plug in any way. If the plug fits loosely into the AC outlet or if the AC outlet feels warm, do not use that outlet.

Parts Identification

Control Panel

The control panel features various buttons and indicators for operating the coffee maker:

Display Screen

  1. Display current time or scheduled brewing time if a schedule is set (AM/PM).
  2. Display selected keep-warm time (Minutes).
  3. Display selected amount of ground coffee (Cup).
  4. When the machine runs 60 brews, a 'CLEAN' light on the screen turns on, indicating that the coffee machine needs to be descaled.

Brewing Styles

3 tailored brewing styles to suit your specific taste.

ROAST

Match the roasting level of your coffee with the perfect setting to achieve the richest flavor and aroma.

Press this button to choose from H (Dark roasted), M (Medium roasted), and L (Light roasted).

ICE COFFEE

Add water to the 'ICE' mark on the water tank, and press this button.

Add less than 50g of ground coffee into the Filter for a better drinking experience.

Note:

Before First Use

  1. Remove Packaging: Ensure all packaging has been removed.
  2. Position Machine: Ensure the machine is always positioned onto a dry, stable, flat horizontal counter top.
  3. Wash & Dry Parts: Wash the parts listed below in warm water: Grinding Blade, Permanent Filter, Bean Hopper Lid, Coffee Carafe, Filter Ring, Removable Filter Holder, Measuring Scoop. Rinse & allow thorough air drying.
  4. Fill Water Tank: Open the lid and fill enough pure water (recommended) in advance then close it.
    Note: Do not fill the water tank beyond the 10 cup mark. Doing so may cause carafe to overflow.
  5. Place Coffee Carafe: Place the coffee carafe on the warming plate.
  6. Turn On the Machine: Insert the power plug into a 120V AC power outlet & switch the machine on.
  7. Clean the Machine:
    1. Press the ON/OFF button to start the machine.
    2. Select 'CLEAN' and press the ON/OFF button to start cleaning the inner water lines.
    3. Empty the carafe, repeat the above steps for 2 times.
    4. Now you can start to brew your coffee.

Brewing Coffee

Making Coffee

  1. Add water at room temperature to the water tank. Do not exceed the Max mark. The amount of water added should be the same as the amount of coffee you want.
  2. Install the brew basket on the brew compartment.
  3. Place the Permanent Filter or disposable filter paper into the brew basket. (Do not use them at the same time.)
  4. Use coffee beans or ground coffee:
    • 4.1 Use with coffee beans:
      • Adjust the knob to 'GRIND' and open the Bean Hopper Lid.
      • Add coffee beans.
      • Close the Bean Hopper Lid and adjust the knob to the desired grind setting.
      • Set the grind regulator: The smaller the particle size, the finer the coffee is ground. The larger the particle size, the coarser the coffee is ground.
    • 4.2 Use with ground coffee:
      • Open the Swing-out Filter Basket.
      • Add ground coffee to the Filter.
      • You can adjust the concentration of coffee by increasing or decreasing the amount of coffee according to your taste. Or refer to the following table for the required amount (use the included measuring scoop.)
      • Close the Swing-out Filter Basket.

  1. Place the carafe onto the warming plate.
  2. Set different modes according to your needs:
    • Ground coffee mode: press GRIND OFF to choose the amount of grinding.
    • Grinding and brewing mode: press GRIND CUP to choose the amount of grinding. It is determined by the number of cups you want.
    • Brewing styles: refers to page 12-13, and other settings: refers to page 22-23.
    • Set the Scheduled Brewing Time: After setting the brewing styles, you can press DELAY BREW to set Scheduled Time. refer to page 23.
  3. Press ON/OFF to start your brew.
  4. The brew is complete when you hear 3 beeps signal.
  5. The coffee machine will automatically keep your coffee warm for 120 minutes after the brew is done.
  6. To turn off the machine, press and hold ON/OFF for at least 2 seconds.

Multi-Function Settings

Setting the Grind Cup

Press GRIND CUP to select the required amount of coffee grinds. The selection range is 4, 6, 8, 10 cups, and the default value is 6 cups.

Note: Pour water into the water tank up to the corresponding marked level. For example, for 4 cups, fill to the 4-cup mark.

Setting the Keep-warm Time

To keep warm after brewing, simply leave the carafe on the warming plate. It will automatically keep your coffee warm for up to 120 minutes. To keep a consistent temperature, press CARAFE KEEP WARM to choose from H (High), M (Medium), and L (Low).

To set the keep-warm time, press and hold the buttons to scroll quickly through the digits, or press and release to advance one digit at a time.

Note: The adjustable time range is 60 to 240 minutes.

Setting the Actual Time

This coffee machine features a timer function, set the clock to match your local time.

Press 12H HOUR and 60 MIN to increase the time. Press and hold either button to quickly increase the time.

Note: If the coffee machine is disconnected from power source, you will need to reset the clock when you turn it on next time.

Setting the Scheduled Brewing Time

You must set the actual time before setting the scheduled brewing time.

Press DELAY BREW to enter scheduled mode. The clock flashes to indicate that the scheduled time can be adjusted.

Press 12H HOUR and 60 MIN to increase the time. Press and hold either button to quickly increase the time.

After setting scheduled brewing time, press DELAY BREW again to confirm. The DELAY BREW indicator illuminates to indicate that the setting is successful.

Press DELAY BREW to check/reset the scheduled time, press it again to return.

Press ON/OFF to cancel any schedule.

Note: The scheduled brewing time needs to be set in the last step. After the scheduled brewing time setting is confirmed, other modes cannot be adjusted.

Care & Cleaning Instructions

Cleaning After Every Brew

Make sure to clean the coffee ground from the filter after each use to improve the quality of your next brew.

  1. After the unit has cooled down, remove the filter and filter basket. If using a paper filter, please discard it. If using the reusable filter, wash it thoroughly with soap and warm water.
  2. Clean your carafe with warm, soapy water.
  3. Wipe the warming plate and the outside of the machine with soft damp cloth.

! DO NOT immerse the coffee maker in water.

! To avoid burns, you MUST wait until the machine COOLS DOWN before performing the above cleaning steps.

Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker

To keep your coffee machine operating efficiently, you should clean away the mineral deposits regularly according to the water quality in your area and the frequency of use. It is recommended to use a descaling agent for cleaning every 2 to 3 months.

When the machine runs 60 brews, the 'CLEAN' indicator illuminates, indicating that the coffee machine needs to be descaled.

  1. Add water to the water tank to the 10-cup fill mark.
  2. Add descaler to the water tank and wait a few minutes for it to dissolve. (Gevi coffee maker descaler is recommended.)
  3. Put the carafe onto the warming plate.
  4. After selecting 'CLEAN', press ON/OFF to start cleaning.
  5. The whole clean cycle takes about 10-15 minutes.
  6. After cleaning is complete, the buzzer will sound 3 times to indicate that cleaning is complete. The 'CLEAN' light will cease to illuminate.
  7. Discard the water in the carafe.
  8. Add fresh water to the water tank to run at least 2 more brewing cycles to ensure the descaling solution residue is removed.
  9. The coffee machine is ready for the next brew.

Press ON/OFF any time to cancel the process and return to the standby state.

Troubleshooting Guide

Problem Possible Cause Solutions
Unsatisfied taste. Grinder is clogged Turn the knob at the top of the bean bin to the 'UNCLOG' sign, remove the bean bin, take out the blade parts, use a small brush to clean the coffee beans or residue inside the grinding blade.
Use of substandard coffee beans, such as moist coffee beans, coffee beans with liquid flavorings or syrups, frozen or coated beans, etc. Use fresh and quality ground coffee.
Too much ground. Use a proper amount of ground coffee for the machine.
Coffee overflows. Coffee-to-water ratio unbalanced. Ensure a proper ground coffee-to-water ratio for your brew.
A buildup of limescale inside the machine. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
Over filled ground coffee. We recommend 10g of ground coffee for 1 cup. Do not exceed 50g on 1 brew.
Paper filter and the permanent filter is used at the same time. Do not use them at the same time.
Misplacement of the coffee carafe. Place the carafe correctly on the warming plate. Make sure its lid is closed and upping against the drip stop.
The carafe is taken away for more than 30 seconds during the brewing process. The carafe should not be taken away for more than 30 seconds during the brewing process.
Coffee not hot enough. There is a build-up of limescale inside the heating tubes. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
If the ambient temperature is too low. Adjust CARAFE KEEP WARM to 'H (High).
Warming plate not working. The warming plate malfunctions. Contact the Gevi support team.
Brewing a partial cup. There is a build-up of limescale inside the heating tubes. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
Brews slowly. Indicating that the coffee machine needs to be descaled. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
Makes rumbling noise. Indicating that the coffee machine needs to be descaled. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
'CLEAN' light on the screen turns on. Indicating that the coffee machine needs to be descaled. A deep descaling is needed for your machine, refer to "Descaling Your Gevi Coffee Maker", page 27.
